  1. I play with a Rift S and a gtx1070 mini card. I get a fair amount of stuttering, blurring around cockpit edges and occasional full second long pauses but honestly I barely care, I'm flying inside the real plane and that is absolutely incredible. If I had to stop using VR for a while I would stop playing DCS or iRacing etc until I had VR back again. Its quite interesting to me how this is very different for different people.
  2. Thanks for comment Neon67 I would agree 100% with your explanation if these were say free hand sketched from a reference image. But these are screenshots from the model viewer, clear cut and then with various digital effects applied to those images + a bunch of manual hand editing. Its not so much using DCS as reference, it IS a DCS image with effects and modifications applied over that image and so I'm a little unsure if that changes things.
  3. Hi all. Couple of months ago I started turning a spare bedroom into a sim room for flying and racing and in the last week or so started creating some art work for it using DCS screenshots as a starting point and then pretty radically changing to be like the attached. Someone suggested to me I could make them available to others as prints on something like Society6 for a few dollars. However am I right to presume that any images produced from DCS models like this would be under copyright by Eagle Dynamics and therefore could not be sold, despite being significantly modified from the originals? And that would cover both aircraft model and livery?
  4. Thanks for the response. Knowing that is the issue ill retry #2 and keep in mind the time challenge. Cheers!
  5. I just started out this campaign and having a lot of fun, thanks for making it! Since i know DCS missions and triggers can go wonky sometimes i play campaigns as single missions so i can just start the next if something doesn't work out. So in mission 1 im checking the first bridge, check the other side of bridge then gain some altitude, no where near power lines or anything then boom im dead. hrrmm.. I think well it took me a long time to get here ill just go to mission 2 and maybe do another play through some other time anyway. So im on mission 2 and just loading up the last cargo to move across the river then suddenly mission ends.. hrmm.. look at log and apparently this time Wolf 1 exploded for no apparent reason so the mission ended.. I guess ill just skip to mission 3 now. A shame though.. these are neat missions, i hope i can finish the next ones.
  6. I played DCS a little many years ago. Then i got a Track IR and thought wow this is neat, probably added 50hrs or so to my total DCS playing time but eventually lost interest. Then I got VR and now have been playing regularly for years. TrackIR is probably best if you just want to play DCS as a game, shoot the most things, be the best you can on multiplayer. If you just want to play a game that's cool, your allowed, different people want to do different things. VR is best if you want to play a simulation, feel like your as close to the real pilot flying the real plane as you can be. When i was a kid i always dreamed of flying these planes and VR is the closest thing to the real experience, looking at a moving picture in a frame doesn't compare. Also a few people in here talking about VR performance, i play on a 1070 mini card with often terrible frame rate, in my low res CV1 and still play all the campaigns. I don't find it to be a big deal tbh, still totally amazes me every time i jump in.
  7. I have an issue where the communications menu just stops showing up when i push the comms button \ . Doesn't seem to matter which aircraft, it will always work at the start when its first loaded up and i'm in a plane, works on the ground, works in the air but then suddenly stops showing up. If i keep flying around and try it intermittently maybe 10 mins later it will eventually start showing up again and continue to work fine. Makes missions and campaigns suddenly impossible to play. Might be co-incidence but started happening the first day i tried out a Rift S. Before then i was using a Rift for a long time and after a weekend i sent the Rift S i was borrowing back and now use my Rift again but still same issue. Pretty sure i updated DCS on the same day so might have been that. Have updated DCS since but issue is still there. Has anyone else heard of this issue before? Update: After finishing with the Rift S i started flying with a new aircraft and have realized the issue at that point was a difference in key binding between mic and comms menu that made it appear there was still an issue. I cant reproduce the original issue because i no longer have the same setup but it seemed to either be related to the Rift S or multiplayer.
  8. I have about half the modules and about half of those i can fly pretty well. But honestly its great for all of us that so many people tend to buy so many modules. Means there is a lot more money and motivation for more development, more modules, more content, more features. The average spend of a DCS user on both hardware and software must be much higher then a regular gamer and in turn we have a ton of hardware options and a rapidly growing set of aircraft to fly. I'm normally a pretty frugal person but i have no problem buying modules that i will only end up flying a little.
  9. Thanks for the reply, good to know im not just going crazy :P or some config hasn't gone out of wack. Hope they get that training stuff sorted out too, my dad (that makes me sound young but hes over 60) is getting right into flying with the rift but it would be good if he could do the tutorials so i don't have to stand there telling him which switches to flick the whole time.
  10. DCS in the CV1 blows my mind! 2 question that may be simple so ill just ask them here, start a new thread if they are not well known. #1 training missions in the rift, the switch highlights which tell you which ones to push dont seem to work. Is this known issue? is there a work around? #2 instantly realised the default sitting position is right at the front of the seat so i moved that back so im sitting properly in the chair but now the hud is messed up. It seems to be sized for sitting on the end of the chair, now i cant see both the bottom and top at the same time. This must be normal in the rift, is there any known resolution? Thanks!!
  11. Just want to check if maybe something is not quite 100% or if this is what i should expect. I am running the SimShaker software connected to two aurasound shakers. The test sound works fine Flying the huey i seem to just get almost random short full strength burst pulses. For example i will take off and after 30 secs or so i will get a few half second pulses through my shakers and then nothing. Maybe while coming into land i may get the same for two or three times, just very short pulses. When i look at the visualization bars i see the same things, its either full on in very short bursts or full off. Not sure if this is how it is intended or maybe huey isn't properly implemented yet? I think i attached a partial screenshot to this post :/
