  1. I notice that in the key bindings (options) the HOTAS trigger is described as SECOND stage to SPACE. Is there a first stage and, if so, what does it do? Or is this just a mistake in the options.
  2. Around the OBOGS switch in the sequence, one of the instructor's sentences was in (I think) German. (I am running in English).
  3. You could also try the graphics setting I'm using, described below, to see if it's any clearer with those. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=210356 BTW, agree on the MPCD, light map colours make it very difficult. But I can easily read when zoomed in.
  4. This is actually something I was expecting to be a problem. However, for me, I am surprised that it isn't. I can certainly read it when zoomed, and can make it out a lot better than I was expecting when not. I wonder if you might have an issue. What's your system, settings (PD)? I'm afraid I have no idea if the font can be changed. I suspect not.
  5. Personally I find fluctuating framerates (ASW disabled) in VR very uncomfortable.
  6. "performs very well". I know it's a drag, but any chance you could run the test described, so we can put a number on that. I'd be very interested to get the fps number for a 1080. Before ED forced deferred rendering, I would have agreed with you. Now, I'm a bit skeptical. Note that the other poster with a 1080 Ti was getting 77 fps, at minimal settings with not much going on. Start adding shadows and raising all the other eye candy, and then what? I realise that MSAA x 4 is the culprit, but for me, VR is ruined without AA. Are you using MSAA? Also imho, for VR, you really want > 90 fps most of the time.
  7. Sorry for the shameless plug for my own post, but... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=210356 **** EDIT **** Around 70 fps on my monitor. But I'm running my minimal VR settings (see link above). (50 fps in VR)
  8. I think he means that with such a high resolution AA should not be necessary. I, however, entirely agree with you. Without AA, the jaggies on this sim are appalling, even at a very high res. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=208578 As to the title of your post, +1 from me.
  9. Thanks for the update. I just setup a mission north of Crimea, just 1 solitary hornet (me) flying level in a barren wasteland. All settings the same - 56 fps.
  10. I'm wandering out of my comfort zone here, so perhaps someone who's more knowledgeable can set me straight. Wouldn't it be possible for ED to add another shader that clamps grey colour values that exhibit the problem to pure black?
  11. Thank you. Also - the kneeboard shortcuts work! (Thanks Belsimtek - I guess).
  12. Give each manual a version number and highlight changes from version to version (e.g. black bar on page borders next to changes, list of page numbers changed at beginning). With current manuals I can see that file dates and sizes sometimes change, but I'm never sure exactly what has been updated. I'll get in early with this request for the F-18.
  13. (77 fps) Many thanks for taking the time and effort. RE photos: What I do is go to my forum profile, create an album, upload the photos to an album. I then put links to those photos in my post. edit - PS what CPU are you running?
  14. I believe it's possible to get DCS to run without the Oculus software starting up. I haven't tried it myself. Does it provide much of measurable performance improvement? I doubt it, but will try it if someone says it does. BTW. I get 80 FPS with all settings the same, except MSAA = OFF.
  15. Wow - thanks :). No rush - 10 days would've been just fine.
  16. Thanks for replying. CV1 = consumer version 1 (iirc), i.e. the release version. Previous versions were developer versions. Yours is a CV1.
  17. I wonder if an Oculus Rift CV1 user with a 1080 Ti OR 1080 would be so kind as to run the following test on their system, so that I can gauge whether to buy one of these (£800+ :() cards. And for the test itself: Keep the HMD on your desk, we do not want its screens to activate at any point. Be careful not to accidentally trigger the sensor with fingers while moving / placing the headset. Start Oculus Home. I'm running version 2.whatever the latest update is. Start DCS OpenBeta 2.5.2.17978. Change DCS settings so that they match the settings below. Bring up the frame rate counter (ctrl - pause). Run the instant action mission "Airfield Takeoff and Navigation", i.e. click on "FLY". Centre the view with VR Centre. You may need to move the HMD before keystrokes register. Let me know what your frame rate is (just sitting in the cockpit). (optional) Do the same for the missions "Carrier Takeoff" and "Ready on the Ramp". This would be very helpful to me. Many, many thanks for any replies. I would like to get an idea for both the 1080 and 1080 Ti.
  18. Not to the same extent, but I suspect that the buildings around Kobuleti aren't helping. Need to do a lot more "testing". I think I'll just have to create very basic missions in a very barren area.
  19. Not to take anything away from the hornet, which is an outstanding piece of work. But with my system, I find myself forced to turn off MSAA, which ruins the experience. This is due more to the enforced deferred shading option, than the F-18 itself. Still, my impression (will have to test) is that the F-18 is slightly more demanding on performance than the A-10C. The multiple static objects is definitely a problem for me. Landing at Kobuleti in the VFR landing training mission, brings my frame rate down to around 25 fps (unusable), at the most minimal settings. Sigh - I wish they'd delayed deferred shading for another two years...:(
  20. For those with 1080 Tis, are you running with MSAA? Are your frame rates OK when landing at Kobuleti in the VFR landing training mission?
  21. :D Surely "work" should be in quotes as well! (Work) Colour laser printer at the ready.
  22. I have tried to assign the following keybinds Kneeboard Make Shortcut Kneeboard Next Shortcut Kneeboard Prev Shortcut but they don't work. Are they supposed to work? Is it functionality you plan to incorporate in the future? And just out of interest - is it something that's easy to include with an aircraft? I just found out about this functionality, which is only available on certain aircraft.
  23. To answer my own questions (after some very limited testing): The functions do not appear to work in the C-101. In Mi-8: The bookmarks are not saved - so would have to be set up each time. This is not exactly ideal.
  24. The keybinds are also available for the C-101 (haven't tried them yet though), so maybe not just Belsimtek aircraft? Maybe the wish needs to be changed to: implement for all aircraft please?
  25. This happened to me also - I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to be doing, before I knew it I was out of the MOA. I believe that the thing to do is to keep to the flight plan, as you're supposed to land at Kobuleti (not Batumi). I carried on for the landing anyway. However on contacting ATC I was told to land on 07, whereas the mission expects you to land on 24 (I got a message telling me to leave the runway using the taxiway to the right - this only works if landing on 24). Also - when joining with the instructor, and descending, I get a message that I hit the waypoint too early. Following the low level route at around 800 feet throughout appeared to work ok, but was arriving at all waypoints around 4 minutes before specified TOT (on the CDU). Even so the instructor messages said I was on time. Will try again later. ***EDIT - All worked out ok when I did as above.
