  1. You could try Vridge/ riftcat. It converts your phone into a virtual VR headset. See here..https://riftcat.com/vridge They provide an app so you can use the Gear VR too. Performance is not the best, but you will get a good idea. Hope this helps
  2. Awesome!
  3. Just updated to latest beta and now half of the icons on the bottom of the home screen are missing. My Module activation screen shows all purchased items are installed, but says I need to install them to use. All was fine before the update. :helpsmilie: EDIT - Solved Found I could use DCS_Updater.exe to manually reinstall modules. Previously deactivating and reactivating modules did nothing.
  4. Thanks for the tip-off! I'm now a proud owner of fpsVR:thumbup:
  5. It's displayed on the monitor which I can view whilst holding the VR HMD and centre head sensor. fpsVR sounds useful though.
  6. Thanks, toutenglisse you're absolutely right! Winding down super sampling to 100% and turning both motion smoothing and shadows down I got a steady 90FPS in Nevada with the odd drop lower when looking at the air base. Steadily winding up super sampling and/or MSAA etc, it's obvious to see the buildings (or something) around the airbase are the cause FPS drop below 60FPS, even with terrain shadows turned off. 30FPS is when the frametime goes above approx 20ms so it's synthesising 2 out of every 3 frames. Anything ED can do to optimise what's going looking at buildings will be most welcome.:) Interestingly, according to MSI afterburner, all four CPU cores seem evenly balanced:huh:
  7. Just testing various settings to get a better understanding of what's what to optimise VR resolution VS performance and I can't understand why I'm limiting to 45 FPs in this scenario when both the GPU and CPU aren't being pushed to maximum? I'm not sure whats the bottle neck here with reference to the screenshot below?
  8. I have thought this at times, but it should be simple to verify by timing travel from A to B over a known distance at a known speed?
  9. I never knew that, but I'll have a play!.. Thanks for the tip-off!:) Edit.. I can only find the mini hud. Does that allow look to lock a target?
  10. lol.. I don't know what MAC has in mind, but I've seen how other arcade games have implemented the ease mouse flight, aiming and shooting .. Eve Valkerie you just had to look at a target to lock on; full sim players could be at a bit of a disadvantage competing.
  11. I agree.. I fly with the Vive, Warthog stick, separate throttle and rudder pedals which are mounted (and adjustable) so as near to the same physical position as they are in the planes I'm flying at the time. I map as much as possible to buttons on the sticks as possible so less hands off as possible and then just minimal mouse for the rest. Once in VR your it's very convincing
  12. Ok thanks.. so that would mean mouse pushers with much simplified controls competing with full sim DCS planes? Normally on-line games enforce the same abilities equally on all players.
  13. Why is stuff released that's so unfinished? If the images above is how it's meant to be then this is what should be released and only when it is accurate and ready.
  14. I fly VR and monitor and out of the sims I have offering night lighting DCS 2.5 is least enjoyable as almost impossible to see. I don't know how to get scientific about measuring the difference, but for me I do not fly at night in DCS anymore because there is nothing to see. XP11 is the best example I have and simply mesmerising with all the moving traffic too. Aerofly is also amazingly realistic, just no moving traffic. I can post screenshots if it helps, but usual response is "yes but they're not a complicated battle sim like DCS". Well night lighting worked as means of illuminating the world at night in DCS 1.5
  15. Whilst being a big fan of the concept of DCS, what is the chance of the following fundamental issues getting fixed this year please?:helpsmilie: 1) Performance drastically optimised and especially the negative impact of flying near built-up areas eliminated/ minimised. 2) Replay system to replay what actually happened. 3) Night lighting to be effective as pre-deferred shading and especially runway lights. 4) Re-rendering process/ delay returning to cockpit F1 view after F10 map view removed. 5) VR performance and image clarity to return to pre-deferred shading standard. 6) Rain effects seen from all cockpits and from flying through clouds. Thank you.
  16. Probably just the heavy green tinted screen seemed reduced and that's it.
  17. Multilayer compatible as in players of both game platforms playing in the same online game?
  18. Well as a paying customer for modules that are unfinished working on a platform that is full of bugs I am allowed to question if there are resolutions in sight for existing products or attention has wondered elsewhere?
  19. But not a joystick? I'm totally confused by this move then when a simplified "arcade mode" button would turn DCS into a dumbed down version. Hopefully it's been written by additional resource as there's so much unfinished in DCS.
  20. I would have thought it would be a good opportunity, or even requirement to be much less demanding if its target is an entry level game. I'm guessing a lot of existing and potential new players were left behind/ or put off by the increased system requirements the introduction of deferred shading. I would have thought the original 1.5 would have been a more likely, less demanding engine to build an entry game on.
  21. That's a good point  I'm hoping it will be less demanding.. something I can run on my gaming laptop whilst traveling etc; a bit like War Thunder, which will run well on virtually anything.
  22. I kept reading on here during the introduction of deferred shading that DCS was only playable on a top level machine because it was for serious flight simmers who could afford one. MAC appears to be using the same graphics engine as DCS, so Just wondering what the system requirements will be for MAC if intended to be for entry level flight simmers/ gamers who cannot afford a joystick?
  23. Thanks and no worries Bart...The previous 'surreal' look in VR was the motivator for doing the mod..
  24. I've attached 3 pictures below; the first is of a real MkV cockpit I took in December (with a flash unfortunately), the second is the DCS original and third is my personal version. Take a look at the shadows in the foot well, floor and legibility of the gauges..hopefully you will see the differences:)
  25. That's strange!.. Can you share your after images? .. Only internal of the cockpit has changed and especially looking down.
