When I flew yesterday, someone had crashed on the aircraft parked next to the fire engine. I started to wonder if they had been called out to attend the fire! The airfields do look better with more activity.

Some translation for Denis:- Hello, Sorry that I do not speak English. After multiple installations of DCS BS, I reach the menu and the options but as soon as I want to make a mission I have a message of 'error at the point of entered of procedure' ..... Worldgeneral.dll is untraceable (not found?). A little assistance would be the welcome. Denis

You'd probably have to ask an old-time sailor about the wind direction convention. Strange that in two Russian sims it's the reverse of that (international?) convention. I would imagine such a thing being common knowledge.

Question about stable flying - Super noob Helo driver
Vitesse2l replied to zahedia3's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Regarding rockets, I have read advice that once aligned, you should adjust with the collective rather than cyclic control. Certainly a long steady run-in helps. Helps the ground defences, that is. -
I believe that if you have switched your comms to the ground channel, your ground crewman remains plugged in to your KA-50 until you retune your selector. He does not like you taking off with him still attached!

First thought - have you switched on the three autopilot channels? Blue buttons on lower right hand panel. They should illuminate. -
The ailerons are shown working in reverse - turn left and the left aileron drops. Unless this is some new airbus innovation?

Well done on the CNC. It makes some good noises - it is indeed alive. See if your acrylic supplier will sell you some offcuts, or find one of their local customers, and buy their offcuts. 8 x 4 sheets are an awkward size for cars and home. I assume you will be able to control the plunge depth on your router? Or just two positions? You'll be able to feed your cutter (1/8 or 1/4 end mill?) at a good speed, but your enemy will be heat, and the acrylic melting round the cutter, I think. Never machined acrylic like that though, you may be fine. This has got me thinking about g codes and cutter offsets for the first time in years! Looking forwards to seeing your results.

Ocean... bluish-white... sometimes flickers too

If it's only the settings in the Courier mission... Check in the mission editor for any fog set at low level. -
Initial impressions and a huge thanks

If you're not enjoying the experience unless you're using FD then go with the FD... How I do it is to switch the Route / Track switch (right hand side panel, next to the AP buttons) to it's middle position. Set like this, the heading caret in the HUD is reset to your current heading when you release the trim switch - and the KA-50 wants to head where you've just pointed it. In combat I am usually working the Shkval with the turn to match shkval view (Q by default) switched on. Cyclic and rudder need to be near centred to allow the AP enough authority to work. With the Ka-50 in a stable hover / slow flight it's possible to be head down for quite a while. Helps if you set the altitude warning, and keep a scan going. Works for me, sorta. I still die a lot too! I'm flying FC2 as well as BS, but I must say the added systems of the BS give me that little bit more connection with the DCS World. Cheers! -
I don't think there is anything much wrong with the MP code. My problems were certainly at my end. I flew two hours yesterday evening FC2 and BS with no problems at all. Not sure what Rastaputin is on about. A few members posted http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51983 with MP problems and PT has been most helpful. Cheers!

Thanks for the information Panzertard. It helped me troubleshooting my connection problem today and I think (hope) I have cured it. Don't think it was ED's fault. More likely mine from fiddling where I shouldn't!

Longevity of DCS electronic battlefield series?
Vitesse2l replied to M31's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Good Question! The whole DCS series must have been planned with consideration for evolution in the engine. As far as models go, there's a time at which there's no point adding more detail (speck of corrosion on that rivet?). There are always other areas to improve and features to add which might be labour intensive (but would really alter the game world without needing a radical graphic overhaul) - I'm thinking of different maps, ai behaviour, the mythical dynamic campaign... -
I've noticed the HUD nav info doesn't update when in AG mode too. Strange, I think. When the Maverick is locked on / stabilised, you can still slew it around - or do you mean against targets that are very close together? Cheers!
-
Perhaps place an object / unit under or near the bridge and use that for the trigger when it is damaged or destroyed? Wouldn't be very good it it got hit but not the bridge, though.
-
Thanks, Panzer, looks like the connection is really dropping out then. I was hoping to see an actual latency number, as in your example there. I've been looking at this today to try and see what's causing it. More investigation needed, I think.
-
Hi Panzer, Just tried the server to see how the average ping test works out... I got kicked (no warnings beforehand) with a timeout message. Happened a few minutes ago - about 17.20 here, I was using my forum nick. Be interested to know how it showed up in your logs. Cheers!
-
Just TCP/UDP 10308.
-
The timeout comes from the server settings - many run something called Servman, developed for DCS and now FC2. It controls when a player is kicked for high latency. The figure can be edited, I believe. I know I have a ping of around 65ms to the STP server, with occaisional jumps to 120 ish, but every few minutes I get a timeout of a second or so... I can usually get into a server OK though. I don't think the basic BS or FC2 server checks for ping (may be wrong here) but Servman is popular because of it's features (votekicking, TK banning etc). Cheers!
-
Hi Panzertard, I'd always assumed the server timeout would be a problem at my end, but since I can use BS servers... Are you saying that if my FC2 player connection is dropped (and I get a warning) that the problem may be with the server / settings? Refreshing the server list after getting dropped, I usually see other players showing as still connected.
-
Ah, so if this is servman related, perhaps the ping timeout limit needs to be raised? I know if I ping a server from desktop I will see single timeouts every three or four of minutes. I have had timeouts with BS servers in the past, but don't have any problems now.
-
I'm getting this too. I can fly on BS servers, but get timed out on FC2.

I imagine the training tracks will be in Russian...
