    Cheating

A good starting point would be to reread the topic on LRM, so you can clarify for yourself what it does and does not do. To give you the 2 sentence explanation: LRM tries to make LockOn more realistic by working around some of the exploits in the game. However, it can only do this with the commands a pilot himself can give. What this means is that, for example, to stop you from taking off from taxiways, LRM will engage the wheelbrakes and throttle down the engines so you never go faster than 70 km/h when on the taxiways. It does this by sending pressing 'w' or 'PgDn' for you, just like you would do yourself if you wanted to slow down. In the same way, LRM could never influence missile behaviour like G-limits or rocket thrust, simply because you, as a pilot, cannot do so. To claim that games on servers are modded to control missile behaviour is ridiculous. This whole thread and the thread on the German forums is primarily due to a misunderstanding of LRM.

    Cheating

No, that is what you make of it.

Honestly, solid teamwork is the best defence against any cheat.

    Cheating

I am a toad pilot! :music_whistling: Yes, getting called a cheater because my wingman told me there was bandit on my flank... The bandit whined that at 20 clicks I couldn't have known he was there and that hence I must've been cheating. Instead, my squadmate who was some 50 clicks behind me had him clearly on scope and guided me to the bandit while covering my back when I extended.

    Cheating

Hear hear! It is just silly when people have to start calling others cheaters because they got shot down and can't explain it. Instead of learning from the engagement and improve their flying skills, they think they are already Tom Cruise and hence the other guy must be cheating.

If by modifications you are referring to LRM, I strongly suggest you reread Yoda's posts on LRM and GGTharos his post in this thread. One of the reasons for using LRM is that it prevents clients to run LUA scripts locally! The LRM code that is enforced from the server runs server side copies of Tacview, LO Virtual Panel, and other things. On these servers, clients can no longer run their own LUA programs by including them in export.lua! You are completely wrong by suggesting that the LRM mod enhances cheating. It is exactly the opposite, it stops people from using their own LUA scripts to cheat! On any server that does not run LRM but has exports enabled, pilots can use Tacview on a second monitor to cheat, use ECM scripts to prevent blinking, and who knows what not. What you are suggesting is just complete nonsense if it concerns LRM.
  7. Impressive recovery! From the landing speed I got the impression the HUD was showing speeds in knots and possibly altitude in feet. Is Russia moving away from km/h in speeds and meters in altitudes?
  8. Amazing find! Thank you very much for posting it here! Great to see the weapons they had in stock. Seems like S-25's, BetAB's and FAB's (can't tell if they're 100 or 250's). I hope there'll be an Afghan theatre with DCS:Apache and DCS:Frogfoot.
  9. Congrats! :yay:
  10. Best thing to learn the autopilot on the Su-25T is to learn trimming in the Su-25. This one doesn't have an autopilot, so once you've learned how to keep a trimmed aircraft, you won't really need the autopilot in the 25T. I know I was struggling with the AP in the 25T, but once I mastered the vanilla 25, the 25T became so much easier to fly.
  11. Good stuff DArt!
  12. I think I may have AMRACT somewhere, but it is on a machine I can't access until the weekend. However, if you want simple mission rotation, Dedmac is more suited. AMRACT is really for if you want to do objective based mission rotation. Unfortunately it never really caught on...
  13. If I look at the traffic our Lock On server (<51>Dedicated) has been getting these last few weeks it seems interest in Lock On is picking up again. June 2009: 1908 pilot flighthours July 2009: 1071 pilot flighthours August 2009: 1060 pilot flighthours September 2009: 854 pilot flighthours October 2009: 663 pilot flighthours (Oct. 1until Oct. 19) This may be because the holidays have ended and people are coming back to flying. Furthermore, this month we are running the server with 'messages off' and we still get 20 players on it regularly. Yesterday 4c ran a stress test of their server and apparently they got 49 pilots on it at one point. I guess some Lock On pilots left for DCS:BS, but there are still plenty flying a 6 year old game :D

Thanks guys! Let's hope this'll be a good year... DCS:Hog, FC addition and who knows what more!

    Free rep day!

Does this apply to the vanilla as well? :D
  18. How not to do airdrops
  19. Yes, it appears these give it some forward velocity but also let the missile spiral towards the target. These rocket motors might be used for targetting, but perhaps the vanes at the end do so to.
  20. Vikhrs are targeted by flying through a laser beam. Hence, the missile has a sensor at the back that measures how it is positioned in the beam. Because of this, the rocket motor cannot also be at the back of the missile.

  24. What are ED's thoughts about having AI forward air controllers? I'm thinking about giving a ground units a FAC task, or having a specific units (like infantry) acting as a forward air controller. These units could be placed with friendly units at the FEBA and, through a specific channel on the radio, can guide the Ka-50 or A-10C pilot through its target during a CAS mission.
  25. Don't tell me they've written off another Su-35?
