Well if you want it to be realistic you'd have to think about reflection and ambient lighting right? I thought it was that simple.. It just doesn't look good for some reason.

Thanks for the tip! I found it hard to find a colour that would work.

Released! Always enjoyed the look of Blue 12 but he was missing a gruppe buddy! So I started working on a fictional "Blue 9". I'm using the 2004 Merrick colour swatches with some modifications (81/82 combo and 76 Green Blue for example). The underside is partly inspired by a 1:48 Eduard D9 (late) manual I have laying around. Dropbox link here Hope you guys like it, I normally do quick custom ones for Photoshop fun and this was the first livery I actually took my time for. :v:

^^this^^ Also remember, the Luftwaffe suffered immense casualties during take off and landing.. so I guess ED did their job correctly.

Just keep trying mate, I know arcade mode can save you a lot of headaches (and maybe some swearing) but in the end, "realistic mode" is way more rewarding. Just keep at it! If you find yourself failing too much in a row, load up an airstart mission and wreck some transports =) It took me about a week of cartwheeling and nosegrinding but even I made it! Hang in there and have faith!

Ohhh man! Online with this is going to be amazing. I think I'm sticking with my D9 for some time, mostly because it's a challenge to master flying it. But to have 109's beside me will make me feel more secure in hostile skies!

Hence why ground personnel always helped the pilot climb out of the cockpit, man it must have been exhausting up there!
-
On the throttle! :) I suggest rebinding it to something accessible though, like the twist function on your joystick.. or if you have a physical throttle maybe there's a slider on that which you can use. The closer in reach it is to your fingertips, the better. It will prevent you from chasing the range instead of shooting the plane!

Just asked a week off! :D Curious about the news update though..

Inspired after the famous Blue 12 from JG6, this one is fictional but made with realism in mind. Primairy colour themes are RLM 74/75/76/81/82. For those who need a gruppe buddy for Blue 12 ;) -
Ehh I enjoyed shooting my flare gun over the shoulder towards pursuing Russians in IL2:BOS. Wouldn't mind using it tactically though, maybe I do care a little about this possible feature.. Instead of typing in text "HELP MY SIX PLS" just load up a red flare and press the trigger.. *pop*. Friendly identification should be easier this way as well.
-
Came up with all of this in a 2 minute Google. The flares could be fired while the gun was "holstered". the projectile would fly out of a port in one of the lower front windows (triangle shaped ones) I don't really care but it would be extremely useful!

Thanks =) you can download it at ATAG. Last one I'm (spamming) putting up here: Waiting for K4 got to me.. hehe.. -
I think from todays "gaming industry" you guys should be glad as hell about the fact that ED likes and CAN take it's time to perfect things. Seriously, not many studio's or companies offer their devs this flexibility anymore. I wouldn't care if they released K4 in 2016 if it means it will fly/behave like it's supposed to do!

 Thanks guys!

Sorry :) Thread related: how should the K4 handle on take off and landing? Compare it to an F variant 109 or even the Dora if you can. I'm quite curious.

No sorry, I'd rather take my own screenshots :( Finished my personal winter camo. :pilotfly: -
I think a lot of players/followers think ED works with the speed most mainstream companies do.. The more time they take, the better imo. Played around with the AI yesterday, not really intending on killing him but just nipping away at his aircraft in vital parts (elevator, wings and engine) and then pushing him into high speed and low speed manoeuvres. He was leaking fuel, his radiator burst and his wings where hit + I got a load of 20mm and MG hits on the engine and canopy. I noticed his speed dropping and his turns getting wider and wider. Kept flying like a champ though lol, after 20 minutes (!!) I shot his wings again and they snapped. For that to happen it took a total of 5 (visible) hits on the roots of the wings. An AI that has been hit is a bluffing AI to say the least. Step up ur game people :joystick:
-
I read some time ago they used to need some room for a good roll-out when landing, no brakes used.. just the resistance of the tires on the tarmac would slow em down. only after they get under +- 80 kph they would tap the brakes.
-
If only we got this.. one day.. Yes bb pls <3
-
Has anyone ever seen an AI pilot stall out? Sorry if offtopic, but it seems like something logical to happen when you shredded some wings and he tries to go high-G.
-
I like how folks state their somewhat exentric opinions without elaborating on it. Agreed the 20mms are underpowered but the targets seem to take damage realisticly.. for me atleast. It's more about the AIs reaction to that damage, they adapt to and manage the damage too well imo.

How about a Push into America?
-
~Inside the Ai's mind~ *Ai target gets peppered in the wings and tail* "Oo boy the Player gave me a challenge today" *re-adjusts, shifts to a different dimension and keeps on flying*

I'd be cool with some less detailed AI models if the goal can't be reached. As long as the yanks have something to escort and the fritzes have something to destroy!
