I'm getting this issue as well. Since I only got my Rift recently, and from reading other posts, I get the feeling that a bug was introduced into a recent version? I'm using KP5 to recentre, but I would really like the zoom functionality.

BoxxMann's Tips - Adjust Seat/Eyepoint with VR

I am unable to assign anything to these commands. I double click with the mouse as usual but nothing happens. Any idea why this might be? Thanks for all the info, btw, very helpful. -

"The training that comes with the a10 is a must." Yes, I get that, and that I must RTFM (both of which I have done). But a checklist has been provided that is different from the one in the DCS manual. The startup procedure in the checklist has differences from the one in the training mission. The point I was trying to make was that it would have been nice (just out of interest) to have been provided with a bit of background as to where the checklist came from, and why it was decided to use it instead of the checklists that come with the DCS manual. Where there are items that are different to / not in the DCS manual checklist, then an explanation would have been welcome. I've spent hours just investigating the Ground Handling Practice Mission, it's inspired me to look into all those obscure switches I've never bothered with, and to take a much deeper look into the checklist and systems. So, all good really. -
... is that in the mission builder, or in the cockpit?
-
Please provide the option in the mission builder to provide a debriefing text at mission completion, i.e. the option for mission designers to put in a custom debrief text dependent on mission outcome - like the briefing text at the start.
-
Or ED could just implement this feature... I'm surprised it's not requested more often. Off to the requests forum I go... I mean, something like this has existed in most of the flight sims I can think of going back for decades. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Checklist questions Before takeoff checklist Left console 4. CCTVS / DVADR Remote control panel. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Instrument Panel 3. Armament Control Panel - SET , should items 4 - 12 be subitems a) - h) instead? Right Console 5. Oxygen system - CHECK. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Prior to Engine Start 14. CDU - Set for desired alignment. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Starting Engines 10. Flight controls - CHECK. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. 11. AC generators - CHECK. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. 11. Instrument inverter - CHECK. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Before Taxiing 16. Trim - CHECK. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. 19. Slat operation, peak performance, etc... Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. 21. CDU data - VERIFY / ENTER. Don't understand what I'm supposed to do. AFTER EGI INS ALIGNMENT IS COMPLETE. 22. CDU Align page The thing is I don't see a message that alignment has completed. I see IFFCC NOT RDY. Should turning on the IFFCC come before this step? -
RE - bindings in "View Cockpit" section of "Adjust Controls" Dear ED, Please (really, PLEASE) consider making the following additions to the in-cockpit view system. Add a new set of bindings: <modifier key> + direction (e.g. LShift + Num0 - Num9) These would match the current snap views (LWin + Num0 - Num9), but once pressed* the view would STAY CHANGED. Once at the new view, the camera view movement keys would allow you to continue changing the camera view as usual. F1 Cockpit view would return you to the default front view. I realise that there is a "Cockpit panel view toggle" (RCtrl + Num0), which tries to achieve something similar, but I find it completely impractical. * and released, i.e. no need to keep holding the keys down. ***** Supplementary What is the point of the "Cockpit panel view in" (Num0) function? It seems redundant to me. What is the point of the "View direction" (RShift + Num1 - Num9) functions? They appear to do nothing. What is the point of the "Return camera" (RCtrl + Num5)? It appears to do nothing. What is the point of the "Return camera base" (RAlt + Num5)? It appears to do nothing. Thank you.

Working my way through the before takeoff checklist. I'd have liked to have had some backround information on it (why is it different from Eagle Dynamics procedure in the manual? how / why was it put together?); some items I think require further explanation. -

Suggestions for mission BFT01 Ground Handling Practice Mission (preflight checks part) - Explain to user that you have provided a pdf checklist, which he should use. - I found it hard to keep up at times, especially on the longer items (like making a radio call, waiting for INS alignment, etc). Perhaps a "press space to continue once complete" message every so often; otherwise one slip or delay and the whole mission can be screwed (or maybe that's the intention? ;)). -Explain to the user that sometimes it's necessary to hold button for 1 second if the game is to correctly recognise keypresses. I found the "Press and hold for 1 second count." message confusing in that there is no context to it. -After not doing it right I see "We will end our flight here. You did poorly cadet..your rating is an unqualified...you need to spend more time training". I'm a bit confused, I thought this was a practice. Will I have to keep repeating this mission? I feel this practice / qual needs to be more clearly explained. Is the qual a later mission or part of the same mission? Questions: What is the CCTVS/DV ADR Remote Control Panel? Why is the UHF radio turned on at a different stage in the checklist to the others? -

Just wanted to add the following: I can see just from the first mission the amount of work you must've put into the campaign. Speaking for myself, I'm more than happy that I've got my money's worth. So please don't think I'm complaining; and feel free to ignore my questions and suggestions (which I'll post on here in case they're useful to others). I guess you're now expected to support and keep these campaigns updated - what have you let yourself in for? ;) -

Suggestions following mission "Arrival" Provide an unambiguous message at mission end to let the user know that the mission has finished and that he can now exit by pressing ESC. (like you get in most of the training missions). I pressed ESC after being told to go to the office, and I'm 95% sure that's that. But it might not be... I believe that this mission has to be played through to completion or you can't proceed to the next one. This is fine for the first time you play the campaign, but a bit of a drag if you to have to sit through it every time you restart the campaign. Maybe there's a way to give the user the option to skip through. I realise that I could just load the missions individually, but (and I know it's silly), I like the feeling of continuity you get from doing the campaign. -
Hi, I'm not a mission builder myself, but posting here because I am surprised that I have never seen a mission with debriefing text at completion. I don't mean the log of events you get at the end, I do get that. I mean the option for mission designers to put in a custom debrief text dependent on mission outcome - like the briefing text at the start. Can it possibly be that after all these years a feature like this does not exist in DCS?

I'm not sure I've made my point very well. The docs folder location was an example I was making of information I think should be included in a separate, comprehensive, readme file (or a web page). I think that putting that sort of thing in the campaign intro will kill the realism vibe I suspect you're trying to go with in there. More information that would be useful for someone just picking this up could also include: - hints and tips like, well, these two: "Most people play the campaign through the campaigns menu but you can also play the missions individually through the mission menu" "The campaign is structured so you do a practice mission first which introduces you to the Performance Check. If successful then you progress to the Qualification mission." (Thanks for those btw). - known issues / bugs - latest changes and updates - there are forum threads about your campaign running to 100s of pages - I imagine there must be common issues and questions in there which crop up over and again. If only someone could pick them out and present them in an easily accessible document... ;) Anyway, I'll leave you alone now; thanks for taking the time to respond. -
"moved a camera to be inside static external-view pilot's head" I like it - good thinking, Batman! In the end, I've made adjustments to my default view, and my end result is very similar to yours. I will accept that I don't get a full HUD without moving in a bit closer (I am using TrackIR). On a positive note, however, I can look down at the side consoles and move in for a closer look at the MFDs without putting my back out. I also find looking up into turns much more comfortable. I have made my adjustments based on the following assumptions from looking at RW photos: When the pilot looks straight ahead his eyeline is just over the HUD frame. The ED default view has him looking down 19 degrees. => Changed vAngle to 0, and raised the eyepoint slightly. The eyepoint should be further back from the HUD => moved mine back an amount that seemed "about right" to me, and that works well. vAngle = 0.000000, -- default approx -19 x_trans = 0.152174, -- default 0.360549, fwd-back y_trans = -0.012575, -- default -0.041328, up-down Hopefully, someday, someone who's been in the real aircraft will let us know what's what.

Hi, I've just picked this up at the ED shop. I would like to suggest that you consider adding an up-to-date intro document / readme.txt / "getting started" introductory guide to get people going in the right direction. It appears to me that new users are supposed to just click the campaign in game and go from there. For example, I see that there are documents ..\DCS World\Mods\campaigns\A-10C AAT\Doc, ..\DCS World\Mods\campaigns\A-10C - Basic Flight Training Qualification\Doc ...but this isn't mentioned anywhere. I don't think that people should just be expected to know this. Again, e.g., I see that there's a nice checklist in there, and would assume that I'm supposed to use that for the missions; but how am I expected to know about it in the first place? So I go to the forums and I find threads with hundreds of posts (no, I'm not going to read them all), mentions of practice missions (what's that about?), and I am ready to give up before I start. Sorry if I've missed something somewhere, or if I'm just being a bit thick. Please don't take this as a ranting complaint, just a suggestion. Anyhow, I'm sure the campaign will be excellent, thank you for putting it together.

Picking up A-10C again and this is bugging me again. Just wondering whether this point was ever definitively clarified? I think I read somewhere that the default head position chosen for the game is the position the RL pilot has to move his head to so that he can see the entire HUD. I think that in RL photos where the A-10 gun is being fired the pilot can often be seen leaning forward. So sitting back the RL pilot cannot see the whole HUD, just as happens in game?

sorry, been overdoing it in the a10c with the red flag campaign, and had a bit of a realism overdose. i think what i should've said was: good idea to be able to keep awacs quiet, but maybe the comms menu isn't the best place to activate it.

Many thanks for posting that, it was very useful. I had heard of Voice Attack, but was perfectly happy with VAC, so had never looked into it. Those are some pretty nifty features you point out from the video. I will investigate what else Voice Attack offers, and might get that instead. The way I prefer to do things is different to Froogle's, as I read out each command as it appears on screen and have VAC send one keystroke each time. This is unlike the (more usual) method of saying the whole command and having the voice software send all the keystrokes in one go. My memory abilities are just not up to remembering all the possible combinations, especially with multiple aircraft, and periods of being away from the sim. So, for now, I continue to humbly ask that ED consider my request. -
Why don't you change the frequency on the radio, or just turn the radio off? I expect that this is how you would accomplish it in reality, as I don't think the AWACS would stop broadcasting to the entire theatre because it's irritating one pilot. Sorry if I'm missing something, or if this sounds unhelpful - it's not my intention; just not sure that this addition would reflect reality.

I recently bought and started this campaign, and have had no crashes at all. I'm up to mission 4, which I've now reflown a few times as I'm struggling to complete it successfully. As far as I can tell, everything appears to work, with other flights appearing to do what they're supposed to. Only a minor issue I've found: I can't seem to get a clearance to takeoff when I request it. I have been very careful to keep to taxi / takeoff / push times as closely as possible.
