HELP! Recentering Cockpit Camera View
Tango replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Just press "5" on its own. Does that work? Best regards, Tango. -
Are you able to get a lock?? (TA)? If you are getting a range, the laser is firing. I find that for no apparent reason I can't get a lock. I'll let you know if it does it again. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, IAS rules! GS is for navigation, not flying. ;) Best regards, Tango.
-
Hi, Got it figured out - I had FD mode on which prevents it working! :D I can hover on my own, no probs. ;) Just flying and shooting gets a bit much sometimes (no HOTAS). I've also tweaked FreeTrack so it is easier to use the cockpit now (disabled the Z axis). Best regards, Tango.

??? I wouldn't have selected SLI AA if it didn't. ;) It is explicitly a different mode of AA. Best regards, Tango.

Hi, I re-configured my controllers so I have Target Lock in easy reach. No issues since. :) Thanks! :D Best regards, Tango.

Problem firing missiles in realistic mode
Tango replied to roybaty's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hi, If in AUTO, you need to be within launch parameters before you are cleared to fire by the fire control system. If in manual mode, check: * Master Arm ON * Vikhr selected You can fire snap-shot with the Vikhr if you really want, but it's not recommended. Best regards, Tango. -
What is it with autohover? WHY WON'T IT HOVER? If I hover, then activate the mode, it doesn't want to know. I want it to hold it where I put it. I know what has been said in the past regarding autohover and its use, but I need to use it as I can't fly and shoot at the same time (not enough hands/joysticks/keyboards). Best regards, Tango.

What the hell??? Everything looks good, have TR in the view, go to lock a target, but nothing???? When I do eventually get a lock (TA), I can't fire, even though the reticle is over the target???? Extremely annoying, especially as I have insufficent keys on my stick to assign the TARGET LOCK function, and the last shot I took was good!!! What am I doing wrong??? I'm within limits for everything. Do I need to wait for the weapons system? Did it jam? Did it get shot and damaged (I'm not aware I was being shot at)??? Best regards, Tango.

Hi, It does. SLI is actually something that is supported in the graphics driver, and not the software. Whether SLI offers any advantages depends on two things: * Whether the app itself uses the GPU for what it was intended for (some apps merely use the GPU as a display device and nothing more, meaning there is no advantage) * How much processing the GPU is doing as to whether additional processing capability can be used to the extent it is noticeable. If there is only enough work for one card, then additional cards will serve no useful purpose. I run my card in SLI for 8x AA - it results in no performance hit compared to no AA (7950GX2). Best regards, Tango.

Hi, WRT starting the engines: * Fuel quantity - CHECK * Fuel valves - OPEN * Fuel pumps - ON * Rotor brake - OFF * Throttle - LOW IDLE * Fuel cut-off - OPEN * Engine starter - SELECT ENGINE * Starter - ENGAGE * Parameters - MONITOR I find I can start either the left or right engines like this, no probs. I usually start #2 first (the right-hand engine). Best regards, Tango.

I agree with amalahama. OAT is a needed parameter to fly properly. I don't know if any coding updates are planned, but it would be nice to see this functioning properly, especially as icing is modelled! I'm a bit surprised about some of the decisions made. Best regards, Tango.

I thought air-to-air was achieved using the Shkval in Air mode and the gun or Vikhr??? Best regards, Tango.

D'oh!! The problem is INU mode selection!! Page 82: 11. PVI Master Mode selector :D Worked great that time! Best regards, Tango.
-
Hi, I follow the notes from the manual on "Engine Start and Power Tests Procedures" (Page 267). It seems the INU just doesn't want to align (it appears this is automatic, with it getting its position data from the ABRIS?). Best regards, Tango.
-
Hi, OK - I've read the manual - how do you do a full alignment of the INU from cold and dark start-up?? The unit is non-responsive to input. It is powered, but I can't get it to do anything. Could someone talk me through the correct switch-flipping, button-pushing sequence please (as it relates to INU power-up, alignment and programming ONLY)? :helpsmilie: Best regards, Tango.

You're reasonably safe from VRS if you keep a good airspeed. 50 kph or faster will see you clear of VRS, but you've got to watch that pull-up at the bottom if you're low to the deck - the manouver could cause a blade collision from the high g manouver in combination with pulling collective. If you're low to the ground and you've entered VRS, drop the collective and side-slip aggressively. This will enable you to clear VRS with minimum loss of altitude. Dropping the collective might seem counter-intuitive, but this reduces the down-wash produced by the helicopter and enables you to clear VRS quickly. Best regards, Tango.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :D Best regards, Tango.

I'm loading that as I type! I think yaw stabililty was my biggest issue. How does this work in the real thing then? Surely if I applied full left or right yaw, that I'd get maximum deflection of the controls? Best regards, Tango.

TOW the most feared low altitude air defense?
Tango replied to mjolner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Holy cow - THAT'S why I keep being shot down?!?! I'm not usually much further than 2-3 km!!! Too much strafing at 600 kts in Falcon I think. SAMs in Falcon = they're toast 99% of the time...with guns. Best regards, Tango. -
Hi, It's definitely imporved without Yaw stability, even with combat load!! :joystick::thumbup: I don't mind working the controls to keep the thing level! ;) Who wants to donate some rudder pedals? :D Best regards, Tango.
-
Is it possible to trim without trimming yaw? I'd prefer it if it didn't trim yaw. My kind of flying. ;) "Must" as in "mandatory", or "must" as in "best practice"? If it is permissible to fly without stabilization, I might actually get on better with it. Best regards, Tango.
-
Hi AirTito, Thanks for that, but if you watch the video posted above, it yaws (for real) quicker than it does in the sim. I'll post the track. I'll go check out your flying! I definitely need rudder pedals - will make a lot of difference to the precision of my flying. I shouldn't need to trim. All trim does is release the loads on the controls, that's all. Full deflection should be full deflection regardless of trim. Still not convinced... Best regards, Tango.
-
Hi, I had to check my config to ensure I was getting maximum control deflection, which I am. So.... Anyone find this thing is a bit slow on the yaw?? I saw a video of a real Ka-50 doing yawing motion and even flying backwards at the same speed, but I'll be damnned if I can do this in the sim. :joystick: I'll see if I can find the footage. EDIT: Best regards, Tango.

RSBN is a form of VOR/DME, but much more precise. Best regards, Tango.
