I understand and agree, However that’s not always due to high ping. I’ve had this happen several times even in a dog fights against Saburo, and both of us had fairly low ping at the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It may “break” the game, but there are places in this world where the ping can easily get as high as 400 on a regularity. I’ve seen these pings numerous times when flying multiplayer on burning skies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Some players can’t avoid a high ping due to where they live. I would think ping limiting is gonna discriminate against those players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Eekz, why exactly are you switching to the Open beta version??? I mean it’s Beta so it’s gonna have issues. Seems to me staying with the release version makes more sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Haha no man, not at all. I enjoyed flying with you and was just trying to touch base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Any suggestions for a training plan?
Campbell replied to xvii-Dietrich's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Yes, keep in mind my time frame was reference to American fighter squadrons. The BOB boys where barely out of diapers. It took a special kind of either courage, stupidity or both to jump in a Spitfire for the first time after only a hand full of flight hours. It’s crazy when you think about the fact that both the mustangs and Spitfire where so new that there where no training versions of either. The first time a pilot flew them where solo. Says a lot about the resolve of the British and American airmen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Interesting! From most of the history that I’ve read most squadrons had about a years worth of overall training. However, that training including primary and combat training in an assortment of aircraft. There was no TF51 at all. The first time most squads set foot in a P51 was when they got to Europe with their squadron. Then they would do a few weeks of intensive training flights in the actual P51 learning takeoffs, landings, emergencies and combat employment. There where other units in theatre that transitioned from other combat aircraft to the mustang but they would typically have far more training and combat experience. Eekz what do you think, any chance we might see “simple radio” in the near future on the server? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I know this not server related, My apologies. But does anybody know “Sandman”? He flew with us this evening on Burning Skies. I was trying to find him on the forum but there’s to many with the same name. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hey Eekz, I don’t normally complain about such things but I had a great flight this evening. I only died twice in game, a black out and a bail out. For some reason the in game stats gave me 5 deaths. I have no idea where they came from???? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

=BURNING SKIES= WWII Server From my experience on ACG that hasn’t been the case. I’m not saying players don’t fly up there, I just personally haven’t seen much of it. You could always add it to the mission and give it a trial period and see how it works out. I would love for the fight to get higher and off the deck and I could always be wrong. I’m not sure how the A2A stats work, but I get what your saying. If they count then it skews the stats and if they don’t count then what’s the point? Unless you split the stats from PvP and AI bombers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Personally I don’t think so, as much as I would like to see the fight go higher, I just don’t think having arbitrary bombers flying around will do it. I think they’ll just get ignored and players will continue to focus on ground targets and lower altitude fighting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Engine Failure during normal flight
Campbell replied to Irishlad200000's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Engine Failure during normal flight Gave your settings a try. I liked them! However the first sortie I flew on burning skies, using 40% fuel, MAX RPM and 52” MP. I also pre broke the wire for WEP. Took off and climbed out at 200mph. Reached 12,000 ft leveled off all things green and looking good. Flew about another 2 min and BAM! Engine blows. I had to dead stick it in for a landing. I never even got about 52”MP. Second sortie, same thing except this time I didn’t pre break the wire for WEP. Flew as normal with 52”-61”MP and Max RPM (never used WEP) Had two kills and lots of maneuvering. No issue lasted a good hour and returned to base for a landing. I personally never use WEP because it seems to me that when I break that wire my engine will blow regardless if I use it or not. If I do use it just briefly in flight and well within the limits it will still blow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Engine Failure during normal flight

Engine Failure during normal flight Yea I get what you guys are saying. That’s why it’s just a theory, I have no evidence to base the theory off of, just observation. I usually carry 40% fuel like “Voodoo Man” but I’ve still experienced it. “Hub” you are correct you would think that you would get some type of indication prior to failure (like in reality). I’ve been flying professionally for 20 years in the real world. I’ve never seen or heard of an engine failing the way this particular failure occurs. Only mechanical failures cause the prop to seize and even a catastrophic failure will run extremely rough (tearing itself apart) prior to the seizure (I know from experience). Prop engines don’t usually just stop unless you pull mixture or run out of fuel. Even a blown engine will keep spinning, it will run rough and have a dramatic loss of power with large quantities of oil and water escaping but usually won’t seize until the power gets really low and the mechanics stop the prop momentum. Your settings play into a theory I’ve had about this issue for awhile. I’ve often thought that this issue may not be module related but instead be internet related. All of us experience ping issues with the occasional lag or spike on the server. Here’s my theory- Everything is running as it should, your at max continuous (46mp 2700rpm) and temps in the green. That’s what you see in the cockpit, but then you get and input/output lag spike from the server, you don’t see anything in the cockpit change, However, the sim may interpret this lag spike with a fluctuations in the throttle response. I think the sim is spiking the throttle setting (causing it to act as though you slammed it full forward) even though you didn’t change a thing. This would cause a very high over squared engine (MP much higher then RPM) Bam! Engine breaks, but you never actually see this fluctuation take place in the cockpit. This situation could only occur over a network and on a server. It could never be recreated in a single player because theres no server! If someone is using your settings to fly with. Then in theory this over squared situation should never occur due to any input or output lags or spikes because you are always running max RPM.Thus never experiencing this particular issue. Your thoughts??? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -

Engine Failure during normal flight
Campbell replied to Irishlad200000's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Engine Failure during normal flight You misunderstood what I was saying. It’s a bug that’s difficult to recreate because it’s so random. It happens fairly often, everything in the green running fine at max continuous then “bam” prop stops dead. I was pointing out that this bug is a different issue and separate from running a mismanaged engine. A mismanaged engine is not a bug and will kill it very quickly.
