  1. They have the most documentation for the K and so they chose that model...I would prefer the F4 but I'm OK with the K
  2. Great thanks!...the hedgerows played a major role during the invasion, will you have them on the map?
  3. llya, add a new lower stretch goal so to increase the map to s.eng :music_whistling:
  4. Bassingourn interesting, north of London distance for alt thanks
  5. I just did a quick google, only read the first hit " Any breakout from the lodgement area would require the insightful and creative use of air power, including bomber aircraft such as the American B-17 and B-24 and the British Halifax and Lancaster operating in a troop-support role. Altogether there were six major raids by heavy bombers in support of breakout operations in Normandy. The first of these involved 457 Halifax and Lancaster bombers from RAF Bomber Command on July 7, in support of Montgomery's assault on Caen. The second was an even larger raid by 1,676 heavybombers and 343 light and mediumbombers onJuly 18. On the 25th, American bombers of the Eighth and Ninth Air Forces struck at Saint-Lo, preparatory to the First Army's breakout. A fourth attack on the 30th supported the Second British Army south of Caumont. Then an Anglo-American raid on August 7-8 supported the attack of the First Canadian Army toward Falaise from Caen, and the sixth raid, again supporting the attack on Falaise, followed on August 14. Overall, the Allied high command considered these raids successful, and German soldiers caught in them testified to their devastating (if short-lived) impact upon morale. Field Marshal Hans von Kluge, Rommel's successor, complained that bomb-carpets buried equipment, bogged down armored units, and shattered the morale of troops. Unfortunately, the terrain disruption worked both ways: it hindered the attacker as much as the defender, and, in fact, bought the Germans time to regain some composure and dig in for the follow-on attack. If such air attacks were to be useful, they had to be followed immediately by a follow-on ground assault. When this occurred, Allied ground troops found German defenders dazed and prone to surrender.
  6. "Luftwaffe fighter pilots likened attacking a B-17 combat box formation to encountering a fliegendes Stachelschwein, "flying porcupine". However, the use of this rigid formation meant that individual aircraft could not engage in evasive maneuvers: they had to fly constantly in a straight line, which made them vulnerable to the German ground units. Moreover, German fighter aircraft later used the tactic of high-speed strafing passes rather than engaging with individual aircraft to inflict damage with minimum risk".
  7. Yea they still could be built someday, sooner, especially if the game is a big huge success.
  8. No that's incorrect...if the 100,000. is met and your money is taken, then you will receive the agreed to rewards as described. Failure to reach any of the stretch goals will have no affect on the rewards.
  9. Very good!...it needs to be distributed on each and every flight sim forum, game hub sites, FSX
  10. I agree with Ron, ..would be a good choice
  11. You may be the best man to advise llya then, on the hopefully ability to have this in game. In Clod the bombers when attacked will break and scatter, but then again they are not B-17's and not ordered to stay in a box.
  12. A very handy chart, thanks!
  13. Believe me, I have plenty of problems with them in CLOd. For me the more that I engage them the better I do. If I am away from the game for a few day's, I'm like a rookie all over again (well close to like a rookie). :pilotfly:
  14. @T}{OR The combat box is a interesting subject I've never flown in one, just posted the pic for viewer understanding sake in the thread. There were many different configuration's I've learned from just reading up a little on it. The axis response in their changed tactics for these boxes', is also very interesting...boy, it just makes me what this aircraft even more in the new game.
  15. Seems like some people have trouble with the AI, while others don't :helpsmilie:
  16. Another thing is that they were ordered to hold their position in the box, no evasive maneuvering if under attack. Since that order was given, they had 25% less aircraft loses.
  17. Yea someone wasn't paying attention in the combat box in which they flew at differing altitudes for protection
  18. I just posted this in the kickstarter comments page...I think that its a good idea and gives us all a chance, including Luthier " Maybe we can convince llya by reaching a new stretch goal yet to be added here. That would give us the southern England map extension aprox 09-14, and delivery of the B-17 one year latter 09-15 but the aircraft would be an additional charge at that time of delivery...say 80.00 or what ever they think its worth"
  19. Yep the kick starter monies are for beta polishing, the stretch goals are for additional content...so step up to the plate and join us :)
  20. Yea true, but he may be stretched pretty far right now
  21. I would put it both in the sticky thread and in his latest thread. :)
  22. Those pictures are insane..thanks
  23. Wow the first video is just awesome and seems a great teacher!!...thanks for posting:D
