Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

And the SRS using team is victorious again. Can someone give the mission a kick and reset it? :D -
Mweh, I would say the best tip in 2 words is "practice practice". I can fuel up my Mirage from ~400kg to 7400kg (3 bags) with maybe 3 or 4 disconnects after many many many hours of practice on the Mirage. But I have a buddy who can do it in 1 single refueling action without disconnecting even a single time. And he only flies the Mirage a couple of hours per month (if not less). However, he does have ridiculously many hours on refueling in the F-15 and A-10, and just applies the same skill on the Mirage. (The same buddy also regularly refuels a F-15 behind a IL-78, just so he can stay by my wing and doesn't have to divert to a KC-135..) It's all about developing the feeling. Once you have that, you can do it (in DCS). * For those interested in AAR. There's a bunch of it in the above video. Me in the mirage from ~1:00 - 3:20 and my buddy in a F-15 (behind a Russian tanker) from ~6:15 until the end.

Don't count on it. With the release of Normandy it's even expanding into having to buy the Asset pack if you want to host the asset items. So if a mission designer sticks a Jeep Willy in a mission, you not only are required to buy the asset pack if you want to fly on the server (whole separate discussion). But also to host a mission containing 1 or more items from a pack.

Then your royally dead , the mirage is 100% FlyByWire :D But the instrument you are looking for is the ADI (the horizon-ball-thingy below your radio freq displays / top right above your altimeter). It shows a vertical bar for the localizer and the horizontal one for the glideslope.

Nope. It's extra chaff+flares in your brake-shute compartment. So you can trade in your brake chute for extra countermeasures. (18 chaff + 16 flares, from the top of my head, might be a bit more or less :D )

I get hit by 120's in TWS without warning (or 2sec before boom) all the time. Only times I get a early warning is if the missile-launch-detection picks it up based on it's heat signature. But most of the time the F-15 will be above me so the sensors are blind as a bat.

Turn off `Easy Communication` in the DCS options. Normally your Mirage INS has a drift of a 1-2nm per hour. You can use known locations (such as landmarks) to update your position in-flight. If you use the menu-option, the drift is always 0. The aligment option saves you from having to align your INS. You can turn it to NAV directly after engine startup and everything works. If you don't have the option ticked, and you don't align. Your instruments will be (a lot) out of wack. Both these options can be enforced (to be on or off) by multiplayer servers, but a lot don't. On your weapon panel, after selecting rocket pods, on the top row. select EXT (for external), by default it is set to INT (internal). Or select both EXT and INT to fire 4 pods at the same time. Key changed, lock is only for Air2Air, use the "Magic Slave/AG Designate/INS Position Update" button. (yes, single button, 3 functions) Weapon computer doesn't agree with your run :P, check angle (20-25'), speed above 400kts and below supersonic

The Apache does pretty well inverted (when empty). Took these myself (no, they pictures are not inverted, gravity can be seen doing its thing on the flares :D ) #2016 Leeuwarden, Netherlands #2013 Volkel, Netherlands

The ability to enter the coordinates for any location and fly towards it? The F10 map is basically a cheat. Using the INS and lists of all airfields, you can fly to any airfield without having to use the all-knowing F10 map. If you have a GCI feeding you target (lat/long) coordinates, it gets even better. You can just enter them, and deliver your GBU's on the coordinates without having to ever look at your magical map. The same goes for landing. Of course you can use stuff like TACAN, but not every airfield uses it, coordinates work everywhere, anytime. And yes, you can call into the ATC (even from 100 miles away), but it's very helpful for your situational awareness, to know how far our you are from a airfield at any given time. Also the ability to enter waypoints based on what a buddy is telling you.

Server has been down for a few hours, any chance of getting it back up? -
Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I don't. Not sure what the "threshold" is. I know deploying gear above ~270kts is not encouraged. But I use it regually as an airbrake at speeds > M1.5 and no bumps or whatsoever happen :D And also have had times where I used it on a slightly speedy approach at 400kts, and had the whole plane shake.

Try writing down every switch you use while airborne, and how often you use it. If it's just a single click, it's something you can do it as part of your startup. If you use it more then that, bind it to a switch. I don't fly with VR myself, but after takeoff, generally the only time I have to use my mouse is to do emergency stuff (restart, fuel cutoff, etc). The rest is either done on the ground or bound to a switch on my Hotas. Only exception here is the INS. I got that bound to my numpad. (numbers to numbers, - to PREP and + to DEST, / to ALT and * to coordinates). Gives me control over all the INS stuff I use in normal flights, again without having to use a mouse. Great for entering waypoints blind, while doing your Taxi :D For inspiration, Zeus made a thread about it a while ago: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=175260

Not sure how much different the mouse interactions in your Oculus are, but in the Case of TrackIR. I have my scrollwheel-click bound to pause/unpause my trackIR. So if I need to click (a lot of) stuff I can just click the wheel once to stop the camera from moving. Makes it waaaay easier then straining you neck while trying to keep trackIR at the right place.

I agree. It has the best Cessna flight model out of all DCS aircraft once you get over 40knts and responds nicely to barrel rolls and keeping bank. Unfortunately, it's a helicopter and not a fixed wing...

For planes with a ton of buttons I can see it being helpfull, but for the mirage? If you learn something like 10 french words you can use pretty much all of the systems. Or even just the buttons locations and 2 words (Marche -> on, Arrêt -> off) And things like INS uses shorthand names and acronyms you have to learn, regardless of the language. Pretty sure the french labels are also easier when your looking for a specific function and googling for it. Since most people use the french names for buttons/functions and not the translated name.

Both 27ER and 27ET entered service in 1990. Disqualifying them from a 80s scenario :D

In the Huey using conservative loadouts I usually get 125 - 130 knots (level). In the Gazelle, 90 - 95. 120 only while diving of a mountain at 30'.. -

If you remove the troops from the gazelle no one is gonna fly the thing. ever. It's the slowest aircraft in DCS. Just say Russia started a alliance with Syria (who operates gazelles) and give RED the option to fly them too to level the field. It's less of a stretch then A-10's for red. -
You needed to embed the image url (so ending with .jpg) not the page displaying them. So in your case they where https://i.imgflip.com/1na1hq.jpg https://i.imgflip.com/1na1kx.jpg

The deadliest would probably be the Hawk. Chances of spontaneous self combustion are pretty high. :D

If it helps, I got a video from yesterday of the same skippy problem manifesting itself, on a oops-i-ran-out-of-fuel landing. So 15 seconds before landing the tanks are empty, engine dies and a few seconds before touchdown, all control surfaces freeze up. So the whatever i'm doing with my stick, the movements aren't transferred anyway :D Haven't got a track of it (was a really long session), but since I lost all systems, having the sick centered after aligning for landing should give the same result.. *You can skip(py) the first 40 seconds :D
