  1. i tried to map mine as closely to the real cyclic and collective as possible.. (This is for the X52 nonpro) in the in it ended up like this for some reason i had a problem getting the [sPACE] and [R_ALT+SPACE] working, i know the X52 has problem with a Key and than Same Key + Modifier for Buttons 1 and 2..
  2. first right down the blue screen code, that at least gives you a clue as to what is happening.. especially the module that that is causing it. then check the even viewer, then run some simple tests like MemTest86 .. Are you overclocked?
  3. They should be up, if not here is a mirror site.. you can just browse around in the MFD pics.. http://www.insidetheshell.net/~avonnied/RedViperX52/
  4. you can mouse wheel zoom out if you need to, not sure how to set it permanently..
  5. My Hardware Vista64 X2 5800 4Gb DDR2 250Gb HDD Audigy2 Platinum ATI4850.. when switching from Theatre Map View to Cockpit view it doesn't muffle the sounds correctly - it sounds like when the door is open or in external view. switching to external view and then back to cockpit view seems to fix the problem..
  6. i think he meant here the HOTAS forum http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=96
  7. nice job, I found the best way is to find a controller company with good software. i made a Falcon4.0 MFD out of a pair fo Saitek 990 controllers.. At the top you'll see my prototype and at the bottom the Version 2 (the one i have used for hte last 3 months). On page 2 is another persons build using the LeoBodnars the Handheld arcadey controls are great because you have a good mix of buttons and rotaries, and most is already to go.... and the rotaries can easily be used as straight up buttons using the SST software... the reason i chose saitek is because they are cheap (the 990 i got 2 for 20$) and their software allows for complete custom mapping of both the buttons and rotaries. eg.. the Saitek990 has 18 buttons and 4 rotaries, and 2 shiftstates (i use it to switch between left and right MFD control) I see you found the joy of allelectronics.. lol i got my buttons and switches from their too.. Great price and fast shipping. infact half the fun of a good sim is building your own controllers.. Makes playing the games so much more fun :)
  8. that seems a bit expensive.. i submitted it online just to see how much it was and for Black and white double sided w/ color front page and bound manual was only going to be 38$ As far as the copyright material goes, is there a chance DCS could print on the Front Page some sort of Copy Disclaimer (like it is OK to make 1 copy for personal use)
  9. did you have Bank/Pitch/Alt hold autopilots on? (Right, bottom panel, below the PVI - 4 lightup buttons) in the training missions/auto-startups these 3 autopilots are on.. i made the same mistake when doing my own startup sequences. without them On the helo will be very difficult to control, trimmed or not.. to help in your trimming push CTL-ENTER to bring up the control viewer, it will show you where you are trimmed at but make sure those 3 (Pitch and Bank at least) are on.
  10. Should be up.. i think the server connections been having issues the last 2 days.. hopefully everything is fixed now.. i just tried, connection seems to be working..
  11. SLI now works with 180 drivers http://www.slizone.com/object/sli_multi_monitor.html i think your ownly option is CrossFire has supported multi for a while now.
  12. There is actually more truth here than you may realize, but the immersion factor doesn't come in graphics or button mashing or cockpits (although we love them, DCS is right there).. It boils down to the basic philosphy difference between , say DCS and Falcon. when it comes to falcon's main strength and, in my opinion, why it is so enduring. in the end Falcon 4.0 was the complete package. The Plane and the War, and with the many mods it only got better on the Plane side :) By now you can see half of the endearing of Falcon 4.0 is its dynamic War simulation. I highly recommend reading the Appendix in the F4.0 manual. The idea behind it is truly amazing and unique in the sim genre. DCS on the other hand is not so much about the Ka-50 combat experience, or learning how to be the helicopter pilot in a larger war. Its more focused on the helicopter itself, while at the same time providing some great play grounds to go and test your skills. at this DCS has succeeded in every way. To say either one is the most detailed sim ever is a stretch, but i will say that Falcon is probably one of the defactor standards by which all sims for the next 30 years will be compared to. Even Armed Assault should probably be looked at as far as Sim detail goes, it may not do everything as physically accurate, but tends to simulate the battlefield pretty well. (and TrackIR + ArmA is awesome!) As more DCS modules are added on, i can only hope that the experience will move the detailed aircraft to a way that we can move the experience beyond graphics, button switching and cockpits and into really getting that War experience :) i think this quote sums it up best from the F4.0 manual appendix When we can combine the DCS high fidelity Aircraft with Falcon 4.0's combat experience.. That will probably be the Holy Grail of simulations. Especially considering DCS is moving towards adding more aircraft and helos. Getting those into a great experience together will be key to rounding of this already great Sim. :smartass:
  13. should be no problem , i use an ATI4850 on my 37" @ 1920x1080 for BS and even with AA /AF fully on i usually sit at 64% GPU usage.. BS is heavily CPU dependent.. the only time it spikes up is when there are a lot of particles on the screen. Eg. if you go down low to the ground and kick up a lot of dust my GPU usage will go to 89-93% usage.
  14. Uploaded a new version (0.6) with some minor tweaks and changes.. i flew with this version for quite a while last night and i really like it.. in the future the toggles may get turned into communication buttons (Request Takoff, Landing etc...)
  15. Here is how i do it now, Do startup proceedure. Bank, Alt, Pitch auto pilot on push forward on the cyclic until the Rctl+enter is exactly 1 diamond above the center line (the bottom of the diamond touches the line)- Press and Release T.. the diamond should stay where you had it when you pressed and released T. now throttle up.. you probably won't be far off and shouldn't go back. i found its essential to start out with the right trim, or else if your like me, you'll overcompensate. its all i've been doing for the last 3 hours is practicing my h overing.. i was actually able to set it dow on the carriage without damage :)
  16. wow this tweak is great.. i was getting low FPS (20) and with this i immediately boost up to 30fps.. (1920x1080/medium/textures high)
  17. Here is how to set the trim, that Ctl-Enter is a life saver.. Here you can see where i've set my Trim Here is the actual hover (no adjustment from the joystick)
  18. yea its just me, i can never remember the shift states.. for Falcon 4.0 i ended up making some custom controllers to help the situation. Here is the MFD/ICP Falcon controller i made
  19. Updated 12-16-08 v0.6 Here is my Work in progress, might be a good place to start to at least build your own.. I haven't gotten around to testing the Collective Spotlight Slew yet, but should work.. This also has a profile included for the Saitek Gamers Keyboard command pad. The only requirement is you have "Enable Clutch Mode" checked in the Gamers Control Panel. This makes the clutch a working button.. Or remove the assignment from the profile. Things i'll probably change in the future is remove the Wheel brake from the POV2 , i tried to match the Cyclic as close as possible. also one note is Trigger = Cannons, Trigger 2 = Release Weapons.. Versions DCS Blackshark v0.5.pro (PDF View) DCS Blackshark v0.6.pr0 (PDF View) (ChangeLog)
  20. See i love the advanced commands, things like "Request Take-off" become a breeze :) if anyone wants here is my DCS Blackshark v0.5.pro (PDF View) Work in progress, might be a good place to start to at least build your own.. I haven't gotten around to testing the Collective Spotlight Slew yet, but should work.. This also has a profile included for the Saitek Gamers Keyboard command pad. The only requirement is you have "Enable Clutch Mode" checked in the Gamers Control Panel. This makes the clutch a workign button.. Or remove the assignment from the profile. I have run into the Right Shift bug in SST before, i have never figured out how to do RightShift + commands successfully.. Good thing nothing on the Collective of the Cyclic require a Right Shift + Command.. This is exactly what i needed, to be able to see where my trim was being set.. Great learning tool..
  21. I was programming my X52 last night and if you right click and do New Advanced Command, it makes the distinction between Right and Left Alt/Shift/Control.. i learned this because my keystroke i had CTL+C wouldn't close the door lol! but the advanced command works.. when i get home i'll upload my X52 profile for anyone who wants to use it as a base for making their own..
  22. Hopefully first on the list is a dynamic campaign addon :) (i'd easily pay 20$ for that option) has there been any more talk about adding a dynamic campaign.. i love the blackshark, great fun.. reminds me a lot of Falcon 4.0 in its complexity (I play the Redviper mod)... hopefully with the A10 addon we'll have more wind of a nice dynamic campaign addon so we can play war :)
  23. Initial Takeoff Trim? Loving the game, finally got the startup sequence down where i can do it in 45s or faster now.. Once i get airborn i am doing well, even landing isn't a problem.. my big problem seems to be the initial takeoff, when i go to hover my trim seems to be messed up, the helo will immedately either pitch back or yaw one direction.. how can i set my initial trim to be that of the current ground level?
  24. I'm having an issue with the TrackIR 4.. when i look forward in the cockpit it is fine, if i look down or any direction and try to click on anything its near impossible.. the Screen shakes so bad that i'm not able to click on anything in the cockpit.. i checked my TrackIR guages, and they are rock solid when i move around.. meaning when i move my head and hold it, the guages don't show any of the motion shaking that i am seeing in the sim.. I am on the latest TrackIR software..
  25. I went through most of the tutorial and decided to try a few missions, i'm finding i'm starting in the air, already airborn.. how do i starta mission on the ground pre-startup.. i just went through these great tutorials showing the complexity of the game (startup proceedures etc..)but i haven't figured out how to start missions that way (not into the campaign yet)..
