VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!
slug88 replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
Perhaps it was filtered by your spam filter? My mail was sent by "support@agentnano.com", and for the subject line had "Ссылка для скачивания файл". It contained a single link which went directly to the file. -
VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!
slug88 replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
You should have received an email with the download link. Mine showed within a minute of purchasing. -
Agreed 100%. And as Frederf stated above, the provisions for all these navaids are already present in DCS:BS, so I'd be very much surprised if they weren't available for use in DCS:WH.

Agreed with the posters above; the whole point of TrackIR in this instance is to separate looking around from flipping switches. In other words, look around with the TrackIR, but keep using the mouse to flick switches.

VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!
slug88 replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
Hmm, problem with the first mission here. My flight plan is screwed up, every waypoint other than TO is on the other side of the world somewhere. I checked the other missions in the editor and it seems to be the case as well. Perhaps corrupt download? Odd since it extracted fine, and images and voice files seem to be intact. I've attached a track of the first mission. EDIT: Ok, it seems I've found the problem. Clicking "Mission Planner" will break the mission. If this happens, restarting the campaign fixes it. I guess this must be a result of the "edit protection" you've implemented. So, a note to others, don't click Mission Planner! gv_m1_noPlan.trk -
I'd love to see Afghanistan. Varied landscapes and lots of historical campaign material, both for the A-10C and for the Apache and Hind we might one day see.

Don't have an ATI card, can't help you with the city shimmering.

joker, using the forum's search function and look for threads dealing with "NoCloudShadows". There is a NoCloudShadowsMod out there that I bet will fix your issue.
-
Windows 7. Use the search function and you should find a few threads on this topic.

I think holding down the middle mouse button will do the trick. Right click will just flip switches and rotate knobs in the opposite direction of left click.

If someone hosts a server with Game Mode enabled, then you can play multiplayer in game mode. Alas, as far as I know, none of the popular permanent servers have enabled game mode. You could always try hosting one yourself, and hope for other like-minded people to join you. Ultimately, however, the whole point of this game is to be an extreme fidelity hardcore sim. If you're playing in Game Mode, you're missing out on 70% of the game's value. You really ought to try taking a few days to learn the controls. Watch the Producer's Notes on Youtube for a video walkthrough of each of the Ka-50's systems. Once you get through all 8 or so videos, you should know enough to fly and survive in Sim Mode. Setting up the X-52 for Sim Mode is probably rather easier than you might think. If you haven't already, download the extended pilot's manual from the main page. Here's a direct link, but it may not work as you probably have to log in first to access it: ftp://ftp1.files.eagle.ru/dcs/manuals/DCS-BS_Manual_EN.pdf Once you've got that, go to page 6-5 (pg79 of the pdf), and you'll see a picture of the real life Ka-50 cyclic stick, and a description of the buttons on it. Same thing on page 6-9 for the collective. You'll see that your X-52 has far more buttons than the real life controls, and all you need to do is map the 10-15 or so controls to your X-52 to be ready to fly. With the exception of the ejection handles, the canopy door, and the throttle levers, every other function of the helicopter is accessible in the virtual cockpit via your mouse. The throttle levers can be mapped to one of the rotaries on your X-52 throttle, or to the flip switches on the base of your X-52 stick. If you do this, and get through the Producers Notes, you'll see that there really aren't all that many functions to learn, most of the switches are only used at start up and shutdown (which can be done automatically even in Sim Mode by a single cheat key-stroke, LWIN-HOME I believe). Furthermore, you'll probably start to realize that until this point you haven't really been enjoying the real meat of the game, flying and combat will start to become far more fun and rewarding, and best of all your original query will be resolved as you'll be ready to hop on to any multiplayer server!

You need to add the screenshot as an attachment to the post. Right now you have a link pointing to a file on your harddrive, which won't show up for anyone except you.

Cannot install the Patch! Says Black Shark not found!!
slug88 replied to Takira's topic in Bugs and Problems
Atlas, the Steam version already includes the latest patch. -
First, IIRC you don't have to destroy all of the target vehicles to complete the mission. In fact I believe that all you have to do is simply fly to the target area, and make it back to base. The idea is that you should try to complete the objective, but survival is the first priority and the only requirement to advance. I've only gotten halfway through the campaign so far, but I've completed most missions by simply unloading all of my ammo in one or two passes and then heading back to base, irrespective of whether or not I ever even hit anything. Second of all, this campaign takes place in what is essentially a WW3 scenario. If you read the initial brief you might recall that most of the Soviet forces deployed in Europe have been eliminated, and your goal is to delay the Nato advance until reinforcements arrive from the Far East. Basically it's a retelling of WW2 with 1980's technology. Given that perspective, do you still think it's unrealistic to assign Frogfoot on extremely dangerous missions with low odds of success? In the early years of WW2, Soviet forces, including aircraft, were routinely sent on suicidal missions in desperate attempts to delay the German advance. I don't see why things would be any different if Nato was advancing into Russia in 1989. BTW, it is possible to complete this missions without use of F10. I succeeded in one or two tries, and I'm an average Frogfoot pilot at best. In fact, the challenge of locating your targets the old school way is one of the most interesting and appealing aspects of this campaign IMHO.

AI Stand off behavior patch consideration?
slug88 replied to polygonpusher's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
To me this is a big problem, but I doubt we'll see anything until after DCS:A-10C is released. -
Hmm, well I'm pretty sure you're wrong :).

Will DCS: WH model the A-10's HSI / radio features?
slug88 replied to Smoky's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You can already do this with the HSI in Black Shark, so probably yes :). -
Don't disagree with any of that. My point was simply that, according to those figures, frontal penetration is theoretically possible, and based on this flank and rear penetration should also be (theoretically) possible. Basically I'm saying that if I were in an M1 and i saw an RPG-7 gunner pop up on a flank at close range, I might not be too terribly worried, but I wouldn't be laughing my arse off either :). And I fully admit that it took a lot of conjecture based on very vague data to get to that opinion, but I think it's somewhat reasonable given the data in this thread so far.

cb900_157, looks like this might help: http://war-hawks.net/private/index.php/trainmod/training-information After a quick glance at the site it seems it'll give you screenshots of every ground vehicle in the game. However there is no information regarding combat abilities and the like. Nevertheless it should be very useful for learning names and appearances! Found that great site by looking here: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Resources_for_New_Pilots#American.2FSoviet_recognition_guide_PDF
-
I'm sure the RPG-7 was fired hundreds (if not thousands) of times against the M1, but to judge the ability if the PG-7VR warhead, we would need to know how many of its type ever actually hit an M1, and where. Remember, the PG-7VR is a (relatively) newer T-HEAT warhead and much more powerful than other rounds fired from the RPG-7. All we know is that one has penetrated an M1's side armor in the past.
-
Indeed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG-29
-
You sure about that? PG-7VR penetration: 600mm RHA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PG-7VR Now, I couldn't find armor values for M1 sides or rear, but I found values for frontal armor: (M1A1HC, M1A1HA, M1A1D) Turret vs CE: 1,320mm - 1,620mm RHA Glacis vs. CE: 510mm - 1,050mm RHA Lower Front Hull vs CE: 800mm - 970mm RHA http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/abrams.htm So, according to those sources, the lowly RPG-7 has a shot of penetrating an M1A1HC frontally, nevermind the flanks. Obviously these sources aren't all that conclusive (all the values are estimates), but there you go. Furthermore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PG-7VR So if that account is correct, the warhead is certainly capable of penetrating the tank's armor and damaging internals.

Interview with Matt Wagner and New Screens from DCS: A10
slug88 replied to JelalTrueshot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Pretty sure it does in SP as well. -
Moa, it sounds like you're confusing Drozd for Russian ERA. It isn't ERA, it's a radar activated hard-kill anti missile device.
