May have figured some of it out. From what I can tell (very much NOT a tech person), it appears as though….sometimes….dcs chooses to access my microphone and wether it’s muted or not, causes what sounds like a lot of pass through. I can just not allow any apps to access and that seems to prevent it from happening. Of course, I can’t use srs then, but at least I’m getting good sound. tried two different wired headsets….both worked fine with no issues even when I allowed apps to access. Tried three different Bluetooth headsets (one set earbuds), and each one had the same problem on multiple launches with and without any other software running. this is where I’m at for now. Any input appreciated. Thanks. (I reinstalled DCS once too).

Only in DCS. 1) Bluetooth headphones sound like I'm underwater, inside of a can. 2) Checked and updated all drivers/updates...etc for the PC and DCS. 3) Always check to ensure they are fully charged. 4) No issues anywhere else outside of DCS. (I can't clone the problem in any other game/software/environment) 5) SRS on launch, and not on launch (same result) 6) Multiple bluetooth headsets tried with same issues. All wired headsets work great right away. 7) The bluetooth headphones will work randomly, sometimes, after I relaunch DCS a few times. Is there any known issues that I've overlooked, and if so, where could I look into it? Thank you for your help. (I play DCS with Warbirds...so I've only experienced this problem with warbirds. Not sure if thats an issue, but in case it is please let me know) S! Thank you.

Tdaffy started following Trigger spawn random ai via set flag random…(dice rolling)
-
Basic… when part of group enters trigger, then roll die….etc, and if A=dead and die rolls A, then roll again…etc eTc. works flawlessly when used in PLAYER, but never works when used in CLIENT. Is this the way it is or am I missing something? tried in multiple scenarios and maps. Trigger set ups identical. (Except as client I use A or B or C….and do forth)

I’m just not in a real life position to commit to a squadron right now. I’m not sure it would be fair to them lol. Just a crazy year here…..BUT….lately I’ve started to realize a new interest in the RIO seat. One, my eyes and reflexes are probably more like a ten year old mountain Feist today than they are like mavericks, and two, there’s a lot going on in that seat. It’s like a sim in itself. And I can have a great ride, and a fun fight, and what’s awesome is that I can make up for m eyes not being as quick as my pilots by adding some love to the aircraft’s eyes and ears. offline is ok. I’m learning stuff. Got controls and stuff assigned. (Starting to). Beginning to at least understand the theories and why this does that and how. But offline gets limited. Maybe it’s good for me! But I’m interested in some mp where everything’s not on rails. what’s the standard out there? Is it rude to join a position in the role selection? I have the comms but don’t get a response a lot of times. Are there pilots out there who welcome a spontaneous addition?

Great work guys! Love the work you've done here.

Who hasn't seen Top Gun???? Why?

I actually noticed this little and awesome detail today. Oddly, I have been trying to learn Morse Code for a little while now. (just because I guess) I was excited to see it on the plane. Hope it does work.

I've been handling the Spitfire so far, on Take off, like I always have the 109. I had to learn how to take off with that beast early on. I line up, then double check my surfaces. RPM all the way forward. Add a smooth throttle to get her rolling. Stick slightly back, and right. A little bit of right rudder. Once she gets rolling, I add throttle as smooth as I can to 8 inches. I've found that at about this point, my rudder begins to respond. albeit not a lot until I let the stick go back neutral and get the tail off the deck. Once tail comes up, I'm all rudder and I like to lean my body to the right...(Not sure why! Just helps me lol) and hold control positions as she leaves the surface. Once I'm able to stabilize the rudder effect and kind of balance everything, I add a few inches of boost, then pull back the rpms to 2500. Once everything is flying well, I raise the gear and go.... I think that, honestly, learning on the 109 did make a difference. I'm sure it helped, but I did find myself doing some crabbing take offs at first in the Spit. I'm not able to really land any of the prop planes with long straight approaches. I think that it gives me too much time to think about what's going on. I do the short, turn/falling approaches with A LOT of rudder on them all. I find that it helps me slow down very efficiently, and doesn't give me too much time to think myself into a burning hole in the ground. Plus, I like how it really shortens the field. I think that if you work on the smooth throttle, and let your feet do their thing on the rudders, and let her fly, you'll be doing touch and go's in no time. Smooth throttle, be consistent and deliberate on the rudder, and let the tail come up all by itself, and then follow the stick instead of pushing or pulling it....she'll take herself off. She just needs you to make sure she stays up once she gets there!! Good luck

Track file for a Spitfire flight - Favour to ask
Tdaffy replied to ReggiePerrin's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I think that it would be a neat gift. I would pretty much show him how to crash, but I'm confident that there are some in our group here that would be absolutely capable. I hope it happens for ya. -
Concerning what said Tdaffy, you are right, dogfight then and now in simulator are way different, real dogfight were very short, when 30 vs 30 planes were fighting, you chose a target, try to hit him and if you fail change target. In DCS, well, it's very commun to have asymetric fight with 2 vs 4 planes, and then in few seconds you would have 4 planes on your tail, running for the deck. Also in reality fight sweep had objective, in DCS you go for the fight and the kill as you said. Yes. You said it better than me. In these sims, we pretty much find ourselves in deliberate engagements pitting one against the other more or less. Probably, at least in my opinion, if we were to go solely for pure historical RP, then it would be a Coop setting with each side (wing/squadron) receiving a simple briefing and what to expect based on radar and intel of that time periods capabilities...launch, form up, then patrol. Trust me, I and I'm sure a thousand others here would love it!! Also, regarding my comments above, I certainly don't believe that good pilots in DCS are only good because of their technology. I might have phrased that badly. We all have a favorite ride and we study and employ it. That's what makes us good or bad. Plus...you gotta have fun at the end. Win or loose. I'm sure that the Spit is going to change the game a bit, but there are some deadly 109 and 190 pilots out here that are just salivating lol. S!

I think that most of us here misinterpret, or have unrealistic expectations about 'Dog Fighting' in general. Especially in the WWII Sim genre. There are always the ongoing debates about this quote from this book and that pilot quoted this, and this one quoted that. We have the fortunate benefit of History, reflection, and digitally accessed data at our fingertips today, as well as 'plug and play' software that we can input 'stuff' into, and get a comparison between models that should or should not confirm our, or our Simulated Squadron Mates "Historical" Perspectives. At the end of the day, in reality, the vast majority of these "Dog Fights" were more likely not as dramatic or interesting as they've been assumed by us...today...some 70+ years...after the fact. Good pilots knew their machines, and their machine's limits. They also knew that they had to win...and shoot the other guy....or they would not go home. I believe that Historical accounts suggest that MOST engagements, and 'Dog Fights' on record lasted no more than a few seconds, and were usually over with before anybody (all sides) started to even contemplate how they were going to 'dog fight' "this opponent" today! It was pretty much systematic murder. Stalk them. Sneak up on them. Shoot them. Get the hell out of there. I mean, I think it's fascinating myself and I'm addicted to the whole idea and the history of it. I just think that we have the benefit today of literally...not having had to have been there...if you will. Most Aces from the WWI and WWII Era, when quoted, don't go on and on about this or that planes Flight model or Sustained vs Instant Turn rates. Mostly, they say...."If you found yourself in a Dog Fight, then you made a mistake." (loosely paraphrased lol) I think we are a lot like that in our thoughts and styles today on these computers. We will take advantage of a million amenities of technology in order to have the edge on the other guy in the server room. But, the pixels are the same ones on his or her HD, and the FMs and Code is the same as everyone elses (plane specific of course), and the models have their characteristics....but a 109, or a P51, or a 190, or even the Spitfire is not going to be the better fighter...just because the FM and Statistics say it should be. It's going to be the virtual pilot and their technology that will win or loose the fight. In 2017. In 1939-45, it was the Pilot and their attitude.

Been marking days off the calendar. I can't wait to knock some of those Spits down with my 109!! :megalol: Seriously though, only reason I didn't start posting at 1201 AM looking for it was because I didn't want to be the only one waiting up all night to see when she arrived. Can't wait. P.S. When I say knok them down in my 109, I literally mean...like, knock them down. I'm a horrible flier. I have to actually hit them, to knock them down.

What will be the first thing you do in the spitfire?
Tdaffy replied to flare2000x's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Probably crash it. -
This is the message that I keep getting.... "Unable to update. File or directory unavailable or corrupted." Before that I was getting... "Cant create directory C:\program files (x86)\DCS World 2 Open Alpha\downloads\Bazar/Liveries/TF-51D/TF-51 Gentleman Jim/:(1392) The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" Now, whenever I try to do a manual update....Nothing happens. Game launches. Maps show that new terrain and airports are updated, but everything reads as version 2.0.3. I've done the following: Cleaned up Bazar/Liveries Repaired (manually with command prompt) Attempted update manually (command prompt) Cleaned up directories...other Verified available space....1.14 TB free Compared log files.... I'm pretty much at the point of just deleting the whole set and trying a clean install. Am I missing anything before that though? Any ideas? Never had issues or problems before.:music_whistling:
