Here are my specs TrackIR 4 (updated) Vista64 SaitekX52 2 x Saitek P990 4Gb

Thought i would ask again, one problem that has always plagued me in DCS is the shakiness of the TrackIR. seems to only happen in this game, when viewing the track views (Head, Gauges etc..) it is smooth as can be.. i've gotten around it by using the trackIR pause function during startup, once i don't have to click that many switches it more tolerable. i find it especially irritating when you are trying to look back to turn on the UAV and ekran, there seems to be some "bottom" out boundaries that you can't look down too far etc.. lately its just gotten to be a really pain. has anyone else experiences this? where when you look down or right or anywhere it just jumps, almost likes its trying to return to center. any suggestions on getting it to be smoother? i should note in other games it is as smooth as it can be, i play Arma2,Arma1,IL2,Dirt and Freefalcon 5.. just for some reason in DCS its super shakey.

if you disable SLI does it work?

i was sortof thinking the same thing, when DCS Blackshark came out the buzz was great and now that we've entered into the "long haul" part of the DCS developement it just feels a little empty.. but then again sounds like maybe in the next month or so things will change.

With the 1 year anniversary of the DCS release coming up (October 17th) just seems like it has gotten pretty quiet and stale on the DCS front. I know that A10 is deep in the works but just wondering if there is a plan for an update on sortof where other things stand (apart from just adding another aircraft) in the Digital Combat Simulator? As time goes on i am getting feeling that DCS Blackshark is losing longevity..

when you print it do Print multiple pages per sheet. and do 2 or 4 depending on how small you can read

The option is there for any "contract" style person to build and sell any dcs models, in the sim community i find modders sell their products anyways. The issue you have is demand, what percentage of the DCS users would even buy them? not to mention that DCS is so limited right now that more models are the least of what DCS needs. When all of the "base" functionality is there as far as planes, armor, etc.. then you may see more 3rd party Payware come out.

system specs including joystick hardware / software? my first guess without knowing your system would be to look at any software/hardware that deals with joysticks and keyboard emulation.

you want space combat arcade get Independence War 2 (Closest you'll get to a sim, it has newtonian physics somewhat), Free Space 1 and 2 (Best Story next to Tie Fighter and its free), X3 (very complex), Xwing + Tie FIghter + Xwing Alliance, Bridge Commander, Battlecruiser 3000AD (Free game, but very complex and somewhat bug ridden).. even tachyon fringe was OK you want a sim with no combat get Orbiter: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ (also free)

For me it seems simple in requesting but probably difficult in executing. the key for Combat AI is to be able to react to the players actions as a military body, and not just individual or small group AI. Individual Group AI is very important (Situational awareness). but for immersiion and the feeling of a living world you need the enemy AI to react as a whole something as simple as Ground unit hears Helicopter, it takes cover, Call in Air Support, Radio location to Airdefence sites etc.. etc.. it generates a web of AI reactions within the entire military presence within the region you are flying in that you can tangibly feel. this includes having enemy units having their own missions (instead of just sitting around waiting for you to hit a trigger) and being able to divert from those missions/actions or be interupted as chance happenings. This would also add a little more replayability to missions as the Ai may react to you different as a whole instead of as single units only depending on your own personal tactics.

in the Saitek Profile Editor remove all the shift states, this will allow you to then use them as buttons. the key is though when you assign the button choose New Macro instead of just assigning it or else you'll overload it.

i think this speaks volumes for how Falcon "Succeeded" as a product. The fact that Falcon 4.0 as a base has spurred on these modificiations for 10 years!! if you look at the mods too they add things like more avionics, more planes to fly, more of this and that. It is in no way changing what Falcon 4.0's Core goal was (To creat the fighter pilot experience).. Evil-bol its unfortunate that ED frowns on F4 so much and looks at it as "how not to do things" when in fact the philosophy and merit behind it is exactly how to do it. Faclon 4.0 more than anything was released too early due to the "corporate" world trying to get something out the door to succeed when in fact the people behind F4 where in it to make a really great sim. I believe ED's goals are similar but their strategy is different, in fact i'm not sure exactly what ED mission statement is regarding DCS. Is it to have high fidelity cockpits and then some scripted missions? or is their goal for DCS to have a living combat world? i don't know, i couldn't really find anything about it on the website. and understand that I only talk about this because I love what ED has done with BS, i want nothing more than to see it move into the realm of living world that F4 provides. If we didn't have passion over these types of things then nothing would move forward :)

after reading this it now makes much more sense why ED is not interesting in making a dynamic campaign... but it seems the complaints about hte AI and a Dynamic Campaign are one in the same. Making the world feel alive and allowing us to immerse ourselves in it. In that sense this has been hashed out many times in the dynamic campaign discussions. This idea of building a "world" instead of building just a simulator. There is a reason Faclon 4.0 is still so popular today amongst combat simmers, and that is its basic fundamental design principle of .. for me Blackshark is fun for flipping switches and flying around, shooting at a few things.. many times i find i enjoy just a joyride.. but not like in Falcon where everytime I go up there is a sense of a living world (even with its flaws).. with that said, BS is what it is. and from what i have seen indicate that DCS this way for a while, even with the A10 module coming out i haven't seen much interest from them in making that "living" world My gut instinct is that since DCS wasn't built from the ground up with this living world in mind will make it much more difficult to achieve.

TrackIR awesomeness and some issues
H-street replied to EtherealN's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
just a guess but probably a power issue, i know none of my dells have had seperate 5v power supplied to the hub and i'v ehad some devices have issue with this. -
probably because DCS doesn't use OpenAL , at least that is my guess. if they are still using Directsound3D then you won't get anything more than 2.1 out of the Vista unless you have an audigy/xfi with alchemy. just a guess since i'm not sure what they are using for sounds.

is it a hardware error rudder error?

DCS and Empire: Total War Demo possible issues
H-street replied to Coolhnd1's topic in Bugs and Problems
probably an update of DX would have fixed the issue, just goto http://www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/AboutGFW/Pages/DirectX10-a.aspx and do the install, it will scan your dx files and update as necissary. -
A conflict between TIR4 and BS regarding F9 & F12
H-street replied to advent_m's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
i found that ScrollLock works best for Center in games, but that is just me.. i then unmap most of the other TIR keys since i dont' use Pause, or precision. -
dont' get too discouraged, setting up your controls how you like them will take time. i suggest getting a profile and then editing it as a starting point.. These types of Sims/Games have a high learning curve, don't expect to jump in with a profile in a game like blackshark and immediately be fluent in the controls, even your own X52. with that being said the best way to really learn your controls is to build your own profile either in game or out of game. and then go fly, and test, and by the end of a couple of weeks you will be fluent in your controls of not only the blackshark but also of your joystick. just take it slow and have fun, learning and setting up can be half the fun. As far as where to start, look in the manual at the Collective/Cyclic control listing with the pictures and descriptions.. That will give you a great starting point at how you may want ot setup your X52. Then as you learn and fly you'll find other functions you want to remove/add etc. There is no real tutorial except on how to make a profile. Personally i tried to make my profile as close to the original Ka-50 controls as possible, but that isn't for everyone.. just dive in and have fun :)

what exactly are you trying to do with the weapons release? there is an issue with the X52 and the 2nd indent and the way it is handled in the profile. i don't know if the latest beta profile/driver software takes care of it but basically the software i am using the (latest official) doens't allow very easily the use of the 2nd indent for weapons release. Because of that i have moved the weapons release to Fire and the 2nd indent just isn't used. you can download/see (PDF) my profile here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35057 this is for the NonPro X52

on your bands and your mode switches you have to set them to a macro or else they will continuously send that keyboard command.. if you are using the mode or slider or rotary (in bands) and want to set it to a function set it to a Macro instead of a key stroke, that way it will only send the command once per entry into the band/key.. if not it will continuously send that keyboard command when at that position.
