  1. Err no. In Lock On there was a satellite view. They took it out when they implemented the new mission editor in Black Shark and FC2, and haven't put it back in yet.
  2. Well, So about as often as you attack tanks I guess.
  3. What about: have two hidden groups, containing identical copies of your proposed SAM defense. Except set the units in one group to High or Excellent skill, and set the units in the other group to low skill. A trigger can decide which group to activate and spawn. Thus you have the same makeup of air defenses, but significantly degraded performance when command goes down.
  4. I honestly think if you're finding it easier to aim without the PAC, that you're doing it wrong :). Are you deploying speedbrakes on your gun runs by chance? You shouldn't be for PAC to work properly. Either way, you should post a track of a gun run with PAC enabled, as I really can't fathom how anyone could think that aiming without it is actually easier :). EDIT: Upon closer reading, I see you're engaging multiple targets on a single gun run. I can see why PAC could be a disadvantage in that scenario. However, if you're targeting individual targets which require very accurate fire (like tanks), then PAC is absolutely indispensable IMO.
  5. For the time being, why not just use the CDU to enter in the grid coordinates and altitude he gives? The JTAC verbally gives you all the information that would've been transmitted via the SADL.
  6. They're completely different sets of missions. However, you can access the Instant Action missions through the Single Mission menu, is this what's causing confusion?
  7. This was actually implemented in DCS: Black Shark (through the recon command), I'm surprised something like this isn't in WH. Maybe in a patch some day :D.
  8. Different locations: it can either be random, or you can select one of about a dozen or so areas in the Caucasus/Georgia region.
  9. Have you tried the Air-to-Air Training Mission?
  10. I agree with everything you said, except the part about it being better than the beta. As far as I can tell it's identical to the beta version, which isn't a bad thing because it was great in the betas. Except that it never generates any fighters, no matter what the setting.
  11. Wrong. Thermal imaging will not let you see through clouds in real life. Infra red radiation is highly attenuated by moisture, much more so than visible light.
  12. Very poorly, if at all. Graphics card is below recommended spec, and CPU is way below recommended spec.
  13. And that comment by "eagledcs" is certainly interesting, isnt it? :D:D:D
  14. You realize you just responded to a thread that hasn't been active since 2008, right?
  15. Edit: My mistake, poor reading comprehension :D
  16. I originally thought that's what was accomplished by the SIGNAL LTS BRT/DIM switch, but I was mistaken. Nevermind :).
  17. DOS
  18. 'Open' does not equal 'free'. It means 'available to the public'.
  19. This is already in the game. It's called JTAC. I assume you don't have the A-10C Beta? You can find videos on Youtube showing player interaction with the JTAC.
  20. You're right, my statement was too vague. The Ka-50 not only has asymmetric lift, but the asymmetry is coupled to its yaw moment, which makes it much it different than traditional fixed wing A/C. I think we can all agree with the above. Where our opinions seem to differ is, the Ka-50 isn't capable of flying without doing one of the above. And as such, flying "coordinated" in a Ka-50 means picking one of the above three in order to minimize the other two, whereas in a fixed wing aircraft you fly coordinated by minimizing all three.
  21. Hmm, you're right. The Shark can fly coordinated and wings level, it's just that in doing so it'll be flying a circular loop rather than a straight line.
  22. If by "perfect level flight" you mean wings level with no slip, then in no cases can the Ka-50 maintain perfect level flight. You always have to choose between either bank or sideslip.
  23. I agree with Bucic's assessment; it seems to me that in an A/C with asymmetric lift, flying coordinated (velocity vector is aligned with nose heading) means flying at a constant bank angle, which means that the ball will be pulled to the side by gravity. What's our error here?
  24. You paid $60 to preorder the final product. The beta that you've been given access to is a BONUS, and there are no garauntees regarding its availability or functionality. You can find all of this on the page where you bought the game. However, despite that, most people have been able to download the game without much issue. I downloaded the full beta 1, plus beta 2 and 3 patches, with the torrent over a Comcast connection, and each download took less than an hour or two. So if it's taking too long it might be a problem on your end.
  25. Well, it's no different than a guns or rockets run. Remember that the Mav seeker is bore-sighted when first uncaged. If you initiate the run-in from within the Mav seeker's range, it will take you no longer to let off a Mav or two than it will take to unload a couple hundred 30mm or a couple FFAR salvos.
