Well, I have ordered this game from Qpig.ru (place where some people got their BS dvd's before the download version came live) Still waiting for confirmation of payment - It took a little while for those who bought BS too, but the deliveries were made in the end! Don't know what the game will be like, but the price was good. Cheers!
-
So exactly what is lankygiant16 actually trying to download..? Cheers!
-
The way TrackIR works in BS is very good. You won't be disappointed. Setup is easy, too.
-
Hi Pavlos, Looks like you have found the problem - If I think of it I will see if ships are a problem for me too. With the Virtual Memory, I meant having it set to System Managed or a specified size, instead of having no virtual memory. Cheers!
-
Shame you can't get on with BS... I expect ED will be refunding you very soon.
-
I have found I cannot alt-tab unless the virtual memory is set. Using XP, btw.

How do you guys operate the controls?
Vitesse2l replied to mR.Waffles's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
What's wrong with your MSFFB? I have had to repair mine because the power socket has broken. My quick fix was to solder the power leads directly to the circuit board. I could buy a new plug and socket but TBH it's worked like this for several years and it's an old gameport type... Note - If this is the problem, do not mix up the polarity! MSFFB works very well in this sim. Cheers! -
Demo... http://www.akella.ru/Game.aspx?id=121 Link 4th down on right. Even says Demo in Cyrillic. DL in progress. Very slow and no idea of file size! Cheers! PS I have an idea this is actually the DX10 Benchmark, has been available for some time

I had no problems with alt-tab until I tried switching off the page file. After I restored it to 'system managed', Alt-Tab was OK again.

MS FFB does anyone have advice on settings?
Vitesse2l replied to DanKurt's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Using a gameport type MSFFB with XP. I turned down the FB setting in the DCS control menu to 30, and it works just fine. At 100 the kick was too strong. Trim positioning seems to work properly too. Worth a try? -
Auto Hover disengaging other autopilot functions
Vitesse2l replied to skoiboy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I have come across this too. I thought it may happen when the Ka-50 is at an extreme attitude / speed when autohover is engaged. You certainly know when the a/p's are not working. -
Thanks for the kind words Sonic. Glad you finally made it...that landing in the dusk is really satisfying. The whole environment is very immersive. Regarding the wingman loadout - I hadn't really thought about him so his loadout was forgotten, but within the context of the mission, you are not supposed to be attacking, just "showing the flag". I'm not really sure, but if he is armed, the mission might work out differently. How you fly is, of course, up to you! I think the stingers are very effective (perhaps too good?). My idea was that the insurgents were warned of your approach and thus ready and waiting. I have another mission in the works - The premise being that a Russian HQ facility is about to be overrun by mixed US forces. Your task is to delay the final assault. So far I have been tweaking the ground forces and watching how they fight. I'm aiming for a situation where you don't have to destroy all opposition to gain victory. Nothing worse than searching for the very last AK47 Para, I think. Cheers!
-
Well... What you could do is delete the unit in the mission editor, or reduce it's skill level. I understand the frustration here. That part of the mission is at least 20 minutes in. Let me know how it goes - I could edit that section if you need. Cheers!
-
Hi Element1108, That's exactly the sort of experience I was hoping for when I started work on the mission, except for the lost in clouds bit! The Ka-50 really does not like that sort of weather. The F16's are triggered by your increasing altitude , but they don't always get you. The radio message when they go active is just there to increase your heart rate!

My old gameport MS FFB gave that kick too. The stick has strong motors. I have set the DCS feedback strength to 30, which works fine for me Try the axis swap and see if that is the problem.

Some translated text for you to cut and paste into the campaign builder and mission editor. Note: First campaign mission only. I have tweaked the text to read OK. Not entirely sure about unit/place names. Campaign Description: The situation in the West Caucasus became complicated in the summer of 2009. Islamist nationalist groups formed in the territories of Karachaevo-Cherkesii and Kabardino-Balkarii to the south of Krasnodar and Stavropol. They began an effective terrorist campaign. Attacks to the organs of state power, infrastructure and army garrisons were devastating. Realizing the likelihood of full-scale military conflict, The Russian Federeation government made a decision to declare a state of emergency in the southern region and began to strengthen army units and border patrols. Description: SITUATION By order of the Commander you are deployed on active service in the Ka-50 combat helicopter squadron at the disposal of 55- GO OBVP (individual combat helicopter regiment), usually equiped with Mi-24[V] Hinds. You will take the post of Commander of the 1st battalion of the 3rd UAE. Temporary staff and billets are arranged on the airfield at Mineral'nye Vody. August 12, 2009. After conducting an operation to destroy troop formations in the mountains, the situation became somewhat settled. In June and July 55- GO [OBVP] worked hard in support of the 10th motorized rifle division. They carried out a number of assaults on scouted positions which allowed troops to be stationed at key hilltop postitions and other strong points. Further, they carried out operations in the interests of the Federal Boundary Service (FPS), the FSB and the Search and Rescue service (PSS). At present 55 OBVP has two farps equipped in the Southern outskirts Circassian, called Podkova and Vetka and east of Kurgan village in OPRS Kislovodsk-West 995.00 KV, call sign Torba. Red Task August 15, To the commander, 1st battalion of the 3rd UAE (call sign 251) : Conduct reconnaissance and check flight along a route IS CIRCASSIAN [Podkova] - UST' -[DZhEGUTA] - TERESA - - UST' -[DZhEGUTA] - TERESA - KURGAN - [KISLOVODSK]; [Podkova] Total Distance 157 km. Follow the commander 1st UAE (call sign 105) from the base at Podkova. The barometric altitude will be 600 - 1500 meters. Readiness at 07-30 for takeoff at 08-00. Combat loadout is not required. On the route you will become familiar with the landmarks and natural obstacles of the region. Warning! Difficult conditions near mountainous terrain require special care. Before the flight you will study the limitations of altitude-speed regimes. The flight plan is available on your Abris display.

Hehe! It's worth knowing where your flare release button is. I have wondered about difficulty...The opfor could be set to lower skill levels . There are one or two other surprises to find. It's a nice feeling when you get back within radio range of your base and you see the runway lights in the distance.
-
Yes, all done with triggers. Who got you, BTW? *SPOILER* following... Usually I get caught just after the wingman says we're safe... Glad you had some fun.
-
Here's a training flight that I have been playing with... All in English and simply follow your waypoints. Sort of... The objective here is simply to return to base. You begin from the runway with engines running and loaded for bear. Set the radar altimeter warning to around 30m. Program the countermeasures dispenser. Set the Abris to map. Please excuse my sloppy naming and organization in the editor. I have flown this many times and it all seems to work OK. Any Feedback / Problems / Suggestions welcome. Thanks! Evening_Sortie.miz

I have found that there is no force feedback if I take control in the first training mission, and the joystick needs to be re-centred after releasing the trim button. In ordinary missions (both Russian and user created) the force feedback works and the joystick centre is set to the trimmed position when the button is released. At least that is how it works for me! I found that I had to reduce the feedback strength on my MS Sidewinder before I got comfortable. BTW No ffb when I take control in track replays either. Is that similar to what you are getting? Cheers!
-
Being slightly limp-wristed, I was having problems with "the jerk" on my MS FFB stick. Just too powerful, and my Ka-50 was dancing across the sky. After reading this thread, I had the trimming routine sorted out in the first training mission (the FFB does not work when you take control) and was very comfortable. Once FFB is working (all other missions) it was a different story I've used the BS control options to reduce the feedback to an acceptable level. 30 is working for me. Cheers!

Selecting missions cases game to freeze
Vitesse2l replied to Kebabs's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Glad you are sorted. I was trying to get Cyrillic characters in XP to help in translating mission briefings. It would have made the process a bit easier. Cheers! -
Selecting missions cases game to freeze
Vitesse2l replied to Kebabs's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Can you load any of the in-game missions? A similar problem happened to me after I set up with Russian as the non-unicode option in the XP Regional and Language settings. I could not load any missions or load / save in the editor. Changing the option away from Russian followed by a shutdown / restart seemed to have fixed it. The stuck loading screen is what I got too. The language change may not have been the problem but could be be worth a try. Hope this helps. -
Cannot assign axis in the control options
Vitesse2l replied to kaos.dll's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The axis box (you have the right one) can be accessed when you select the Axis options in the pull down menu at the top - shows 'Bce' in your cap. Should be the only option in red. Then you can select the box at the bottom. I hope that helps.
