After all, it is my eyes it seems. Oh well, I'll go see a doctor and hear what he has to say :)
-
Just tried with every setting absolutely maxxed out. The image is sharp as hell on the edges and blurry in the middle. If I look at an instrument on the edge of the lens, it is perfectly sharp. Strange, I hope it is not an hardware issue.
-
Not sure, tried pretty much every preset (high and vr) Pixel density I tried is between 2 and 2.5
-
HDD for instance : completely unusable in VR, even if I lean over to be closer. It gets completely blurry and unreadable. Su-27 if that matters. Did not try another aircraft.

Cannot find an answer somehow, so making a new thread. I have an oculus rift CV1 and a very good computer. Very good sight on both eyes. The instruments in the cockpit are OK from a distance, but get very very blurry when I go closer to them, like if my eyes were focused in the distance and you tried to look at something close to me. Looks kind of like an "autofocus" issue. Not sure if this is normal ? The instruments are completely unreadable from close distance, only when I am in a "normal position". Very strange. Any information is very welcome :) Thanks :)

Su-33 can carry 2 more missiles, weighs more, can land on a carrier, can do air refueling, is a little slower, does not turn as well as the 27, and has canards. I'm sure there are a lot more differences, but I think those are the main ones.

Feedback will be greatly appreciated when you have time to play around with this :)

Kind of a thread jack, but looking for an answer. What is the ideal IAS for best maneuvrability / close air combat in the Su-27 ? Depending on aircraft weight, I believe it is in the 600 - 700 kph ?
-
Exactly, the issue sounds more hardware related than software. Engines start up perfectly with the original training missions and my hardware setup.
-
From what you describe, your issue is more than the training missions. On my end, it works well (throttle / trim...). Missions load up well too. You could try to repair your DCS World installation, I believe there is a tool for that in there.
-
You could try the corrected training missions that MadDog-IC made : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/fr/files/2877434/?sphrase_id=8425962 And report back.
-
I read somewhere that you could remove the control.lua file so DCS generates a new one. That might solve your issue. As for trim, did you configure it in the aircraft specific controls ? Because I believe this setting is aircraft dependent and not general. Maybe the same goes for the throttle ?

Thank you for your feedback. Tried to send you a PM to thank you for all the great Lock On tutorial videos that you can find on youtube where your name is. They are really helpful and very well made. I looked up the auto pilot's modes in the manual, must have been missing from the french version I guess as I cannot recall reading about it. Here is the excerpt : I will try to test those with that information and report back.

I did not have any issue with throttle. Is yours working as it should in other missions ? The only problem I encountered is the nose wheel steering. It is not specified in the start up mission as it was added lately. If you cannot steer when leaving the parking position, then you need to activate it.
-
Can someone educate me on auto pilot modes ? Or maybe there is a bug and they do not work properly ? Here is what I tested : - Route follow : works, but altitude seems strange ? Also, the plane can climb or dive pretty dramatically in order to reach programmed altitude, isn't there a limit ? - Altitude hold (barometric) : holds altitude & roll (why does it hold roll ?) - Attitude hold : holds plane's attitude perfectly, this one does work well - Flight level hold : goes to 0° roll and holds altitude, works perfectly I did not test the radar altitude hold. Tested with latest stable version, everything up to date. Thank you :)

Fantastique ! Merci pour le partage. Je vais regarder ça avec grand plaisir.

Thank you for your answer. I think this would be a good indicator to have, because without that you may have to wait that someone locks you on their radar before knowing what mode you are in :(
-
Quick question about the RWR. You can switch between two RWR modes, "normal" and "lock only", with RShift + R. Where can I see what mode I am in ? What if I activate the lock only mode and I do not get the normal alerts, which I would want to see, and only notice it when someone locks on me ? I looked around the cockpit and there is no indicator of the current mode it seems. If anyone can point me in a direction it would be great :) I hope I phrased my question correctly.

Yes, I found the HUD repeater. I believe the "Tactical display" is simply the navigation route display on the HDD, as referenced to in training mission #2. Here is what I am talking about : It is @ ~6:30 of this video which is training mission #2 (navigation) for the Su-27 : I think the wording was a little different in the training mission on my computer, which confused me. Thank you for your input :) Getting to know the Su-27 a little more everyday before moving on to fully clickable cockpits next.
-
20 000m ! Are you trying to lock on satellites ? Maximum operation altitude is 18 000m for the Su-27, if google is correct :)
-
Yes, I went through all the training missions and there is some not up-to-date stuff :) Still helpful but requires to look up some stuff on the internet. Quick question : what is the HDD tactical display ? (in nav mode). The tutorial states to press RCtrl + R if I remember correctly to switch to tactical display, but it does nothing. I searched for that term in the commands, but nothing comes up. All I can do is switch between nav modes by pressing 1. That would be the only thing I could not solve. At least the Su-27 has interactive training missions, unlike other aircrafts from the FC3 package. PS : The Su-27 is quite the workout to fly, needs constant trimming at the slightest speed change, and always wants to change direction. I guess this mimics the real plane's instable design well.

It seems there is a bug in the training mission #1 for the SU-27. You cannot turn on the taxiway if you do not activate nose wheel steering. This is not said in the instructions. Activating nose wheel steering : LALT + q Happy flying :)
