As the title says... those huey's are by far the best performance in the movie... you even pull the stick back to take off.... If you can stomach the rest ;) flying through the storm with the doors open... too good.

Hey All, So, due totally to DCS I am chasing my private pilots license. Went out to a local airport (Camden) in Sydney and flew a piper around for an hour or two. When we landed an L39 showed up and i got a quick look at it. Apologies for the crap photos - i drink to much to buy a decent phone as they are on high rotation. Its an amazing nimble little aircraft. Some pics attached. So they do joy flights and i got home to tell my boss i am doing all the overtime available so i can do 40 mins in it. As i have the module and have taken the time to learn it, it will be interesting to see if its familiar at all. On another note, having flown only in VR before yesterday i can tell you DCS does help. It felt natural and I landed the 4th touch and go with the pilot hovering over the stick but little bit of rudder and a long runway and it was awesome. One thing the pilot said that is true is sim guys tend to look at the instruments a lot, i did for rotation speed, climb etc and he told me to stop looking down and judge the decent and speed via feel alone. Took a real effort to do so. Now i will be poor again until i can fly haha... be a little while before i can afford a run in the L39 but will keep you posted. BTW- the owner has TWO of them! I use the Mig daily, its not in a great state in 2.1... 2.1 is not in a great state and i dont blame them for waiting for a stable release before any further changes... Works great in 1,5.? and i fly exclusively in VR... its still the best module available currently... VR performance in 2.1 is much lower than other modules - that and the cockpit not being displayed correctly are the only issues im having personally...

Hey All, Just curious is it modeled that you are easier to spot if you leave your external lights - navigation, strobe etc, by enemy forces? I haven't tested, just thought its easier to ask thanks James

Thanks, i was a lot smoother last night and had more success. I did think all the vibration was letting me know i was running out of lift. Getting used to her boundaries and just needed to descend much slower than i can get away with in the KA and the Huey, from a hover anyway. She might be bigger, but lots of power and much faster. Enjoying learning how to pilot her well. Its probably somewhere already, are we getting same cockpit multiplayer for the Mi8?

Hey All, Just so you know, i can fly the huey like a boss... well middle management at least... can come in low and fast, pull it up and park it on the deck... Sooo, just learned the Mi8 and am trying to land it on the carrier... When i try to do a controlled descent, like a few meters per second, it seems to lose power very fast. If i do manage to catch it, its always gaining altitude. Like it has plenty of power but doesn't want to land? Any tips from the guys driving this for a while on just landing from a high hover? I keep hitting the deck so hard its bruising my ego... cheers James

So my first mission i mixed the wrong countries on the tarmac... was funny watching Mi8's and hueys going at it when you are starting the engines... Gonna be here a while, i dont think we should count on me for a while...

Rambo II - yes i work nights and there is a TV on... What is the heli that chases the Huey - it looks like a modified Mi8? Just having a debate with the team...
