  1. Hi, Essential, no, but useful they certainly are. Checking wingman position is good, and also when looking for bandits on your tail. Best regards, Tango.
  2. It'll happen. I couldn't hover for **** last week. Now I can just about hover where I feel like it and still be in control of the aircraft afterwards. Quite a feeling of accomplishment when that happens. Best regards, Tango.
  3. Hi, My advice? Forget everything else until you can think this thing right where you want it and it goes there. ;) Don't think I'm kidding, either. O/T slightly: I started flying Falcon back in 1997 and for two years couldn't figure out how to fly and fight at the same time, until I just started busting up the airfield and knowing where I was, where I wanted to be, and became One with the aircraft. Now I'll kick anyones arse any day of the week. That's how I'm approaching BS. Sure, I know enough to fire off weapons, but the radios, ABRIS, data link, failures (sort of), and tactics aren't there yet. I'm just getting to the point where I can start thinking about the battle and not about where I want the aircraft. This after nearly 30 hours of flying the Black Shark. This is most certainly the most fun I've had in a long time! :joystick: Best regards, Tango.
  4. Ahhhhh! OK! Best regards, Tango.
  5. Hi, My post was merely an observation of behavior that I don't think should be occuring in flight that is unprompted by any apparent external factors. I'm not sure if the two phenomenon are related. Best regards, Tango.
  6. It's the only solution. Take off or destroy the aircraft. You'd never get it shutdown quick enough to stop it. Best regards, Tango.
  7. Hi, Anyone else find that in level flight with no change of configuration or trajectory, that the Shkval will reset for no reason? I catch it periodically - I get the test card come up. I'm not sure if the weapons system resets though. I'm correct in thinking that power setting (yellow levers) is LOW, AUTO, HIGH? Is this LOW idle, HIGH idle? In HIGH setting the turbines act as if in AUTO mode. Best regards, Tango.
  8. Hmm.... I'm going to create a new thread on this too, but anyone else find that in level flight with no change of configuration or trajectory, that the Shkval will reset for no reason? I catch it periodically - I get the test card come up. I'm not sure if the weapons system resets though. Best regards, Tango.
  9. Someone posted a clip here of ground resonance occuring to a Bell with skids at the start of a TV program. The filming continued but you can see the pilot rush off the pad before the helicopter self-destructed. I've managed ground resonance in BS by landing heavily. Best regards, Tango.
  10. Hi, Do the following: * Avoid high speed manouvers * Avoid pulling g and pulling collective * Avoid rolling hard left at high speed * Avoid yawing hard right then hard left at speed or with the collective pulled hard * Avoid pitching hard with the collective pulled hard After several blade collisions, you know when you're going to do it, and so you're more careful. The easiest way to avoid a collision is be smooooooooth. When trimming, be sure to be quick sync'ing your centralization of the controls immediately after you release the trimmer. I highly recommend you put this on your stick, as it makes it easier to sync the action. After a bit of practise, you don't even know you're doing it. How many ways have you broken it so far? :D I managed a new one today - slamming one lower blade into the boom. It got a bit shaky. ;) The really neat part was watching it fly off in front of me. Very realistic, and it left me thinking "OH **** there goes my rotor..........". :D If you think you've done something that will result in a blade collision that didn't happen yet, drop the collective, and slow down (operating the cyclic GENTLY!). Here is some background to the co-axial rotor design. Will hopefully explain why you experience what you do in certain manouvers etc..: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coaxial_rotors EDIT: Maybe not... What you're seeing in your first pic is this: the advancing blade rises, and meets the retreating blade on the upper set of rotors, that drops relatively. The faster you fly, the more lift is generated by the advancing blades, so the distance between the lower advancing blade and the upper retreating blade reduces. In order to roll, you tilt the disc. To do this, you increase the lift generated on one side, and reduce it on the other. This has the effect of raising the advancing lower blades further still (if rolling left), and reducing the lift generated by the retreating blade on the upper disc, and in combination with high speed flight or lots of collective, and you get a blade collision!!! Blade angles: = slow, level flight > high speed level flight Best regards, Tango.
  11. ????
  12. Hi, Go to the side panel, and look for BEACON or ANTI-COLLISION light. DOWN is OFF. :) Best regards, Tango.
  13. After talking to several RW pilots (fixed wing), they say flying a sim is harder than the real thing. One thing they all complain about (interestingly) is how much delay there is between moving the controls and getting a response. I can't say I notice it, but then I'm usually using a computer when I'm not sleeping! :D Best regards, Tango.
  14. Hi, Works fine here! I shutdown, changed load, restarted, etc.. - no issues. Best regards, Tango.
  15. I'll try it. BRB. Best regards, Tango.
  16. Why doesn't someone host a TS server? Meet there. Best regards, Tango.
  17. I agree, however I'd go this far: model the switch (so it moves and clicks) even if that switch does nothing else. ;) It will at least satisfy those of us who like clicking switches!! :D Best regards, Tango.
  18. ??? Best regards, Tango.
  19. I agree with the above! It's a fantastic sim, and I'm really enjoying it. Yet to fly online, which will be interesting! Great job, ED! Best regards, Tango.
  20. Hell yes I've cracked this now!! :D My SA just went up a few points. Best regards, Tango.
  21. Lock, ID, shoot! :D Best regards, Tango.
  22. I find he's useful for recon! :D I'll give the order to spread out. Hopefully will help. Best regards, Tango.
  23. Hi, Yes, I understand that. Can you get a lock afterwards? Best regards, Tango.
  24. Hi, I know what the OP means to an extent - I find it very difficult sometimes to land on the land without bouncing around crazily. The only safe spots are roads and rooftops. I think I know why you feel that way (<< long time F4 pilot here), but forgetting the fact that individual missions are scripted, the units themselves have autonomy (or seem to) to an extent, so that's good enough for me! I've got over the whole scripted campaign thing now. Best regards, Tango.
  25. Hi, :D Anyone else find that their wingman likes to fly into them? I find it is a particular problem when doing short stops with 180 reversal. He should maintain vertical seperation to avoid collision. Best regards, Tango.
