Crash when create/modify profiles
Solid84 replied to Solid84's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
i've tried in start menu option. i have to try in-game to see if it happens. -
Every time i try to create or modify an existing profile, after doing all, when i press "OK" button the screen turn black and DCS not respond anymore. It's impossible for me to configure controls.
-
no, i've tried to create a profile manually.
-
So sad... Keep to fly high and fast, Gospadin! R.I.P.
-
I have exactly the same problem. yesterday i tried to configure my hotas warthog with Harrier. After 30min i clicked "OK" and boom...black screen. I've tried two times, same result. After that i had simply shutdown my PC.
-
yes, even at night, with only city's illumination (very low in intensity) i have huge fps drop.
-
I'm usually fly over Vegas, to test different graphic setup, and using them as my personal benchmark on DCS, because it is the most demanding place for GPU (i think). I've a gtx 1080 and a 1440p@60hz monitor, and with my graphic setup, i've a solid 60fps even over Vegas, with Visibility Ultra, plenty of shadows and MSAA 2X, but only during daytime. When i try to fly at very dusk or even night, my fps drop dramatically to 30/40fps. And i don't understand why. Is dusk/night more demanding than daylight for GPUs?
-
thank you to you, ED, for your work! ;-)

I have experienced several random crashes using 2.5 The last one was over Vegas, on dusk with F5E. But is not linked with particular situation or module, it happens randomly. I'm using a GTX 1080 with 388.71 drivers. I've attached my log. dcs.log-20180218-113539.zip

i confirm, same here

2.5 runs smooth until i start bombing stuff
Solid84 replied to METEOP's topic in Game Performance Bugs
i have noticed this issue too. I think is related with explosions or smoke. With A10C using Mavs, rockets or bombing in general, cause me stutters and fps drop, especially when i perform a low pass on target after attack. After i've disabled in-game MSAA at all, using only FXAA through Nvidia CP, and the situation seems better, but not perfect. -
In my opinion is possible that the increased 1440p resolution over 1080p helps to reduce blurry text (i haven't blurriness at all). Anyone using FXAA on 1080p can helps you to answer your question.
-
In the previous 2.2 i used Deferred Shading off, and i was able to use MSAA 2X with perfect performance. But the new Caucasus looks terrible with DS off. So FXAA is the only way for me, at this moment.

I use FXAA through Nvidia CP, with in-game Deferred shading ON and MSAA off. This is the only way to have a rock solid 60fps with my 1440p@60hz monitor and with my GTX 1070. With FXAA i have solid 60 fps even at Batumi area or Las Vegas. FXAA performs quite well, especially for cockpit and airplane. I haven't experienced evident blurries at all. Regards the terrain, it's a bit jagged, expecially distant buildings, river coastlines, electrical lines, roads and runways. But i can live with. MSAA 2X remains unbeatable at this, but costs too much performance. At the moment i'm happy with FXAA, much better than no AA at all.
-
Using FXAA only for me is a good result, not comparing with MSAA 2X, but very good overall. Anyway you made a great work, useful for all community. Well done! And thank you so much.
-
Ok, i tried several AA method. My conclusion is that, for me, at 1440p resolution, is better to use only FXAA through NCP. Because SMAA using reshade change almost nothing, at least at 1440p, a bit inside cockpit, but terrain remain exactly the same. But cost me 6/8 fps over FXAA only
-
ok, thanks. i've just installed reshade using only SMAA.FX. At this moment i use also FXAA throung nvidia control panel, but there's a FXAA module also in Reshade. It's better to use FXAA through NCP or Reshade? or doesn't care?

I posted this question in another thread, but i post also here: I have a question: currently i use a 1440p@60hz monitor, and with msaa 2x and deferred shading ON sometimes i experience stutter and fps drop with a gtx1070. I tried to disable in-game MSAA at all using, instead, FXAA from nvidia control panel. With FXAA ON i gain a lot of FPS, and aliasing is better than no AA, but could be better, 'cause i still have an amount of aliasing, especially on medium/far terrain and buildings. If i understood correctly there's no way to use MFAA or force MSAA via NCP with AA in-game set to off, but minimum 2X for MFAA to work. I'd want to try FXAA in conjunction with SMAA via reshade. can it works? Disable in-game MSAA and using FXAA from NCP and SMAA via Reshade? I don't know onestly...
-
We also have to have a chat about MSAA and deferred shading

Every time i use weapons using A10C in new Caucasus map, with mission created through mission editor, or even with free flight missions, i've experienced numerous crashes. Seems a problem with explosion or smoke, because it happens when i perform a low pass on target after the explosion. I attach Log and dump_crash file. dcs_log.rar dcs.20180203-210330.rar

thank you so much for your explanation! :-)

so, do you think the 15hz difference in refresh rate is a must go solution in this case? is the difference really noticeable between 60 and 75hz?
