What to Expect in the Next Hornet Open Beta Update (11/21?)
Jockcop replied to Fropa's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
So how silly do you feel now?... turns out he was bang on the money. Maybe cut out the calling people COD players to make yourself feel superior. -
Looked fantastic. Can see frame rates and GPU' melting though!! ;)
-
Check out the fidelity lol :)

I do worry that the sonar systems and some of the avionics from the HMA8 or AH9a maybe to advanced for to be released for DCS. The AH7 is relatively straight forward and TOW aint exactly classified anymore ;)
-
Yea, it’s definetly the naval Lynx that interests me the most but I’ll take what I can get :)
-
I think you will be able to run eventually but that will simply be as part of an expanded CSAR mission to get in the Helicopter. Trying to fit anymore FPS elements than that is waste or resources at this stage. I too would love an ARMA/DCS fusion but its just not technically possible at the moment.

Composite helicopters are excluded from the competition as held by the Fédération aéronautique internationale (FAI; English: The World Air Sports Federation) Its held over a measured 15/25km straight course. Still holds the record :)

Been holding off on a helicopter purchase as like the warbirds. I haven't seen anything that gave me that tingle of excitement you get when you see a new aircraft that your excited for announced. It then hit me exactly the kinda aircraft that I would wanna see. Lynx HAS3/MK7 They have just gone out of service this year after being replaced with the Wildcat. While there is a outward similarities, in a similar vein to he Super Hornet and Hornet, the Wildcat has 95% new components and is to all extents and purposes, a brand new helicopter. Which mean the Lynx is freed up in term of being out of service technology. As well as being incredibly light and manoeuvrable, being described as a joy to fly, they were used, especially the naval variant by a variety of counties and in many theatres. Falklands (map is coming up) Gulf war, Tanker war, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. The HAS3 (or later variants would dive us something DCS is lacking- a maritime strike helicopter ability. More naval units are being added and having a torpedo and Anti Ship missile capable helicopter would be a game changer. During the Gulf War, Sea Lynx's flying off of British frigates and destroyers, decimated the Iraqi Navy, being responsible for destroying a significant proportion of their surface fleet I got a ride in the back of both in the AH7 and 9's while I was in the army and can attest to the fact the pilots can throw the dam things around!! Did I also mention the Lynx still holds the worlds helicopter straight speed record  They biggest downside I can see is that, the HA3/HMA8 variant is that they would have to model the sonar buoys and torpedo subsequently, the submarines and I'm not sure how advanced there tech and plans for naval ship simulation is.

For the Harrier, would have to treat the LITENING pod like era inappropriate weapons and just not load it. Nothing you can do about the cockpit screens sadly. Can’t have every aircraft, every era :( lol
-
Would also like an option to toggle the helmet sight as because when we get F14, and Intruder, I really want to do a Gulf War 1 proxy with 1991 period weapons. On the blue side, player controlled F18, 15, 14, Huey, Gazelle, Mirage 2000, Harrier and A10 are all period accurate. Less hardware on the red side but you still have 21, 29 and MI 8.

BUT DAD I WANNA GO TO DISNEYLAND!!!!

ED seems to be taking what he says seriously. I cant imagine they haven't checked who he is before they make changes to a flight model. I get annoyed that every second guy or girl on here claims to be a real life pilot when its clear some of them are bull shitting but heh, that's the internet and this guy seems to be have genuine knowledge. Here's food for thought for you- There is literally no evidence to support your claims either. You keep constantly talking about your years and years spent "around pilots". There is no more evidence of that than there is of him being a Hornet pilot. As you say yourself, anyone on here can claim to be "qualified" And even if it was true, according to you, you were an electrician, ie never flown the dam thing yourself in your life. If i want to know how to drive an F1 car, ill speak to Lewis Hamilton, not the guy who wires his steering wheel.

Wondered if it be Super Hornet or F35.

I'm a fairly late comer having only been flying or six months and i have to say i have been so impressed. This is the dream terms of what i wanted from a Mil Flight Sim. Is there room for improvement and expansion? Of course, that's the nature of not only a beta build but video game development but I'm really excited to see where we will be in two years time and onwards. Ill see you all up there :) (where you will inevitably shoot me down )

Coming up for about 3-4 hours for the whole lot.

Think it means once its released, t will be installed as normal in DCS. Buy as normal through the store.

B2 is stealth and in service. Chances of them getting the data they need for that is zero. B52 is more possible but in terms of gameplay its not a great idea. None of the maps are currently big enough to do the missions properly. The flying would be more like a civie airliner, sat in a cockpit for 8 hours+. Same issues with doing something like a WW2 Lancaster. Is that fun gameplay for someone? to sit in a waist gunners position for 8 hours with nothing happening waiting for an attack which may never actually happen. A full blown module is YEARS of work and all of that for what would be a very niche plane with gameplay which wouldn't work with how DCS is currently just isn't really worth it for them at the moment. If they do eventually make DCS World a whole world map which is one of their ambitions, then it might become a more viable thing. Taking off from USA, flying to an AO conducting a mission and returning. Would take hours!!.

I'm not sure if id buy the F1 myself but I'm glad its coming as I just remembered it was flown by the Argentinians during the Falkland's War and by the French and Iraqis in the Gulf 91 war. So pretty handy for recreating those :)
-
Was gonna say this. No one has paid for a thing yet do your certainly not a customer.
-
Really looking forward to this. Keep up the great work :) Will there be era specific AI aircraft? A4's/ Mirages and sea harrier/ Sea kings/Lynx for instance? And if we own an AV Harrier will we be able to launch of that ski jump? ;)

The Star Citizen system is an "off the shelf" one from another company. Not tied to SC. Its scheduled for Q4 this year. Whether it gets delayed is another thing though!!.
-
Exactly. This is all covered already. That's the issue with social areas in online games. There is little point because you can communicate anytime with people regardless or where they are. Games like Star Citizen are using a face tech system to copy your face move movements from webcam onto your face in the game. That's obviously not appropriate for DCS.

Id love the Tornado but since its still flying as the GR4, I imagine its unlikely at the moment. F-111 is iconic, would provide an aircraft whose history stretches from Vietnam all the way up to 91 Gulf and could bring some much needed two seater multiplayer. Bring on the aardvark :)
