Great Work DC. Sorry been away a while and work getting in the way of a life. I'm not for from Marlow basically as you asked. Loving the work so far and Jealousville with that CNC and Laser Engraver. I've been looking at them both for ages and trying to justify them to myself along the lines of "He who dies with the most Gadgets wins" ;). Will be keeping an eye on this. J.

This runs Python (easy to code and read LUA) has onboard 30 I/O Pins and seems pretty simple to use as well as a very small form factor. I wonder if it would be any good as a small controller for Simulation? Any thoughts? http://www.micropython.org/ J.

Devon, If you find a good custom panel cutter in the UK let me know. I'd be interested too and not only for DCS. J.

Cheers Crunch. Much appreciated. J.

Whartsell, Count me in. Even if its just plans so that I can get them printed in the UK I'd be very interested. J.

that'd be great thanks Crunch. Much Appreciated :)

Does anyone know if they have got past the USB Controller issues? Unless I unplug just about all but Keyboard and Mouse it wouldn't even start for me. After a particularly unpleasant exchange with a forum member there (guessing a 10 year old) about me bragging about how much USB I have plugged in and I was showing off at having a Warthog and the MFD's Ive just left the forums alone. I noticed last night its patch 1.9 already so hoping it, and the associated controller issues are fixed? J.

Take your time my friend. I knew it was a personal situation but not this situation. As a father myself I can't even begin to understand where you are with this. All I can say is I'm sure everyone here and closer too have the greatest of sympathy and can only send our deepest condolences. Life always comes 1st so heal, mourn and be on your own clock not anyone else's. Take care and all my best hopes are with these few, insignificant words. J.

Thanks Whartsell. I hadn't caught that so good to know. What you guys are doing for this, and other sims in increasing our understanding is just amazing, thanks for all your efforts. J.

Whartsell, For us outside the US whats the chance of releasing (for a price) the PCB designs so that we can get them printed locally? Cheers, J.

If they stick to their standard for the X Games it will eventually be great. Sadly by then it'll be £5 on Steam and something like Chris Roberts Star Citizen or the new Elite that's being talked about will be out. I'm with you Scottt as given the above we have both wasted time and money to the tune of about £35 and should probably have waited a few months until it was in the bargain bin. I actually thought after a supposed 7 years development this one would be different...

I really wanted this to work but its total crud so far. At first it wouldn't even start. Then I read that more than 5 USB devices and it has problems. So I unplugged just about everything and it started. Now its just slow, buggy, glitchy and uncontrollable without a gamepad. Gamepad? What is this a Console Port? If so I think I will wait until its out on PS4!!!! For a commercial release its laughable. The best space sim at the moment? Kerbal Space Program :)

Matt, Much appreciated and thanks for the link. Does look cheaper too, I don't know why its so expensive in the UK compared say to Europe. I could guess but that's politics and best avoided ;) J.

Thanks Dime. Much appreciated. J.

Matt, Thats very cool and exactly what I had in mind. I already have a workshop full of the tools, I just now need to buy the Extrusions :) I like your practical solution there, and even though mines going to be fixed rather than portable its the adaptability, and mounting options that appeal to me. Did you plan it in 3D on Sketchup or an equivalent or did you do it by trial and error. Over here in the UK the extrusions aren't cheap and therefore I think I will need to design it well before I buy and cut. Do you have any pictures of it lit, your YouTube clip is a bit dark. Which size extrusions did you use? It seems Profile 6 (Series 6?) is about the right strength vs rigidity required for load bearing furniture? J.

Thanks MetalnWood. I'm seriously interested in this stuff for the reasons you mention. It may have to wait until Christmas is over but I'm definitely going to have a go. Rgds, J.

That looks great. So cool. Thats the sort of level of workmanship we can all strive for. Not sure mine will be as good, not even started yet, but I'll post here whatever I can. J.

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated, J.

Glider, Welcome back my friend and I hope all is getting easier for you. The UFC is looking amazing. Cheque book/Paypal Account ready and waiting ;) J.

All, This stuff looks really good: http://www.metallin.co.uk/shop/ I've seen it used in furniture and its really easy to realign and move elements. As such I think it might be good as a shell for a cockpit, easily constructed, movable at a later date and expandable as one sees fit. It also looks pretty cool and kind of tech sexy. Has anyone else tried this and have an particular issues with it? J.

Well, It looks like everything worked as advertised and everyone got out of it alive. Mr Howell's comments read a bit sensationalised (which Im quite surprised about given its the BFBS website reporting it) "all a surprise", "in the space of five or six minutes". I doubt it was out of nowhere for Shawbury ATC, or even a surprise as they would have had a fair amount of warning from whoever the Hawk was talking to at the time. The barrier was a standard response in my day for aircraft that may need it in emergency and was thrown up just in case anyway unless the specific type was not barrier cleared (usually too heavy or some other technical/safety reason). It sounds like it could be a possible hydraulics failure maybe bought on by the loss of the engine (no brakes/hot brakes if using manual braking) and makes slowing one down with no airbrake (as its under the jet and fouls the runway - therefore cannot be deployed when the gear is down) a bit of an issue. The fact that it took the barrier and stopped just means everything worked as advertised. Shawbury has between 4500ft and 6000ft (depending on whether its 05/23 or 18/36) and Valley has between 4200ft and 7500ft of runway (depending on either 01/19, 08/26 or 14/32) all of them plenty to get a serviceable Hawk down. Still, nice to see a good story about the old T1A after all of the bad press its had of late. Another interesting point is that XX303 is a Navy T1A jet. Or was last time the register was updated, the Navy Hawks are now at Valley too as some may assume its all RAF at Valley.

Thanks guys. Some seriously good work there that I'd seen before and definitely what I aspire to. The Gas Strut idea I really like the look of. I guess its finding the right one with the right tension (if that's the right word) is the big question. If I have more to ask I will, I reckon I wont get close to either of yours but I will have a bloody good go. Thanks, J.

Hi all, I'm thinking of building a collective for use with the Heli's in the sim. The one thing I find difficult to get my head round is how one keeps the collective in place without the brake that some I've seen here have? Also how would one adjust tension on this, I'm not sure how the mechanics of that works. I'd like to keep it Sim independent and probably use a Leo Bodnar board so any help on mechanics (I can do electronics easily) would be much appreciated. J.

why not? Flying is flying and training aircraft often aren't armed. I don't see anyone complaining about some of the other unarmed trainers in development (well not too many anyway). Is that just because they are military unarmed types and some here want to fly military hardware only? Having flown both in real life I find it difficult to understand why some would have a problem with military versus non-military types in this Sim. After all the experience in one is always useful in the other in more ways than just airmanship. As mentioned above if you don't want them in multiplayer sessions they can be designed out and if you don't want them personally don't buy/install. Isn't it that simple? J.
