  1. I can ping ED's main server, but still cannot see BF, running with admin privileges on latest beta with firewall disables. :cry: Interestingly, the server appears and I can join it only when it is empty. :huh:
  2. This is clearly affecting many people: this topic has about ten posts yet thousands of views... Can ED please comment on that issue? Is it being addressed?
  3. I have upgraded to 2.5 but still cannot find it in the server list, nor connect by entering the IP address (91.205.184.66:10308 right?). I know this is a common issue, but my firewall is not blocking DCS, I can connect to all other servers. Any idea of how to fix this ?
  4. x2 in game MSAA is already good enough, are you sure that adding some NVCP settings on top of that add more AA ? If so, at what cost approximately in terms of FPS ? Thanks
  5. Nvidia control panel settings now seem to work in game!!! It never worked for me on both beta and alpha, now I can finally have cheap AA and Deferred Shading :)

  7. But what year are you simulating ? That is the only relevant question here, and there cannot be a satisfactory answer. Countries do not synchronize and introduce their latest tech the same year obviously, but rather by increment. So chosing the year that introduces the aim120 as the "official DCS timeframe" (if there is anyting like this) is already a bias. For instance, the 120a was introduced in the USAF in sep 1991 (wikipedia). But the USSR had introduced a year earlier the E variants of their R27 missiles, so what if we choose 1990 as the official timeframe, would you be ok with that and ready to give up on your F15's FOX3 capacity on multiplayer? Probably not... Lets go back to the 120c case. It was delivered in 1996 (wikipedia). The french MICA EM (equivalent) was also delivered this year: so it seems unrealistic to let 2000c face 120C. By that time all major nations had equivalent FOX3 capacities. So for both balance and timeframe consistency pruposes 120c shouldnt be in DCS IMHO. Or else give me 2000-5 and Su-27M with R77 :)
  8. Hello, I am having a very weird issue with SR: the application runs at very low fps. It is hard to describe, but whenever I launch SR my screen starts blickering, goes black, and then SR window appears. And it runs so slow I see a it takes almost a second to just switch menu (over 4-5 frames). It still works, i can connect to some servers and communicate, its just very tedious to start. Is anyone experiencing this ? I have a Nvidia graphics card with updated drivers and a gsynch 21:9 z35p monitor. EDIT: Reinstalled drivers and now it works
  9. Probably working fine. Shockwaves are not as steady as you'd think, so this ON/OFF sound is quite plausible given you only hear it at certain angle (probably crossing the bow shock front). But hey, if you want to be sure: measure the Mach, ambient temperature, pressure of the missile, and then verify using this calculator (Real gas effect neglected) if the ON/OFF sound effect appears at the correct camera angle ;) http://www.dept.aoe.vt.edu/~devenpor/aoe3114/calc.html
  10. This is really immersion-breaking to me. The cockpit, the lighting, all is superbly rendered yet spoiled by the canopy jagged shadows traveling around... I guess I'll stick with "flat" shadows too.
  11. Hello, I am having issues with shadows in the cockpit which aren't well rendered (see pic below). This happens at max settings (except Depth of Field), in different planes and in both NTTR and caucasus. I tried using the NVidia Control Panel instead and played with many parameters including the transparency AA (x8 supersampling) but to no avail. The shadows are still very sawtooth-like. Does anybody know how to fix this ? Is there a way to increase AA specifically for the shadows ? Thanks

  13. Hello, I haven't played the Mirage in a while, and noticed this morning on the inferno server that there was a circle in the center of the VTB screen while I was flying. Also, I couldn't fire any weapon although the gun/master arm were on, the radar was emitting and the target properly STT'ed. I assume this is related and my radar started in a mode which prevent the use of weapons. Any idea what I did wrong and how I could have resolved this? Do we have to manually prepare the missiles beforehand ? Thanks

  16. Hello, Quick question on lock warning : Do other planes get a warning when I lock them in TWS mode (or is it just in STT) and reciprocally do I get a warning if another mirage TWS me ? Thanks

  18. I see, thanks for the reply. True, I probably shouldn't bring my "FC3 playstyle" into the mirage... but my joystick doesn't have as many switches anyway, so I need to make some changes. At least until I can afford the warthog! :joystick:
  19. Hello, I am very new to this module and am still trying to figure out an optimal HOTAS configuration for my T-Flight Hotas X. One problem I'm having is with countermeasures. I can't find a way to simply allocate to 2 buttons (say 4 and 3+4) a "1 flare" and a "1 chaff" programs. I can map the "panic release program" and "decoy release program" to some buttons but only the later can be set to "flares only" or "chaffs only" programs. Since we have a limited number of countermeasures, I'd rather avoid waste. The indirect alternative is to assign some buttons to the countermeasure program selector, and then one to "decoy release program", but that's not very optimal. Is this what experienced dcs pilot do ? Also, I read some old topics discussing the easiest way to select the various A2A weapons. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't a simple "weapons cycle selector" button, right ? So far, I have just mapped the cannon, magics and 530 to buttons 7,6 and 5 respectively. Same question: is this what most users do or did I miss a more compact configuration?

  21. No, the instructor is not on hold, he is stuck : the access to the runway is blocked by a vehicle. Here, I've enclosed a screenshot :
  22. Yes, he is stuck in front of the same vehicle which is blocked in the middle of the taxiway. There is no way around. This happens right before the runway (is that what you call alpha?).

  24. Hello, I tried mission1 four times already, with and without the startup assist from the instructor, but I still have the taxi bug : the access to the runway is blocked by a vehicle (always at the last turn). Has anyone found a workaround ?
