I’m sure it’s a bug, it happened to me just yesterday during multiplayer. There so many of them it’s hard to keep them apart. That’s not an uncommon one, it strikes at random and is hard to duplicate without doing obvious engine mismanagement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
Just from my personal observation I’ve noticed the majority of players during the week appear to be online sometime between 19z-23z. I believe it’s during this time window that the server gets overlap between European and United States based players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yep! A lot of us are in this same category. With me it’s more about the piss poor DM. However, like you I know lots of players that have left due to the frustration caused by the lack of (perceived) concern for the issues. I don’t believe player numbers are a reflection of the current mission or a reflection on Eekz and his work. The majority of these controlling issues are outside anyone’s control except DCS. I have no problem finding air targets. Finding ground targets can be a challenge especially when they are bugged and can only been seen from certain views or distance. I focus more on Air to Air with the occasional ground pounding. I’ve had no issues finding air targets. Are you keeping your labels on by default? More targets would be nice, but you originally stated that “distance” was keeping players away. No, distance and time in flight are fine. More targets would be good. However, participation is low due to frustrations with the bugs and DM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yes that is correct it takes about 20sec or so to fully open. If you have your volume set high you can also hear the motor running as they open and stopping once fully open. Normal operations are in auto you can tell this by the covers. If the covers are down then they are in auto.

=BURNING SKIES= WWII Server Hey Eekz who is on your Burning Skies Team Speak channel? The last couple time I’ve tried to use it there where some very immature and rude kids on it. They where on all channels speaking different languages. Their names are not familiar and there not flying on Burning Skies. It’s made the team speak channel unusable. I guess the reality is that those like us will always be in the minority vs those that just want to grind. And thanks to ED (Spitfire issue) the player base is becoming smaller and smaller. I’m literally seeing the same hand full of names on the server all the time and it used to not be that way at all. The during the week players seem to be diminishing leaving the weekends the only time for any real PvP action. Last week the server was a ghost town every time in got on. Thanks man, I get where your coming from and I think it’s not only the current situation that frustrating me but like you said it’s a “niche” and I’m seeing a lot of good pilots and good friends abandoning DCS due to all these things. I’m already in a squad thank you. A lot of us that continue to fly this sim and keep this community alive dislike the “grind” in the current mission. We prefer to fly in a PvP server as either elements or squads with some level of historical realism. If we wanted to fly the grind we could all go to the “other game”. But instead we politely request changes to the missions that fit a little better with the realism that DCS offers. Take “Normandy Anticipation” that’s a far better mission that was built by Eekz based on feed back from the community. The only real issues it has are all DCS related and out of Eekz control. I really want to believe that, I really do! But I haven’t seen anything lately to tell me that’s true. I understand that making to 2.5 change took a lot. The F18 is coming out and thats great! But what about all the other aircraft that are still in Alpha or Beta or the Maps that are still Alpha. The multiplayer is stilled bugged by crashes and memory leaks and players have been clamoring for a new damage modal for over two years. I’ve been a fan for a long time but my patience is wearing then. ED doesn’t appear to be listening to anyone and they rarely seem to actually finish anything, All I’ve seen for the past two years is release then abandon and move to something new. I’m honestly trying to be patient to see what happens after the final 2.5 release, but a lot of players have already abandoned DCS making the community smaller by the day. I’m with you, that Caucuses mission is horrendous. I feel like all the action is 10nm from base and on the deck. I don’t understand why with such a large map we don’t have missions that actually require you to fly and use navigation (I know for some it’s such a dreaded thought). But I’ve always felt that is a huge component missing from DCS. (Then again maybe that would add to much realism and we can’t have that. Sarc:/) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

is air start possible after engine stop during flight? That is true but there is also a random bug failure. When your cruising along at max continuous everything is in the green, then suddenly “clunk” the engine seizure. Doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s very aggravating. Of coarse any time you run MP higher then the RPM you can expect it to blow. Any time you push the throttle forward to aggressively you also stand a chance of blowing it, and if you push up MP before RPM you can blow it. If you run out of fuel, a restart is not required. If the prop is spinning then the mags are working. Meaning there firing with every rotation of the prop. Switch the fuel tank and get fuel to the engine and it fires right back up. No need to restart! The current 51 has some interesting issues, if the prop stops, the engine is dead regardless of why. I have encountered a bug recently where my engine losses power with no reason what so ever. Everything’s normal, just stops producing. There’s also a bug that will cause the prop to seize randomly on occasion for zero reasoning. To answer your question, yes there are instances where engine failure is not catastrophic, I have found those to usually be damage related from combat. In that case hold the starter switch in the up position and it will give you enough power to reach an airbase. If you can successfully break away from an engagement. Asking Eekz to do something is fine, but your post reads as if it’s his fault that there’s a low number of players on his server. I don’t believe that is fair to Eekz or the current situation that he’s operating under. He’s done a great job with the changeover. He’s listened to feed back and has been making a better and more engaging mission. The issue is DCS!!! Not Eekz. Until DCS fixes all the issues with disappearing ground units or ground units that don’t render. A mass server crash every time a Spitfire takes damage(hence why the Spitfire is not longer in any MP server), a horrible damage modal and the list goes on... DCS is so bug infested that lots of players are either waiting on the sidelines or have completely abandoned DCS all together. I don’t agree with every decision Eekz makes but I do understand that he’s limited to what he’s working with. In this case it’s a DCS issue! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

But I don’t think the original question about “AI behavior” was intended for what happens after you shoot it, I think he was referring to the AI behavior in general as in how it chooses to fight and evade. I don’t follow!!! how will AI behavior be improved with a new DM? Granted a new DM will definitely help all around. However, the current AI behavior reminds me of sex, just a bunch of up and down, up and down. AI makes max climb that the player can’t then comes back down. Then this replays over and over. Bf 109G and Fw 190A's You said the “the Spit apparently being cancelled”. Where did this information come from? I don’t believe it to be accurate or true. The Spit currently has a bug that is believed to cause mass disconnects in the multiplayer environment when it takes damage. As a result all the MP servers have removed the Spit as an option to play until the bug is fixed. However, I’ve never heard of it being cancelled. Do you have a link for this?
