For you maybe. Yeah, well, groping for a VR controller is about as immersion breaking as it gets. I find using VoiceAttack and head controlled mouse works very well.

Strangely there does appear to be a subset of users for whom pressing buttons has become the most important element. Most of them have rejected VR because it masks their beloved buttons but some now obsess over the idea of somehow integrating physical buttons with the VR cockpit.

I use my TM Warthog. Why anyone would want to use VR controllers like Touch is utterly beyond me.

The secret is to use phonetics. VoiceAttack can’t translate Geordie into English, so you just tell it what the Geordie Pronunciation means in English. It’s very simple.

I’ve never had a single problem with VoiceAttack.

Make your own gear handle. You don’t even have to plug it in. Your dummy gear handle would just be operated by voice over VoiceAttack. Gear up/gear down verbal takeoff/landing checklist complete. Improvise, adapt and overcome.

I sometimes fire up DCS and forget to start the JetSeat. Sims without jetseat are meh. Just taxing and feeling the thud as the tyres roll over the concrete expansion joints it worth money on its own. Jettisoning the payload feels incredible too. And then there’s burrrrrrrrt. Get one and be amazed. Of course I wouldn’t bother with any of this without VR.

Pressing buttons seems to be your main reason for playing. All that money on button boxes you can’t use in VR followed by buyer’s remorse. All you have left is a feeling of emptiness and a need to hate on VR.

That’s not flying though and since when did you speak for most people. Yeah, some people want to check Six by turning their heads 180 and cry when they cannot do it in VR. Hardcore flightsimers want max immersion not a pathetic drone station experience. Bedwetters tend to not like VR.

You can play all your strategy games in VR too, it will be like having a 200” monitor in front of you. This is how I play SupCom.

I use a wireless trackball on my right knee. I will replace that with a touchpad at some point. Also, have a look at VoiceAttack.

I just say ‘gear up’ and VoiceAttack puts the gear up.

I never use my keyboard. If it's not on the HOTAS then I do it all with VoiceAttack or the trackball that's on my knee. For me, the touch controllers are the biggest immersion breakers of all when it comes to flying. People seem to have this odd idea that it's only 'proper' VR if it works with touch or equivalent. I've heard people complain that they paid good money for their Touch controllers so want to use them. Yeah well, try to use the right tools for the job. Touch controllers etc were not designed to fly aircraft with, no really, they were not. Adapt and overcome please rather than being an anchor that slows the development process.

It’s cheap. I can’t drive or fly with monitors now, the flatness makes no sense to my brain anymore.

Who is this feature for then? Every serious flightsimmer is going to own physical controls, so it's not for them. Last I checked, DSC was a serious flight sim for people who are really into accurate simulations.

It's not at all immersive, is hideously unintuitive, works badly, if at all, for tracking in a cockpit rig where your hands aren't always seen by the sensors. Great if you sit in a typist chair in an open space and don't like realistic controls though. The more I think about, the more i understand why is a no priority feature. I hope they continue to listen to me and not bother with such nonsense.
