  1. VR coz it's the best fun. I had TiR in 1999, but things have moved no.
  2. Sadly, there’s a fair few sim pilots who insist that wind has strange powers. ‘A crosswind pushes harder on the tail than the nose in flight, cos the tail is bigger.’ etc. Anyway, really enjoyed your VR video. Having you guys here is like having Lewis Hamilton posting in a sim racing forum.
  3. Ditto :)
  4. This will make youe brain bleed: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=189683&page=6
  5. Yip, but there are people in here who claim 140kts airspeed due to tailwind reduced airspeed. And trust me, they will come here.
  6. oop HEADwind :)
  7. A plane flies upwind at 200kts airspeed with a 20kt headwind. The plane then turns and ends up flying downwind with a groundspeed of 180kts but what is its airspeed?
  8. Have you done the mic test in VA?
  9. It's what I use.
  10. Head controlled mouse
  11. A VR knee pad would be so cool.
  12. I had the same setup. Do you remember how people struggled with the idea of TIR, scaled head movement and setting up their gaming environment so the tracking would work? It was a similar debate to the current VR one with a general lack of understanding and inability to overcome small hurdles.
  13. I had one of the first TIRs in c.1998 and it was revolutionary but it was only ever a placeholder until VR came along. The problem VR has is it has to change people's ingrained habits and that's very hard for any consumer product. Not a problem for those of us that have been waiting but some people don't even understand what VR is. A few weeks back someone was claiming the only 'true VR experience' could be had by using things like Touch controllers and using HOTAS in VR wasn't 'proper VR gaming' but he'd completely missed the point.
  14. Never wait. The only problem current VR has is the high resolution entitled generation of spoiled gamers who have terminal buyer's remorse about their high end monitors.
  15. I think the self styled 'serious' crowd do have a bit of an elitist attitude, flippantly dismissing VR as a 'novelty' they also seem to have a deep need to put others off VR, even though their lists of cons have been addressed years ago. It's like they've switched their minds off to solutions because deep down they know they've taken a wrong turn but just won't admit it to themselves.
  16. Is DSC running full screen on your desktop? I had loads of issues running it windowed.
  17. SLI isn't supported by any of the VR systems currently available. It's not needed anyway as a single modern card has enough power for VR on its own.
  18. Q: is the VR images presented in 3d? yes Q: Second, can the headset be used without remote tracker? No, but why would you not want head tracking? Q: And lastly, should I wait until next year for next generation VR Headsets? Don't wait, just get the best HMD (do your research) and a beefy system to drive it.
  19. Deft has introduced yet another subset of DSC players, those that play competitively/seriously online. I’ve seen this mentioned by people before and seen their setups which look like drone operating stations, with post it notes and coke cans. Fine if that’s your bag but crushing dull if you seek that feeling of presence mentioned before. I tried to join a ‘squadron’ but was blackballed because I player exclusively in VR. I wasn’t ‘serious’ enough for them apparently. I think people forget that the brain is being presented with the same information but it’s just massively bigger in VR compared to the same pixels veiwed a couple of feet away on a monitor.
  20. Don’t count frames is my advice. Too late, obviously, for you though.
  21. Did you not tru VR Zoom? Honestly, I can read all the panels and gauges in the A-10C and the F-18. With VR zoom, readability becomes a non issue. ${1}
  22. I didn't bother with your old posts but I'd bet that you do a lot of telling people how to be, what to say and how to think. You just jog on, son.
  23. It comes from the fact that most people are stupid.
  24. This is a valid point as some people are totally incapable adapting to or overcoming the really rather small hurdles that lower res presents. Your contention that VR isn't properly implemented into DCS is, of course, completely laughable. VR in DCS is an incredible experience. First time I tried it I just sat in the cockpit on the ground for an hour in total awe of what I was seeing. Monitors are just pathetic windows looking into a wittle pixie world of small, flat unscale thing.
  25. Exactly.
