I seem to have missed this news about the VPC throttle, that's very unfortunate. I would think that would be a deal breaker for allot of people, VPC you need someone to show you how it's done? :megalol: (jokes) If anyone wants to post to reddit then please feel free, I'm not really a reddit kind of person - someone posted to r/hotas a while ago and I sold a few on there. At the moment getting sales is not really the issue, it more actually fulfilling all the orders :) They are all designed and assembled by hand by me in the UK, PCBs made in the USA and all the plastic parts 3D printed by Shapeways in the Netherlands. I'm trying to control the sources of everything as much as I can, so I know I’m getting only high quality genuine parts. I did try to make it more like that, but in order to not hit the coolie hat I needed to make it smaller in diameter than the original. I found I preferred no ridges on the hat since they were too small to be useful anyway. I’m thinking of opening a Shapeways store so you can buy spare/upgrade parts in the future, so I could have different hats as an option on there?

Thanks you everyone!!! All 40 pre-order units old in 14 hours, that's quite impressive  If your order number is 1076 or lower, you are on the end of June batch. These should start shipping arround June 30th and into early July. I have put up 20 more units with an estimated dispatch of end of July if anyone is still interested. If anyone has any questions about shipping or anything else please feel free to contact me, I will do my best to help :D

Real RAF Merlin collective project
Deltaalphalima1 replied to james111333's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice!! I saw one of them doing the rounds on eBay a couple of times. I have to say I was very tempted, nice to see it's gone to a worthy home  I might be a bit late to the party but for my collective build I used one of these: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/potentiometers/7435668/ Also connected up to a Lebodnar board, gives about 50% voltage swing with my setup, I have never felt like there are any issues with precision. I'm using a hydraulic motorcycle steering damper and a counterweight for damping, gives an really nice fluid feel and it’s also adjustable to change the force needed. Good luck with your project!! Having a proper collective is night and day difference for helicopters, you will love it once it’s done. :) -
I sent the last 3 pre-orders today, if you don't recieve a shipping conformation email very soon please send me a PM and I will look into it :)
-
So great to hear, Thank you!! Pre-orders should re-open very soon, keep an eye out everyone!! https://deltasimelectronics.com/products/thumbstick-slew-sensor-adapter

Do you mean the force sensor version? I can't get any more of the sensors that it uses at the price I have been. So unless I can find more at a low price or find an alternative, then I'm not planning to do more of them.
-
Since a number of people have asked I will try and give a good explanation of my plan :) If there are no major issues with the first batch and people are happy with them, then I will be opening the orders back up permanently, on a sort of rolling pre-order basis. I have mostly sorted all my supply issue out now, so I am confident I can make as many as are needed assuming enough time. I have ordered another batch of 40 PCBs today, which will take around 2-3 weeks to arrive. Once they do I should be able to ship the complete units out fairly quickly, which gives early July as a good estimate of when the next units will start shipping. I also have the last 3 Force sensor kits available to buy on my website. This will be the final batch of them because of sensor availability and time constraints, I want to move my focus as much as possible onto the Thumbstick kits.
-
Yes I've had to split them up just to make packing and shipping everything easier. All the pre-orders should be shipped by the end of this week :)
-
I don't think it could be fitted in the mic switch position. It was designed to fit the exact dimensions of the slew position so doubt it would fit anywhere else, although I have never tested it. When I get some time I might experiment to make sure - possibly a slight redesign of the frame part could make it fit so I could have that as a future option. As for the Thumbstick name there is no specific reason, other than that being the normal use of the sensor parts. I'm still not really sure what to call it myself; you might notice I change around a bit :)
-
Very glad it's working well for you Pman!! And thanks so much for the link on FB  Just a quick teaser pic on progress on my thumbstick kits. Most pre-orders should be shipping out this week.

Yes they will work with the TARGET software, so you can use that work-arround until it gets added properly.

Also been working on adding a extra switch button to my throttle this weekend (the need for the Hornet TDC pushed me over the edge) to connect to my Force Sensor Upgrade Adapter PCB. I'm using an APEM IPR3SAD6104 Momentary Push button switch. It's a very nice switch with good tactile feedback, but not too loud or clicky. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/push-button-switches/4994527/ The only issue it's quite big. It needs a 14mm hole to be drilled into the throttle, which makes it all quite a challenge as most drills won’t even hold a 14mm drill bit. I ended up carefully enlarging an 8mm hole with a sharp knife until it was the right size. The switch bezel covers all the rough edges nicely. Overall I'm very pleased with the result, but I would not recommend this particular switch unless you are very confident drilling and cutting a new large hole in your throttle. Go for something smaller.

Just an FYI for everyone to avoid any confusion, my upgrade kit won't solve the issues with the Hornet TDC until ED add a mappable axis. Fingers crossed it won't be too long of a wait :)
-
I think this mostly came up because the Hornet does have one and it's used for target selection I believe. The A-10 has a TMS for all that stuff so it's not needed. Depending of which aircraft you fly I guess it's more important for some people than others. I have found some nice switches which should fit well as a modification on the throttle, I will post something on that soon. I will soon. I just want to get some units out first as a bit of a test before commiting to anything. This way I can get some feedback and others can make a more informed choice.

ED, why you do this :no_sad: ....:megalol:

Not at the moment unfortunately. There are no commercially available all in one solutions that have a force sensor and push button that I have ever found, let alone at an "affordable" price point. As far as I know, the real A-10 doesn’t have an push button. The F-15 does but it uses a bizarre arrangement where the entire force sensor slides back into the throttle to press a switch, more info here http://www.f15sim.com/tech/throttle.html Even if I could make something like that fit in the throttle, it would massively increase complexity and therefore cost. I also don't really like the idea of having to push directly onto the sensor for a button. I can’t see how you operate it without moving the sensor in an undesired direction. I personally much prefer having a separate button somewhere else on the throttle, but that does require some modifications and soldering which I know allot of people are not so comfortable with. If anyone has any more information on how any of the real aircraft work that they can share, I would love to know.

Just wanted to give a quick progress update for this week; For anyone who has pre-ordered (payment sent) my Force Sensor upgrade kit, these are nearly ready and I will be shipping them out this week!! I have also finished the new install instructions for the Analog Thumbstick version, the process it very similar to the other version, but for anyone who is interested they are now available to download from my website. https://deltasimelectronics.com/pages/install-instructions Progress on my Analog Thumbstick version is still going well, the main thing slowing me down at the moment are the PCBs. They are due to ship from the manufacturer in the next few days, once they arrive with me it will be full steam ahead to get everyone’s orders processed. After that I will open back up for another batch! Thanks guys
-
Sorry, but if you haven’t purchased one from the website then you’re out of luck for this batch. Reserving by PM got out of hand very quickly unfortunately because of the number of people who want them, so I wasn’t able to do it that way in the end. There will be more after this, sometime in June hopefully. I'm looking into including some sort of mailing list on the website that will notify you when they are next available. I will post something here if/when that's available.

Thanks Deadman for the support, it means allot :) I really appreciate the second part you said, since it is a new product there will inevitably be a few issues to work out. If we can work together to solve them and improve for the future then that’s great for everyone. At the time I’m writing this I have 3 more pre-orders I can sell, I’m limiting the first batch to 30 units to try and keep it manageable, the last thing I want to do is disappoint anyone. I’m doing all of this in my free evenings and weekends so there is unfortunately a limit on what I can do. With that said I will do everything I can to get them out quickly. I'm still on track for most shipping in mid June, but if I need to delay slightly because I’m not 100% happy with the product and need to make changes then I will. Thanks Everyone!

Anyone who has not yet sent me payment direct on Paypal, even if you have messaged me, please place on order on the website. If you have sent me payment directly, then there is no need to do anything else. I will get everything shipped as soon as possible. Using the website just makes tracking all the orders so much easier for me, so nothing will get missed and I'm not having to give out my details to everyone :)
-
Thanks to everyone who has messaged me to reserve my new slew upgrade!! Due to the number of people who want one, I guess this is a good time to announce my new website: www.deltasimelectronics.com It's a bit rough arroud the edges as I've only been building it in the last two days, but it should get the job done. I will try and ship them out based on the order people have reserved them in as best I can. If it's not loading for you yet please try again tommorow, but it should be working in most of the world.

I am very pleased to announce my new thumbstick based Warthog throttle slew upgrade kit!! Using an ALPS RKJXV1224005 mini joystick https://www.alps.com/prod/info/E/HTML/MultiControl/Potentiometer/RKJXK/RKJXV1224005.html The same as used in the PS4 and Xbox 1 controllers. It is a complete, drop in and plug and play replacement kit for the original warthog throttle slew sensor, only a recalibration with the Thrustmaster utility is required. No drilling, soldering or extra USB cables. It will retain all functions of the original, including the push button switch. Initial price will be around £40 including free international shipping to anywhere in the world. (Subject to change depending on parts availability) They should be available to purchase by around June, if anyone is interested please message me to reserve one.
-
Not with the force sensor version directly unfortunatly, but I do supply a cable so you can install your own switch somewhere on the throttle in place of the slew push-button, but that does require some drilling and soldering. Thermal has installed one really nicely if you want an idea of how it might look, there is a photo of this just a few posts above. My next kit with the analog thumbstick will keep the push button functunallity on the slew though, more details to come this weekend :)

Thanks so much for the support!! It sounds like I might have something you would be interested in this weekend, watch this space :D

Fantastic! Glad to hear it's working out well for everyone!! :joystick:
