I'm hoping someone from ED can provide us some guidance for things like how the sim knows which voice to use, or if there are features we can activate that are not currently used. I haven't attempted the callsigns yet until we have a list that we want to put in. Let's not get crazy with the number because there's a lot of wav files that need changed and or added. We can discuss the limit on Discord whenever you guys want to get together. I can build and installer once we are finished. I don't like unzipping files so I always build installers to keep is easy for users.
There's a group of us redoing the entire voice system for English speech. If you can identify voice messages that are not in game we can add them. PM me.
Thanks for the encouragement.
I believe we are meeting today to put a plan together and to discuss callsigns. My guess is there will not be any personal callsigns. I used mine as a sample only. Perhaps in the future Ed may want to look at a small fee for folks to have their personal callsign included; but that's just a thought for Ed and it would be a challenge using voice actors who may not be available later on.
cheers
I was able to convince my wife to do voice overs for me, so I have the tanker finished, and I'll have her as ATC later today. I've also added quite a few callsigns, but will wait until the group meets to see what we are going to include.
Sample of my wife at tanker.
I understand the folder setup and have already started the process.
I was confused on the usage of "mimic". I thought I could use the same voice but somehow change it in game. That's great advice and I'm sure we can get at least four different ATC voices; hopefully a female or two as well.
Can the same procedure be used for AWACS and TANKER, or player voices?
cheers
Guys, it is not just the callsigns you need to record. Every voice wav in DCS needs to be redone in the same voice or it will not sound good. So, the tanker, JTAC, ATC, AWACS, Player etc all need redone; this is not small undertaking.
The big job is recreating the voices because every voice for every unit would need changed. The voices have to be record and then edit for length and effects, and that is every single wav file in the sim; not just the callsigns or it will not match.
Its very easy to add callsigns.
It is possible but I don't have the time. I've been doing dev work for years with BMS but left flight sim for 5 years. I came back flying with the release of the Hornet.
