I drive a 70s muscle car. It has no traction control, power steering, or anti-skid brakes. It only has an AM radio and a heater that takes 10 minutes to warm up. But it's made of metal, sounds like a growling bear and looks the way a car is supposed to look. It feels right. I think the Huey feels the same. - Bear

The 'corrector' is the 'throttle' axis, not sure where the name originated, but it's not in the flight manual. I'll submit it to the devs tmw morning. HiJack, advance your controller axis to full and then press PGUP to see if the in-game throttle moves any further. Also check that there are no other controls conflicting. - Bear

It's all good, at least you 'answered' your post so others can learn from it! :) - Bear

Did you reset/extinguish the Master Caution during your pre-start checks? If so, when (what N2/NR) does the Master Caution re-appear as you advance the throttle? If you then reset/extinguish the Master Caution does it re-appear? - Bear

check your controls against the control response in-game, I think it's RSHF-Enter (not at the sim PC at the moment). My guess is that your axis assignments are conflicted, perhaps something else attached to your PC is providing unwanted control inputs. - Bear

Definitely a bug, hoping to get an answer from devs soon but I'm guessing they're pretty busy at the moment. :) - Bear

The throttle should be set at idle prior to engaging the starter, the primary fuel nozzles will automatically open at 8-13% N1 as long as there isn't a malfunction (open nozzle, low battery, etc) or the throttle isn't set too far above idle. As for hot starts, not yet but as far as I know this is planned to be implemented. Will add some excitement to starts and ensure that people check their DC voltages before and during starts. :) Cheers, - Bear

It'll have to be after electrical power is applied, the switch is electrically held in the off position and will spring back to the on/audio position without power. - Bear

That's it alright. If one of the needles is different to the others, it'll grab your attention and demand a closer look - Bear

Very light control inputs and try to anticipate control/power inputs (not easy). Overcontrolling is common both in sim and real life, try to relax and make very gentle inputs. Then, when you're comfortable, throw the fat girl around nice and hard, she loves it! - Bear

Battery on, Starter Gen on, Fuel on.... hit the starter and it should start. Check for those things first. Don't worry about turning the low rotor audio back on, it'll automatically turn back on approaching normal N2/NR (can't remember the figure atm). - Bear

If he started on 58s, the Huey would have felt very docile and incredibly over-powered. :) It's the same progression I went through in my training. Also as EB stated, the FM will continue to be tweaked. - Bear

Instrument Lightning on front Dashboard???
HuggyBear replied to Boon1986's topic in Bugs and Problems
Looks like the flight instruments are backlit after all! Been too long since I flew nights... No secondary lights though, but they're rubbish anyway. From the amount of ambient light it looks as if the green dome lights in the cabin are on. - Bear -
Instrument Lightning on front Dashboard???
HuggyBear replied to Boon1986's topic in Bugs and Problems
Looks like the Engine/Xmsn instrument lighting isn't working (except for the N2/NR), also the glareshield mounted secondary lights don't seem to be working. The flight instruments are fine, they're just not backlit like the writing on the overhead and console panels, they only have the 'external' lighting of the post-lights in the corners of the instruments. I'll have a look at this and let you know. Thanks, - Bear -
...and much nicer than any real Huey in existence! :) - Bear

G'day Jesse, this was submitted previously, although I believe the engine instruments were lit correctly when it was tested, I'll look into that today. Thanks, - Bear

Pfft, only Instructor Pilots use words like 'Vortex Ring' and 'Settling with Power' anyway, because they're worried people will discover they can't fly! :P Real Pilots speak with their hands (without spilling their drinks). - Bear

Ah yes the STVAs (Self Tuning Vibration Absorbers)! Such a 'Chinook' (brute-force) way of fixing a problem with vibrations... just add big heavy adjustable weights under the floor and in the nose to cancel out the vibrations! You'd have loved flying them recently with the new 714A engines w/ FADEC. Wonderfully responsive, more power, less fuel burn. I do miss not having to think about power available... :) - Bear

@ Loz G'day mate, I'm a former UH-1H and CH-47D driver (ADF) and we used 70 KIAS for both of those. The auto charts from the Flight Manual show a min RoD speed of 68 KIAS with the metal blades. During Chinook maintenance flights the auto revs check was carried out at a speed of 75+/-5 kIAS. Any extra speed gives you a lot more options regarding quickly trading airspeed for NR at the bottom. You can always 'wrap up' an auto to gain NR, but if you're low on both airspeed and NR at the bottom, you're out of luck. The Chinook's NR was a lot twitchier than a Huey during auto, particularly when heavy with armour and equipment. and required a lot more babysitting with collective to prevent an overspeed. Cheers, - Bear

In real life life you don't need a gauge, your arse will let you know if you are approaching 0.5G... it feels terrible! :) The Huey is actually fairly agile (though not compared to something like a BlackHawk) and can be thrown around quite vigorously. Wingovers can be pulled well past 90 degrees Angle of Bank... the pilot just needs to keep the disc loaded by keeping collective in and 'pulling' the aircraft through the maneouvre. - Bear

Understood, I didn't explain myself correctly. Thanks, - Bear -
[How To] Export ALL Indicators like MFCD via ViewPorts

Looking at the CDU_init.lua and AN_ALR69V_init.lua files now. Don't know what the changes mean, but there are lots of them. - Bear -

Looks like the content of the files has changed considerably. - Bear -
Yes it's possible, but infrequent. - Bear

During the DSMS training mission, there's a UH-1 departing the field with doors fwd. In the left hand quarter compartment (door gunner's seat) there's a drink bottle laying on the seat. (Doesn't roll around as the Huey pitches and rolls though :) ) -Bear
