Hey Glider, Whats the chances of an A10C AHCP, Electrical Power, Landing Gear and panels and the front fascia for the UFC? I'd pay up front for those if you're willing to produce them. I can even supply PDF's of each of the A10C panels if that's any help to you? J.

I used to fly Military many moons ago and now I only fly for pleasure. To be honest there is no feeling like being your own Captain and I actually enjoy it less when I have passengers because for me its the freedom and distance (literally) from the "real world" that I enjoy, having someone sat next to me kind of removes that distance for me.. If you can afford to do it for fun, and its not cheap in the UK, then do it. doing anything for a living can become a drag but that's true of all jobs and flying for a living isn't any different in my opinion. J.

Glider, Sorry I'm late to the party, its been a busy work life :( I'm very interested in UK panels so will be keeping a close eye on this. Thanks, J.

Combat, Looking good my friend. I will, as we discussed, also be following this very closely. Especially as I will be using the same company to cut my boards for me :). Just one question. are you going to do the center display too or just do that via HELIOS or another route? Best regards and best of luck, J.

I've just got back from this. Very good it is too. I don't understand all the controversy about the way torture is shown though. It doesn't show it in a good light at all, let alone support it. In fact it seems to show how little torture provided in clues and actually its good old detective work that broke the case. Katherine Bigelow was right to show it, not showing it would have glossed over the fact that it happened and there would have been controversy about that too. Jessica Chastain is brilliant in it and the last 40 minutes (the actual raid) are real seat of the pants stuff. Pretty good given that I went in knowing the story pretty well and also knowing the eventual outcome. J.

Guys, DCS is very processor hungry. The Graphics card isn't doing all of the physics and background tasks, that's down to the Processor. That is why you're not seeing any performance gain by changing graphics settings. Your processor maxed and it cant provide the performance required for DCS to be running at the FPS you're looking for. Even with my system (see signature) I get late 20's early 30's best on the ground and 60 plus in the air. There are still slowdowns even then. Crossfire wont work either, neither will SLI, DCS doesn't support it. Check a few threads here and even though this reply is a general simplification you will see it to be so. Rgds, J.

To add to Weta's point somewhat, maybe think about trying delivering said nukes to anywhere you want to send them without the Werner Von Braun rockets to sit them on top off. Oh and by the way it was Einstein (another German) who wrote to Roosevelt in 1939 and told him of the German efforts to enrich Uranium 235 for use in weapons. Until then the US and Oppenheimer hadn't really spent serious time and money on the theories. After that having them available and proving they work in Nevada is fine if all you want to go to war against is Nevada or somewhere else you can deliver them by road ;) In some ways were already the 51st State anyway politically. I've buried too many friends since my time flying in the RAF to not understand that following a certain Bush family into war makes the UK not all that independent anyway. I'm no fan of a fully combined Europe but I'm no more a fan of being told what to do and where when it suits someone else's interests more than mine either. Obama has said recently that the US needs the UK to still be part of Europe for influence and political reasons. I wonder if its in our interests, I also wonder why the most powerful nation on Earth (or is that China now, I'm losing track) needs this little speck of land floating off the French cost at all? Politics. Such a bad subject :) It creates men (and women) of great power who can bring whole nations together, but also has the ability to separate people, even people of the same nationality and basic moral code, who in most cases just want the best for them, their kids and their loved ones whilst just getting along with everyone else.

Thanks Combat, Bloody hell, Uxbridge is less than 10 miles from my office and only about 25 from home. Methinks they're worth a visit :) Thanks, much appreciated. Which plans did you use in the end Y2kiah's ones I'm guessing? J.

I'm not surprised it won, and also not surprised its now dumped either. Sounds like the standard protectionist system within the US. Anyone remember Airbus winning the future tanker programme A330, or Westland winning the future helicopter (Merlin) competitions and then being kicked out for some made up reason. Does Embraer have any Congressmen in its back pockets with a workforce that will be fired in his state because the usual suspects (Boeing, Northrop Grumman) didn't win again? I think not. Methinks usually having the best platform is often trumped by having a politician who wants another term in office every time. I don't have a problem with this of course, protecting your own military machine, being independent and not losing tax $ to other countries is a good thing to do, I just wish we, in the UK and Europe as a whole would wake up and smell the coffee. Though that said if Europe and the UK did that we'd be the only ones with the Jet Engine (BMW and a certain Mr Whittle) and Germany would have been the ones going supersonic first (given that Messerschmitt invented the all moving tail surface - a necessary control surface to enable control of supersonic aircraft at the time). Even more importantly Germany would have been the 1st nation to put a man on the moon given Werner Von Braun was the German that developed the US Moon Rockets :) There are plenty others I'd mention (anyone remember the Anglo-French Concorde being the 1st - read only- commercial supersonic airliner?) but its late here and I'm tired ;)

Combat2468, Where did you find to cut the DXF's for you in the UK? Im also in the UK and have been looking for the same. Also, if its not too personal how much did it cost? Cheers, JG.

No sign here yet (UK) buy Grayson's arrival gives me hope :) No rush, yet to do a panel or have a controller board in mind yet. J.
-
I'd find this useful too if anyone has any examples :) J.

Pretty much my experience of the 670 too. Your experience makes me think I need an i7 now though. Need is an overstatement of course but hey I'm a fully signed up geek :) J.

Excellent news. Cant wait to see mine. I'm already building a simple panel for it :) J.

I've only just got home from the festivities and installed X-Plane 10. 1st impressions are a little mixed, though they were with Flight Sim X. That said though the graphics are much more fluid in XP10 and I like the way that controls are set up too. As all of these things I think I need a lot more time and to spend some hard earned on some good UK Scenery products (I spent over £150 on Flight Sim X so looks like XP10 could be the same in extras!!!). At least in this case XP10 was a present and I only have to buy the upgrades. I'm not going to drop it though, even if 1st impressions weren't on a scale of those 1st time I flew DCS. I don't think its a a vs b vs c thing I think the proof of worth is which one you're still having a go at some 6 months later, which I must say at the moment is only the DCS Series. best wishes and a Happy New Year to all, J.

Payment sent Tom. Mailed here too. Thanks again for your efforts on this'd :) J.

Thrustmaster Warthog Extension
JaseGill replied to zahry's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Zahry, I'm guessing that's $100 New Zealand? I'm also guessing that it comes with the necessary internal cable from the base to stick? Just wanting to clarify that's all as I'm very interested in a Stick Extension. I'm loving project Icarus on your website by the way, very cool :) Rgds, J. -
I have asked for it for Christmas. Mostly because now that the afternoons are officially nights as far as flight rules are concerned here (well they are when I finish work) I can continue to fly and keep my hand in without having to take time from my real job to get some hours in. Am I right in believing that given I'm getting it bought for me from a UK based seller that I will get a UK based version of scenery? FSX in the UK is woeful unless you pay for scenery, airports and other extra's. I guess X Plane 10 wont come fully loaded with a photo realistic UK but I'm hoping for better than FSX standard scenery. Otherwise whats on the 8 double sided DVD's that come in the packaging? J.

LUA or HELIOS for Switches?
JaseGill replied to JaseGill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi all, Just in case anyone else is thinking of this I changed it and I think HELIOS is definitely the way to go. The LUA Changes you make (and any changes ED make when you update) are just too much bother. I set the AHCP and Electrical Panel up in HELIOS in about 10 minutes with no manuals, it was that intuitive. Altogether, from my limited use so far I'd heartily recommend HELIOS for a 2nd screen and now also for interfacing to the sim. Thanks Gadroc, you're a star :) J.
