I sent it into the local computer shop since I was sick of trying to figure it out myself. They checked the PSU and said it was working fine, and I know that the GPU is fine, so it's either the CPU or motherboard, and I'm going for motherboard. I left it with them and they said they'd have an answer by tomorrow afternoon. And yeah, I believe that a capacitor did blow because there aren't many components that can make the popping-like sound I heard. I asked the guys about re-soldering on a new capacitor to the motherboard, while I was there, but they said that it's not that simple because a motherboard has 3 layers or something like that. Is this true (i.e. just soldering on a new capacitor will not fix the MB and I'll have to buy a new one)?

I just checked my motherboard for blown capacitors and cannot find any. The sound that I heard when my PC "packed in" wasn't exactly a "pop" as I had said before. It was kind of subtle but just sounded like something not too great had just occurred. I remember at the time I was about to put some files into a new folder that I had created.

I don't think that test will work because I still can't get into Windows even with the 7600GT in the GFX slot. I get the same black screen with a blinking cursor as well. My system specs are as follows: GPU: Sapphire HD4850 1GB CPU: Core 2 Duo E8500 RAM: 4GB DDR II 800MHz PSU: I can't remember what model it was, but I remember that it was a Thermaltake that wasn't cheap. Motherboard: Also can't remember what it was but I do remember that it wasn't cheap as well. OS: Windows 7 64 bit Murphy's Law, just as I get Windows 7 64 bit and am able to play DCSW in all its glory, my PC dies, gotta love it.

Yeah I asked my brother and he said that it was a 2 year warranty :(. The weird thing, though, is that after taking the 7600GT out and putting my HD4850 back in, I tried starting my PC up once again. This time the screen came on and everything worked fine, but it couldn't load windows. It got to the stage just before the "loading windows" screen appeared, but instead of having that screen, it just had a black screen with a blinking white cursor.

As the title says, I think my graphics card just broke. I heard a kind of "pop" sound and then my PC shut down. When I turned it back on again everything ran fine but the screen stayed on standby (orange light). Does anyone by any chance know what Sapphire's warranty is for their HD 4850 1GB card? If it's 3 years I'm in luck, if 2 then I'm outta luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys. Cheers, Alexrey

Thanks guys.

Hey guys, My tutorial on countermeasures broke before I got to the part where you dispense chaff and flares manually. What key in the controls menu allows for manual chaff and flare release and is it possibly mapped to the CMSP DISP ON/OFF? Cheers, Alexrey

Thanks a lot for the help guys, cleared it up perfectly for me.

Hey guys, Is it possible to have a dynamic/moving SPI? For example, point tracking a moving vehicle and setting that as your SPI. If this can be done then would it be possible to slave a Maverick to this dynamic SPI, or does Maverick SPI slaving only work on static targets? Cheers, Alexrey

Try selecting a weapon first in the DSMS and then try; that fixed it for me, although, as Viper says, you don't usually need to do this to get TMS UP to work.

Oh, so what exactly is the Sensor Point of Interest? Is it just where the sensor is looking at the time (i.e. the TGP could be looking at something in INR mode and that would still count as the TGP's SPI?). Back onto the topic: did you manage to get the same problem as I did, with TMS UP and not having a weapon selected?
-
It's the precision guided bombs tutorial, just before you hit the range. So I can go into TGP Area and Point tracking modes without having any weapons selected?
-
I see that my problem was very simple. I did not have any GBUs selected in the DSMS page prior to pressing TMS UP. I think that this tutorial as a big issue there because we are told to go to the TAD page and then straight after that we are told to use the TGP and TMS UP to go to point track (without first selecting a weapon). For newbies like myself, this could cause a lot of confusion and frustration!

Hey guys, When flying DCS: A-10C and using Free-Track, the "FreeTrack interface" and "TrackIR interface" options sometimes become unticked in Free-Track's Output tab. Anyone else had this problem before, and if so, how did you fix it? Cheers, Alexrey

Thanks Iceman, unfortunately I already have that installed.
-
Hmmm, I just tried out the Precision-Guided Munitions tutorial and TMS UP no longer works, this is so frustrating!
-
Looks like I wasn't holding TMS UP for long enough, sorry about this and thanks for sorting it out, it works now.
-
I'll re-map it to RCTRL + V and see what happens.

I use the Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner. I have also tried setting the TMS keys to LCTRL + Up/Down/Left/Right and that still didn't work, so I don't think that it is a problem with the joystick. I also have DMS, Coolie Hat and Slew controls set to my POV Hat Switch using a key modifier just like my TMS setting and I have no problem with those as well. Very weird. EDIT: I've tried pressing it for under a second and for over a second but it makes no difference.

Hey guys, I've been going through the training missions and for the life of me I can't get TMS UP to work! All the other TMS axes work except this one. I've mapped it to RALT + POV Hat Switch Up, so it isn't set to the default setting anymore, although that shouldn't make any difference. I've got stuck in the basic bombing and navigation missions because I can't get past the part where I have to use TMS Up to designate something. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Alexrey
