Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
CrashO replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Well. I wasn't necessarily talking about having them spawn deep into own territory and fly half the map (empty or with small arms), to load up their toys at another base. What I meant was. Move the flankers/F-15/Mig to airfields deep inside friendly territory (e.g. Anapa+Minvody and Kobuletti + Tblisi) , and allow them to load up everything they need there. But also allow them to rearm-refuel them on any of the forward bases. And have those bases populated with interceptors/strikers/helicopters. Although having a "super-re-arm" base might be a good idea. It means they would have to fly a ton without refueling if the action is on the other side of the map. Because you will lose any weapons not in the airfields inventory, if you re-arm. (if i'm not mistaken, this is what was going on a while ago when red could grab ET's from the carriers, and they had to fly without refueling to Beslan to use them there. As long as they have to fly longer to compensate for having more punch. I don't mind them being able to re-arm on the frontlines. See it as a "thanks for not dying, so no more long flying" reward. -

Did a check on that yesterday. Currently: Gazelle-Mistral: Bomber + Crates Gazelle-M: Crates Gazelle-L: Crates And none of them can carry troops at the moment. So that makes the L only useful for moving fuel around.. So that one is probably going to be the best option to give troops, as it's similar to the Huey, in that it can only use guns + rockets. But is a lot slower to fly with. -

Instead of limiting and removing all options to even them out, and castrating aircraft, how about just giving them all their toys and let them fly as intended? But make them "more expensive" to use when they pack more punch. So decrease fighter lives from 3 to 2. But give them all-weapons and systems they are supposed to have. So ET, ER and Spamraam galore. Just limit them to main bases so they got to fly a bit. But let them re-arm and refuel their toys anywhere. And move the Mirage from fighters, to interceptors, so grouped with the F-5 and Mig-21 (and all QRA ready, fueled and aligned on front-lines). And when the F-14 hits, just give him his AIM54. And based on how it performs, decide how many lives it gets and how far the carrier is stuck. This also levels out the F-18, since the flankers got their ET's to counter the Aim9x. -

Well, it's not just the fuel that has been removed. so have been the MissileDetection system and the INS pre-alignment. Fuel+Rearming from 0% takes 3,5 minutes in the mirage. INS align takes 8 minutes. And while you can fly without aligning, by defaulting back to magnetic backup. It sucks thoroughly. So yes, less Mirages. But not just because of having to wait 3 minutes for fuel. -

I don't think you can. People who want to learn already do. People who don't care, don't, And just mimic what they hear on the radio. And even the other Reapers give me shit when I ask people (after they have done a radioCheck 264, after every startup...) to move that stuff over to 251. Most players just don't care. -

@Thymo Well, on communications there is a lot of "lemmings" behavior. If you got enough people using it correctly, the rest will start mimicking the communications. And communications are generally pretty good in those situations. About a 50% group who knows what their doing + 50% "noob" works itselfs out to some pretty decent radio chatter. But if the first group gets outnumbered 1/4 by the other ones.. it becomes noticeable... fast Those other times, you got one or two "TEST RADIO WORKIE?" people on 264,-, and before you know it everyone and their hamster are doing commChecks on GCI freq stepping over BRA's. And it becomes gradually worse from there. Then you also get the "Interceptor 69 i am seeing so... mething fly.... front me flying... he there... flying.... i see... flying ... i.. fire" calls every minute on 264. -

Well, the entire map doesn't have to go. Just it showing your location. You can still plan your flight whilst spooling on the ground. Most of the discussion is about getting rid of the "magical" function that provides your location on it. -

As someone who spends about half his time in blueflag flying the Huey. I don't have any problems navigating without the map. At startup I draw a line from my spawn location to my target. (something a magical marker isn't required for, and I could even do if we just had gadget) and mark that heading in my compass-ring. If it's a farp/commArray, i'll just start flying towards it at that point and start looking for smokestacks once I feel i'm getting getting close. If the target is an airfield, I enter one of the beacons at the airfield and check it's sort-off in the same direction my compass-heading that I setup is. And then just fly the direction it indicates. The Gazelle has it even easier, just enter the coordinates in the INS and fly the arrow. So if anything, all we need is radio beacons at the farps/sam sites. -

Well, you can plot your current location on those kneeboard maps (right-ctrl + K), but usually those maps only cover limited area (based on your flightplan). So it's usefulness as magic GPS is limited. It gives you a overview map centered on your first waypoint. And "zoomed" maps arround your waypoints. *edit* just did a quick test. One image shows 2 pages from the board with 3 waypoints in the batumi area. The other one has the 3 waypoints spread to the corners of the map. The "arrow" shapes on the flight line, are the plotted aircraft position (right-control+K) -
As was mentioned (about 3 times in the last 6 posts). 530's are rail launched. Mica's free-fall a few feet before firing. Could they be build onto the 2000C by the airforce? Probably, but if would require a significant frame and weapons computer revision, and was never done because they had the 2000-5... Just as the F-16A is completely different from later blocks. You can't just wack a 120C on a F-16 from the early 80s

Cue? Never said removing alignment wouldn't make a difference. As for fuel, I always said it wouldn't make any, because the tank is tiny anyway. Raptor (in the F-15) actually got pissed at me this morning because he had to wait for the mirage to align, while he was already fueled and spooled up, holding short of the runway waiting for his wing man. And the Mirage still had 5 more minutes of sitting pretty to go (wasn't even at class 4 alignment yet). Even though I spawned before he did. And conterary to what some believe, you actually do need the INS (and have if aligned) if you don't want to use the magic all knowing GPS F10 map. It doesn't make sense to me removing D2M for realism reasons, yet keeping a magical map enabled. -

I wasn't being sarcastic. I truly enjoy watching movies whilst on the apron. -

I love the aircraft balance at the moment. Especially the Mirage is nice. Spawn in the quick response interceptor for QuickResponseAlert purposes because hostiles are closing in on a base, align for 8 minutes, take off, shoot a missile at a SU27. Defeated, Shoot another one, hit. RTB while taking some minor damage to the wing. Back at the base 5 min after takeoff. Then... 3 minutes waiting for repair, 8 minutes for alignment (required after repairs) again. And repeat. Or without damage, do a refuel, wait for it to finish and then do a quick re-aliment (90seconds) again because the system gets degraded after rearms. Luckily the mirage carries a ton of missiles so you don't have to re-arm very often. Have been in the server for 52 minutes and spend about 11 in the air, with the rest rearming, fueling, aligning and re-aligning. Yet I haven't died once. Guess i'm lucky there is no SEAD around to lob missiles on the open apron while standing there. -
Because Razbam is crystal clear in communicating and engaging with the community. As opposed to some others (that shall not be named), that had so many ban-hammers swung around when people complained about huge bugs, that people just stopped posting, even though the issues are still there. I like the Mirage, it has some issues, but Razbam is on it. And in my opinion a lot less then problems a lot of other 3rd party modules are having and a whole lot more communication about them. 10/10, would buy again.

Think so. Didn't Russia only build 8 SU-25T's and scrapped the program (replacing it with 25TM) pretty fast? I smell some possibility's for increased accurate representations of real life :D -

Just spoke Ciri ingame. It's removed as a new feature, based on the real mirage not seeing real use with it. -

Nice mirage update :megalol: 0% fuel, fine INS alignment required, fine But did the D2M really had to be removed? -

Totally agree with above. Red needs to fly a whole lot to get to their defense lines. It's not red's fault they keep raping blue when no players are around to defend (I don't remember blue winning since the changes started), thus causing them to fly half the map to get to new territory. At least give red some closer jets, and give them ET and ER's (besides already having DL back) and while your ad it, just remove blue's jets and replace all their cap with spitfires. Then red finally has a decent chance. Then things are finally evened out. * dear red, please stop pulling the victim card every single post* -

So? Iran has Tomcats. It's a realistic red aircraft. -
They even use the yellow arrow when assembling spacecraft bound for Mars. So it must be important to have. :D
