Hey guys, I haven't updated my copy of DCS: A-10C in a while and am just wondering how to go about doing it without messing something up. Currently I am using version 1.1.1.1 but would like to update to the latest version in order to play online. I found a link to download version DCS: A-10C version 1.2.2, and was wondering if it is safe to apply this to 1.1.1.1, or am I missing quite a few updates in between 1.1.1.1 and 1.2.2?

Does anyone know how to post as a guest on the Baseops.net forum? I'm having trouble registering as a user. Thanks guys, cheers.

Thanks buddy, was in the LASTE settings under LAAP (low altitude auto pilot?).
-
Anyone know what the auto-pilot is called in the control setup page. I'm mapping keys again after being away from DCS: A-10C for a while, but for the life of me can't find the word "auto-pilot"! Thanks guys, cheers.

I was wondering if it's possible to get your AI wingman to lase a target allowing you to then use LSS\LST.
-
That's very strange, has anyone else had the problems that I'm facing?
-
I tried your mission and it seemed to work. This temperamental ILS is really starting to get to me.
-
Yeah, I don't use the yellow bars anymore, but I know it was runway 07 because I've successfully performed an ILS landing on that runway before. This time around all of the red warning flags were up and no Morse signal was being broadcast.
-
Batumi worked for me too, but when I decided to fly to Kobuleti I got the same problem, no ILS signal, even though Kobuleti's divert page info says it has an ILS on runway 7 at 111.50, and I know for a fact that Kobuleti has worked for me before since that was the first airfield that I even landed on using ILS.
-
Woops, forgot the localizer able switch. Surely, though, with the warning flags everywhere I would not be able to even get a signal at all?

Here we go guys, hopefully this will shed more light on my problem. ILS.trk

Lately I've been doing some bad weather ILS training but for some reason I don't always get ILS indications on my ADI even though I set it up correctly. I always choose airfields that have ILS systems available, and then set the correct ILS frequency, power it up, and select ILS on the NMSP. I take off, come around and line up with the correct runway, but I'll get no ADI indications. Do some airfields have broken ILS systems sometimes? I ask this because at one of the airfields, its ILS system was working perfectly fine in clear weather, but when I changed the conditions to dense fog, the ILS system no longer worked. I thought that the whole point behind using ILS was for safe landings in IMC.

Awesome, seems to work now, thanks a lot Aries and Vyrtouz!

Still doesn't work. No .txt.acmi files get recorded after I play the tracks back :/
-
How do I get DCS tracks into ACMI format? My TacView doesn't record them automatically even with auto-recording chosen.
-
Hey guys, I commented out those TacviewExportDCS.lua lines, but TacView still can't play any of the .trk files. I'm using 1.1 BTW, but Aries did say it worked for him using 1.1. I dunno what the heck I'm doing wrong.

Awesome stuff, that sorted it out. Thanks.

I'm sure you've all had the problems that I'm about to mention, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to solve them. The first is that the TGP diamond in the HUD disappears when the gun reticle is placed over it, but that little diamond can really help accuracy during low visibility or long range strafes. I have a partial fix which is to lock a maverick on the target and then use guns (the Maverick reticle does not disappear when the gun reticle is placed on top of it), but obviously if you've used all of your Mavs you'll be back to square 1. Secondly, usually when going in at high speed for a strafe, the TGP diamond will move around and not stay on target when trying to adjust the plane to line up for the gun run (it'll also give a gimbal roll sometimes). I'm guessing this has to do with the TGP having a hard time tracking when negative Gs are encountered (i.e. when pushing the nose down), but I find this strange since the Maverick has no problems at all with negative Gs and can track perfectly every time with no movement whatsoever. So, if anyone knows how to solve these two problems of mine, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey guys, I played a mission today that involved some ships with AA capabilities. I wanted to destroy them with some AGM-65Ds but just couldn't do it. I could lock the ships up on the Mav video screen, but once fired they would never destroy the ship, and instead would land just next to them. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Cheers, Alexrey

I was just wondering why you can get GPS and dumb CBUs, but you cannot get laser guided CBUs. Does it have to do with the violent "bang-bang" maneuvers that current LGB technology performs that would mess up accuracy due to CBU spin?

Maybe I'll give it a go and add some structure to the random missions. I guess there's no harm in trying. I'm heading back to university tomorrow since my mid-year holiday is almost finished, hopefully then I'll be able to try the online aspect of flying. Can't wait, since I've essentially learnt most of the A-10C's systems and weapons (currently on page 451 of the manual :P) but have run out of single player missions to test them on.
-
That's good to hear, looking forward to it. If I add my own units I'll know exactly where they are and it'll take most of the challenge away from the sortie, it's kind of like writing a book just so you can read it, the excitement has gone before you've even started.

I was wondering if ED is thinking of improving upon the random mission generator in the near future. Right now I feel like it's seriously lacking in its ability. I've used it a few times and it seems like a complete free for all with no strategy present anywhere on the battlefield. All it does is plonk a few units down and gives them simple waypoints that make them drive in a straight line until someone decides to blow the crap outta them. Each mission is the same, and so far I've found no static air defenses present. Couldn't they even try and make a few different random scenarios for us, such as destroying an airfield or providing CAS for friendlies before they infiltrate an enemy town? It would be nice to actually generate a random mission and after completing it be able to say "wow, that was pretty damn awesome", instead of thinking that you just wasted your time.

Well that's what I actually want to know. If it's not realistic (which thanks to your responses has shown me this), then I won't change sensitivity settings. Time for the long road to refueling I guess.

1) I've heard people say "use your jammer to make the SAM lose its lock", but I don't know how this is done because the jammer always on standby and only goes active when a missile is in the air heading towards me. Do you put the CMSP in manual mode to have free reign over your jammer or is there a way to do it in semi-active mode as well? 2) Some people say that they decrease their flight control sensitivity when doing A-A refueling. Is there some way to do this whilst in the air? Also, surely its unrealistic to decrease sensitivity since A-10 pilots wouldn't have this option in the real world (or would they?). Thanks guys, cheers.
