  1. Yes that is my point exactly. And that was the main reason why I was waiting for the released version. I didn't want a "semi-finished" product. Seems it is anyway...
  2. I apologize in advance if the question seems stupid, or arrogant but... Why is 2.5 out then??? I thought it was supposed to be a big improvement in graphics, performance of the engine, etc... I mean... having lighting, shading and color vibrance all over the place is kind of a big deal, no?
  3. I guess I should have put this in "Release version" section of the forum... I guess changing the time of day is indeed a decent workaround, but... I mean I'd rather not have that issue at all. I'm curious to see if I just increase some texture settings or something...?
  4. First time I try 2.5 (I was waiting for the official release). I don't have any major bug, but I didn't know where else to put that new issue. With 2.5 I have some problem with brightness and contrasts.... Depending of how sunny the mission I am flying in is, there are moments where I can barely see some of the information on my cockpit. And not because of a "natural sun glare" thing, but just because of some weird contrast and brightness issue. For instance, I was doing the Su25T training missions, and I was barely able to see the yellow information on my ADI, as the yellow arrows were essentially the same color as the white background. As I fly around, I did notice that when the sun is in front of me, instead of behind me, then it gets a little bit better, but it's still kinda difficult to read.... I have tried playing with the Gamma slider in "settings", I have also tried changing my monitor Brightness and Contrast setting, but nothing really helps. Is it on purpose? I mean, it doesn't even feel like some natural sun glare. It just really looks like bad contrast... Anybody having that kind of "problem"?
  5. While I can understand the comment about lightning condition for TV locks, I don't know if that really is the issue here, since even in the training mission, you can't get a lock at the moment (lock indicator going from KC to AC) So I'm thinking, why would they set the Kh29T training mission in a lightning condition that doesn't allow the use of Kh29T....???? To me it's seems more like a bug... And if it really is lightning, well I'm not proud of whoever programmed the training mission for the Kh29T...
  6. I might be resurrecting an old thread, but I was wondering if it has now been fixed? I am getting back on DCS after many months off and I thought I just would re-do the SU25T tutorials to put me back in shape. I have the same issue described here. I can lock/stabilize the TV, but my lock won't go from KC to AC, hence not being able to launch the missile (unless I override LA) And, if it really is about lightening condition (it is true that the training mission is a bit cloudy, but still it's day-time)... Why would they write the training mission in lightning condition where you can't use the damn missile you are training for!? That point doesn't make much sense... I don't remember having that problem when I did the training back in 1.5. But then, I read posts about this issue that are 3 or 4 years old, so maybe I was lucky back then..
  7. Ok thanks. So I guess the Mig-21 Tutorial is probably what you refer to as "old missions". I'll try to do what you suggest. For the tutorial it's not that big of a deal, but I'd still be curious to test if your suggestion works.
  8. I'm bringing this old post back up, but has anybody heard that they will do anything about it? I have just started using the Mig21 and in the tutorial I experience the exact same problem. And we're more than 2 years after the original post..... :( That is kinda depressing to see they don't care to fix it :( So the workaround is just reload the weapons using the ground crew before taking off?
  9. Ok, I think I got confused between R-13 and R-3R... So not a bug then, just me being wrong. But then, another question if you don't mind, why did I need some kind of tone, and align my target to my reticle, to be able to shoot? I mean, looking at youtube videos, I was expecting the lines on my radar to "separate" from the bird, until I get the "in range" sort of signal. But I wasn't getting that. My radar was pretty fixed, nothing was moving (the target was locked of course).
  10. Hi, I'm new to the Mig21bis. I was mostly flying the F-5 and the Mirage up to now. So I'm doing the tutorials one by one. In order to do them, I turn the tags on, for the sake of just concentrating on learning the airplane. So I was doing the AA Missile tutorial and was having issues. The first part is about radar missiles. So I followed everything right, but... I wasn't able to release the missiles. Therefore, I got closer to my targets, thinking I was just too far. But then, it wasn't making sense that I couldn't shoot a radar guided missile at 5 nm. I turned the plane to have it perfectly aligned with my target. Then... I heard a tone, like for an IR missile. Was a bit surprised, but I shot my missile nonetheless. The missile that got shot was an R-3R (as seen on its tag). This is an IR missile right??? So, first bug would be that the plane doesn't have any radar missile, though I'm supposed to do the tutorial for it. Second, why did it shoot them missile eventhough I had the selector switch set to "Radar missile" and not "IR Missile", as required in the tutorial...? Moreover, I had the correct pylon selected also. Finally, looking at the plane from the outside using F2, it really seemed like the outer pylons had radar missiles, from their looks.... I'm really confused. Oh and as additional info. I decided to just shoot all my missiles and they were all IR missiles, again, from their tags after they launched.
  11. Apologies if my choice of words was poor. I was indeed refering to "trimmability" when using the word "stable", and I wasn't refering to "stable" in the sense of flight mechanics/dynamics. Thanks for pointing it out.
  12. That would really be great if you could do that. I've not been in DCS for as long as other people here, and since my beginnings I've read complaints and debates on how "unstable" the F-5 is (especially in pitch). So, to have the inputs of somebody with real experience would be awesome. Thumbs up if you can achieve it!
  13. Reading through the F-5 forum you'd see that it's a known topic that you can't easily have a level flight with the F-5 in DCS. Is it well modeled or not, I don't know... just that in DCS you can't just trim and forget about it. I can say that you should first have it in level flight and only THEN attempt to trim to relieve pressure on the stick. You will still have to make constant adjustments all the freakin time, but they'll be small adjustments. If you just go and try to use the trim to send the plane where you want, you'll never be close to have a level flight. It'll be a nightmare and the required adjustments will be much bigger and you,ll experience more "swings". But ya, all in all, you can't just have a straight leveled flight with the F-5 (if you compare with other modern planes in DCS such as the Mirage for example).
  14. Sorry I couldn't comment on my own post earlier than that, but what was mentioned is quite interesting. First of all, my post is really just related to sensitivity of the hat switches movement. Trim switch, radar slew, etc. I wasn't talking about axis controls, since I am well aware you can adjust it with curves and such. As for adjusting slew sensitivity, I am just aware that it is possible with the A10. And it isn't in the DCS settings or anything, it's something you can do within the A10 cockpit and though I don't quite remember how, I remember doing it at some point. So yes, the hat switch sensitivity is not a problem with the A10. I would think that the F5 is difficult to trim possibly because of how sensitive the hat switches are in DCS. Even in the Mirage, I have a hard time locking onto a target on the radar because I can't slew onto it easily. But, it seems I am not alone with the issue, so the good thing is that it confirms what I thought, it's not related to my joystick. Finally, to answer one's question about trimming : Yes, I first try to have a stable flight and only then do I trim to relieve pressure from the controls. As most pointed out, I still have to constantly adjust pitch, roll and thrust, but at least I don't need to apply constant pressure on the stick. I guess this is normal and how one should fly the F-5 right?
  15. Hi, Haven't been on the forum for a while and haven't been in DCS for a while either. So yesterday I got back into DCS. Decided to use the F-5 as it is a relatively simple aircraft, and though it isn't a new issue for me, it's the first time I decided to post about it. I've looked around the forum for an answer, but I haven't found anything exactly talking about this. So: I have the issue that, and the issue is at its worst on the F-5, that my controls inputs are overly sensitive. I'm not talking about the axis controls, but about the hat switches mainly. I use a Thrustmaster T16000 (HOTAS and Rudder pedals) and when I want to trim the aircraft, or move the radar cursor, or similar kind of operations, I'm having a hard time. Even if I just try to push one of my hat switch just a tiny bit, I get big movements. So for example, when I try to lock onto a radar signal, I just can't get my cursor onto it easily. I just keep going over and not being able to stop the cursor onto it. Or, for example, if my plane is almost rightly trimmed but just require a tiny bit more, I just end up overshooting it, and the plane is now more "untrimmed" than it was. I own other modules, for instance the Mirage and the A10, and the issue is much less present. Which makes me think it's not the joystick but the F-5 module itself. I have also tried another joystick and I had the same issue (though I must say it was another cheaper Thrustmaster joystick). Any way I can adjust that input sensitivity? Some work around maybe? Anybody else having this issue? Thanks a lot.
  16. Well nvm, it's just me not understanding the radios on the A10-C.... I thought that the knob selector for "FM, AM, Manual, etc" was to be used to choose which radio is for FM which is for AM. Turns out it's fixed... the lowest one is FM and the top one is AM and you must leave the selector at Manual. I don't quite understand what that knob is for then, I'll check the manual. But, that solved my problem.
  17. I have a similar problem. I can't hear Overlord. He seems to be talking, cause my guy answers (such as "Copy Overlord, bla bla..."). But I don't hear him. The radio on my top left is set to the Uzi frequency (144 AM) The UHF is left at 251 The last radio of my lower left is set to 33 FM (I set the numbers to 3 - 3 - 0 - 00, so that's 33 right?). Both VHF radios are at TR and the UHF is at Main (or Both, I don,t recall). I thought I was doing it right, isn't it?
  18. Weird, he's just not answering to "some orders". Just asked to attack something and just nothing... but asked for a different formation and he replied "copy". I'll keep investigating
  19. Hi, Looked through this forum and didn't find the answer. I'm having problems comunicating with my wingman. Looking at the briefing I have 3 radio freq to set, however it doesn't seem to be my flight frequencies. That's giving me a hard time when I want to send my wingman to attack targets, etc. It doesn't seem to work on the UHF 251 frequencies. At least he never answers. And yes, I'm using the right ALT+Numpad- or whichever it is for the UHF... Noob question I know, but I couldn't find the answer... :(
  20. Well I don't know, I think I know what you mean, but I hope you don't mind if I disagree. Even though I was expecting that kind of setup, where you practice air to air combat, it would have been very possible to make it different mission to mission. Yes, it would have always been air to air practice, of course... but I don't know... As for the way the encounters go, as I said, it might be my lack of practice and the fact that I am not well educated in the different air to air maneuvers that are "in the book". And as a matter of fact, they could have included that kind of practice, training in the campaign. You know... teaching you how to behave in different types of situations. For now the AI can't shoot me, but I can't shoot him either. We're just constantly going head-on, then turning 180 degrees, then head-on again, etc. I've tried mixing things up by going up or down, trying to have the AI "lose me", but I'm starting to wonder if the AI can lose sight of us... it's the AI after all, I feel it always knows where I am. But, all in all, the campaign is indeed good practice, so that's that.
  21. I really like the F-5E plane. It is quite simple and fun to fly. The module itself is disapointing, as it is the same price as the other modules, but with no stock campaign. And as for the DLC campaigns, same kind of disapointment. They sell it to you as a "campaign" but it's really just multiple times the same mission, but with different opponents. So for me, a lot easier for whoever created the campaign. Not a lot of effort into it, versus other DLC campaigns you can find, like those created by Baltic Dragon... So for me, it's difficult to answer your question. I think the F-5 is great, even if the module feels like it should have a stock campaign for the price. So I'd buy the module anyway if I were you. The campaigns, well... On sale I'd get them, but definitely not at full price.
  22. I've purchased them and so far... well... I don't know if I really like them. Maybe just too advanced for my skills... First off, Navigation is a bit complicated in the F-5E in general (versus more modern planes). And, since it's confusing, I prefer missions with few waypoints. This campaign is the opposite. You have a lot of steerpoints and you need to be ultra sharp to not be all over the place. I manage, using the page of the briefing that lists the flight plan waypoint TACAN + Radials + Distances (I don't really like marking your position on the kneeboard), but it requires some effort... But this is not my biggest issue with the campaign. I've not finished one yet, so there might be a big surprise coming, but so far it REALLY seems like they created one mission and you just re-do it multiple times. And the mission in itself isn't super interesting: You fly to INDIA, go face to face with another plane. And if you don't shoot it during that head-on encounter, it's basically 5 minutes of trying to catch each other, with no one succeeding within the allowed time. I'll keep flying the missions and see, but so far, I'm tempted to say I regret buying the campaigns :(
  23. I am glad that I am mistaken. I'll probably get them then :)
  24. Hi, I' ve been talking about the fact that I find disapointing that the F-5 doesn't come stock with a campaign. So I'm starting to consider buying the ones available on the e-Shop, but I wonder if they are worth it. I mean, I read that they are pretty basic... like you spawn in the air in front of another airplane and you just dog fight...Is that so? Is there any sort of "role playing", or you know, radio chat and stuff that makes you at least feel a little bit immerse into a real mission? Thanks in advance for the info.
  25. Hi, So I purchased the Enemy Within campaign since I really liked the M2000C stock campaign you did. Problem is, I can't activate it. In my profile on the website it shows the transaction as being "Completed", but in DCS it isn't in my available DLCs. It is still in the list of DLC I can buy. But when I click on it, it opens my browser saying I already own it... :S!!! I have the latest 1.5 version (1.5.7.something) and run it in the standalone app (not via Steam). One good thing to note is that there was a glitch with PayPal when I was paying. It crashed or something. I doubt this is the issue though, since in the end I did get the payment confirmation email, both from PayPal and ED. So they clearly received my payment (and as I said, my online profile also confirms that info). I'm on standby from their customer support, but was hoping perhaps somebody from the community had similar issues? With another campaign maybe? All my other modules were available right away, so I don't know what is going on.... :(
