  1. Having tested the latest patch with the same mission spawn as my previous post I'm now back to Vsnc'ing at 60 FPS in 2D. I'll test some more but that was 40FPS before the patch. Edit: Seems much better when trying with the 4YA Nevada MP mission offline, but when I turn on the SA page in the F/A-18 the FPS drops to 20. Turn the SA page off and back to 60FPS. Edit 2: SA page works ok on left and right MFD, just the centre one now causes massive FPS drops. Strange thing is the same is now true when running 2.5.5 when I know it was fine before the last patch for 2.5.6. Can the update have modified a config setting or something common to both installs which are running on separate drives?
  2. I thought it said pathfinding had been improved to lighten the CPU load and that seems to have been the culprit suspected/identified by many on here.. Oh well I hope they tone down the saturation at some point too (Or provide adjustment control)
  3. Just tried today's patch and no performance improvement for me. still 20FPS where I see 40 in release. EDIT: Appologies.. having tested some more it actually seems on par with the realease version in VR and 2D. I will post a new screenshot in the other performance thread.
  4. So I dissabled track saving a while back to prevent annoying stutter/ pause every 5 seconds or so, but wondering if anyone has a fix so I can reinstate it one day.. Anyone advise where the track is being temporarily stored before we get to save it to a folder? Seems crazy that I can record video tracks in real time using Windows game mode, but not the built-in save, which I believe is only data. I'm baffeled as running on SSDs, got plenty of Ram and same is true whatever version of DCS I use.:(
  5. Please see attached misson used in my example. 4YA_Nevada_Capture_bases.zip
  6. I have tried the latest beta release again today (2.5.6.47224), but no performance improvement for me. I have attached comparison screenshots with 2.5.5 taken when spawning in a 4YA Nevada mission with the F/A-18C from a hanger as an example. You can see the framerate is less than half in 2.5.6, so not sure how this was un-noticed when the patch was released??:( Edit: Performance of 2.5.6 tested spawning under the same conditions except no AI at all. Much better!!
  7. This is easy to do without harm using the DSC updater... I use often use to switch and test between versions See full guide here. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 PS, anyone say what the porpose of 2.5.6 was? It just seems to have over saturated the shaders and and nerfed performance :( I don't see any benefit worth the hit?
  8. I retried 2.5.6 over the weekend and all looks great and performs great in single player with no-low AI planes.. As soon as more than 4 planes are added FPS drops below 60 for vsync. Multiplayer is a complete no go with FPS dropping to 30s/ 40s. I reverted back to 2.5.5, but fingers crossed this will be resolved going forwards.
  9. I created a simple text file called autoexec.cfg and placed it in the same saved games Config folder where the Options.lua is. I have not noticed any adverse effects yet.
  10. I think I mentioned in this thread I'm actually experiencing the stutter problem in 2.5.5 and back in 2.5.3 also installed to use the Hawk. Luckily I'm not too bothered about track record as that doesnt work reliably either! :(
  11. Not sure if this is the same issue I had, or if you've seen the thread. Maybe worth a look. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263567
  12. Disappointing FPS hit for me too with 2.5.6.. I've gone from smooth running/ Vsyncing at 60Hz down to 45 ish with the same settings from previous beta. GPU is only %60 used too. Rolled back until fixed
  13. @BitMaster Looks like I've got 87.7GB free out of 657GB. Its not showing as red in explorer, so not sure how that relates back or why it would effect writing of tracks?
  14. Thanks for the info @BitMaster Just to advise my C: drive where the game is saving to is a PNY SSD, whereas the game is installed on F: which is a Samsung SSD. The PNY drive is new and only installed in December just gone but I did check health of all drives during fault finding here with Disk Sentinel which said all is 100%. I think I checked driver status but will double check along with checking capacity. I have a suspicion it is quite full.
  15. Many thanks and just to confirm for me its the in game track record causing the stutter. With Tackview turned off, turning track record on causes the problem to return. I'm not sure what if anything has changed my end but it used to run perfectly smooth until I noticed this on Friday. Interestingly, the problem also exists now when I use 2.5.3.24984 (For the Hawk). I have attached a screen grab showing the file present when track record is active and high on the Write activity in Resource Monitor when 'System' is checked. (I'm sure this was saving into the Saved Games folder when I first saw it?). I hope this info helps.
  16. No worries  To my understanding so far, the disable track recording line "["tacviewDataRecordingEnabled"] = false, " in Options.lua just disables Tacview recording. To disable in-game recording, I found to create a simple text file called autoexec.cfg and save in the same config folder. There was just one line in it as "disable_write_track = true".
  17. Its under plugins in the options.lua file at C:\Users"yourname"\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config. I don't know whether it's the track recording or Tacview causing the problem for me so will investigate further.
  18. Update - After many hours studying the Resource monitor it seems the culprit is DSC's own track recording. I have now set Tackview to false in the Options file and added an autoexec.cfg with "disable_write_track = true" and so far so good!
  19. Same with Defender and tried with Mcafee. Also done scan but no change. Thank you though.
  20. Not installed on mine but thankyou
  21. I'm really struggling to find the casue of stutters distrupting motion every 5 - 10 seconds. I can see disk activity peaks, which although relativly small coinside with stutters in game and they are only present when running DCS. The game is installed on F: SSD and Windows is running on C: SSD I have tried reducing/ increasing view distance, preload radius, removing USB hub, stopping Defender, turning off ethernet, increasing pagefile, turning off pagefile, running Cortex boost, uninstalled G Force experience, yet none cured it yet. Any suggestions/ help please? :helpsmilie:
  22. As the title says.. I'm now seeing the sun shining through the instrument panel. see attached.
  23. The rudder will not work for me from pedals until I go into control options, click on the rudder mapping cell under 'Axis Commands' and hit the 'Default' button below. The axis then responds to the pedals normally. I have to do this each time I start DCS for some reason. All other planes work just fine.
  24. Similar problem for me just after last update. Seems to go into a semi locked mode whilst in flight, where some controls/ functions stop working, but can't exit either.
  25. You're right.. you wouldn't want to fly with it, but ok to see what it looks like as per the OP. especially as its free for 5 mins. To be fair I was amazed how smooth the head tracking is on the latest version with my S8, so S9 probably as good. USB tethering best too if you can get a lead in. Also allows an external source for positional head tracking which helps a lot.
