  1. Thanks for the reply. You say I should find the option in module manager - that's what I thought. Under "Installed" I only see a slider/toggle for each module which from my research seemed to be an enable/disable module from the UI/Install. My research mentioned that this isn't a "activate/deactivate" or is this where my confusion comes in. Does this deactivate OR disable the module from the game? Thanks
  2. Sorry, I know this is come up many times but I must be dense. I try to follow but my installation/situation doesn't seem to fit the info I've found. I have DCS World 2.5 installed on my D: drive. I have new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and M.2 NVMe for Windows 10. Drive D: will remain as is once the new OS is installed. So, I'm not sure what I need to do before I switch to the new hardware. I see some mention of "Deactive" on the old computer but it's not clear how to do this - believe me I've tried. I currently only own FC3 and the Nevada terrain. Any help is appreciated - hoping to make the switch tomorrow. Thanks
  3. So, how do you think the so called "experts" learned DCS? It may be that much of what's out there is for those with significant DCS time under their belt but they all had to learn (except for the real pilots) at some point - if you can't find help neither could they. It sounds like you "expect" someone to hold your hand while you learn, will you do the same once you become the expert? DCS is complicated, I'm terrible even though I've spent considerable time reading and watching youtube videos. Basically, no pain-no-gain! It's not easy for many of us, I don't expect someone to hold my hand though. I don't mean to attack, I'm just adding to the discussion.
  4. I haven't had any problems with the Win 10 update. I've updated my two computers and 4-5 at work so far.
  5. I agree to a point. I only really want the F-86 but then again the deal for both is only $10 more than just buying the F-86.
  6. Just came across this mod today. I've run from my 1.5.4 install folder - should this mod be aware of the modules I already have installed (only FC3 now)? Or is the "install" feature of this utility for it's own purpose? Also, when I purchase a module, DCS automatically installs - why use this updater tool? Just a little confused on the use of DCS Updater GUI Utility when DCS modules are already installed.
  7. New view is fine with me but I will say that I'm fairly new to DCS. I few adjustments and I'm fine (TrackIR from day one). I remember when I first started with DCS, I hated the default view, I couldn't see where I was flying - felt like I had to raise the view. Now that I've had more cockpit time, I realize most flying is done with the instruments. I can understand those that got use to the old view, but it wasn't ingrained into me making it easier for me to adapt.
  8. Closed after 8 hours? What would it have hurt to have more join in...
  9. I don't mean to hijack your thread @subline but maybe my question will help with your decision on Summer Sale module to buy. Anyone want to comment on a choice between the F-86 or L-39? I'm only a single player missions/campaigns pilot at this time, still very green (FC3, and NTTR so far). The F-86 is attractive for two reasons - soon to be released Museum Relic DLC and the era of the bird - nothing in FC3 is like this. But, I also hear good things of the Albratros and seeing I'm mostly learning without getting into battles this may be a good choice for someone like me. Any comments appreciated!
  10. I agree, I also gave up on SLI, just wasn't worth the trouble (single GTX980 now, possibly a 1080 soon). I also got away from triple screens because of space and the troubles with SLI. I run quite a few different flight/racing sims and getting everything to run smoothly with enough eye candy was irritating. For now an Ultra-Wide (3440x1440) is working fine. VR will be next for me once it's matured a little more.
  11. I'm buying one when they become more readily available (GTX980 now).
  12. Good to hear, mine are scheduled for delivery on May 31st. Up till now I've just been using my stick for rudder control. As for being too narrow, I don't expect that to bother me. Accelerator/brake/clutch of IRL cars, and the pedal sets for my virtual racing car simulators are close together - not sure why rudder pedals would be that much different. Brake to accelerator pedals of cars are approximately 5-6" apart, clutch to accelerator approx. 9-10". The price is right for me, I'm not a dedicated flight simmer as life is too busy for me to invest mega hours into gaming. But when I do find the time, proper controls (relatively inexpensive) are a big help.
  13. Hello pilots, I'm new to DCS and mission editor - fantastic simulalator! I created a simple mission to help me practice takeoff/landing and the mission editor basics. I actually don't remember how I started this particular mission depicted in the attachment. This mission has ground targets but I'm basically just practicing cold ramp startup from Novorossiysk to Anapa-Vityazevo. My question is related to defining a landing waypoint, in this case Anapa-Vityazevo. I can't seem to get direct landing guidedance w/glide-slope to the runway. The nav. mode guides me to the waypoint prior to the landing waypoint then switches to RTN mode. What I'm I doing wrong? Also, I noticed some airports have white guidelines representing approach/takeoff, I guess. Anapa-Vityazeno in my mission does not, not sure if this is related to my missions lack of landing direction guidance. Why do some airports have these markers and others don't? (graphic attached - arrow pointing to the markers I'm questioning). Thanks in advance
  14. Flash sale... perfect timing, I was ready for FC3!
  15. Win 10 Pro x64 ASUS MB, Intel i7, 16 GB, GTX980 (3440x1440) TrackIR, Thrustmaster T-F HOTAS X, VoiceAttack No problems with any auto racing or flight sim.
  16. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
  17. Hey pilots, newbie to DCS, just trying to come up to speed but very impressed with DCS World! Question and question/comment... I'm fine with the free content until I get to know the ins/outs of DCS World but wondering if anyone has a comment on the purchase of Flaming Cliffs 3. I surely will purchase at some point but doesn't make much sense to buy now as the Su-27T suits me during my learning phase. How often does FC3 go on sale and what price have you seen it go for? Also, how many are using VoiceAttack? This for me is a savior, my progress has been hampered by learning so many commands and related key combos. I had purchased VoiceAttack (best $8 I've ever spent!) for my racing sims many months ago but didn't find it very useful, but for a flight sim it's gold! Very easy for me to remember "Gear down", "Dragging chut", "Reset Warning", etc. but remembering the keys to trigger, and having to take my eyes off the screen, has been an issue. VoiceAttack is very responsive and accurate, even when I've had a few brews :music_whistling:
