The carrier box is part the FCLP period, one in same. Rwy centerline doesnt provide same sight cues as a carrier box.

Please call the MPCDs, and DDIs, no one calls it the AMPCD except here.

Using "throttle for GS and stick for AOA" when landing
SnappShot replied to LJQCN101's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
This would be great, but honestly IMO iit falls short in several areas, one....cost would be prohibitive in many pilots circumstances, two...the fundamental problem is basic airmanship and failing at it in many of the base to final stall spin accidents. If you cant aviate with an airspeed indicator properly, what makes me believe an aoa guage will change that. Cynical, yes, but imo the truth.l. You Already have a psuedo aoa guage inherint in your stall horn. -
Carrier box was mentioned in passing in that thread, it requires more visibilityy from devs and players as to what the carrier box is, besides paint on a runway.
-
Why no Case III carrier landing? Its the only way you land at night or during foul weather. Other recomendations, Day VFR Landing pattern be renamed FCLPs, and IFR landing pattern being renamed TACAN and GCA approaches.

Reference google earth imagery of the runways at various NAS's and please implement the carrier landing box. This will increase FCLP immersion. Icing on the cake would be a lighted carrier box for nite fclp. The candle on top of the icing would be the ability to turn off the runway lights, but keep the carrier box lit. Lastly the sprinkles on top would be an integrated ICLS boresighted to match the meatball like its meant to IRL.

https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/magic-carpet-will-make-landing-on-a-carrier-so-much-eas-1793618342 PLM is referenced in the article. Pilot to pilot its referred to as PLM. The function of setting 8.1 AOA is two fold, an appropriate airspeed and setting the hook appropriately to catch a wire. Something that is commonly referred to is hook to ramp clearance and I'm sure this factors in as well. -

That's the name the nerds in the test community came up with. Pilots call it PLM or precision landing modes -

I can tell none of the RL flight time is behind a boat by your responses. Answer me this, might have to find a copy of natops, what aoa split or less will not be indicated by a caution in the hornet? Example, you go and join on the maiden, basketslap both sides of your nose (whete aoa probes are), they both are jacked up, but the left right split isnt enuf, you recover back to the boat at night, imc, with incorrect aoa, bad time to find out it doesnt matter. -

How do you not know there is a failure in the aoa, could care less about the pitot as its outve the scope of this discussion. LDG Checks 3 down and locked FLAS full or half Hook up and light out Anti Skid on or off (boat dependent) On Speed xxxkts Seems like more than airmanship PS your civilian flying translates to nearly nothing here sdflyer -
Instead of acting like a bunch of excited schoolboys and speculate, how about we make sure they support the tomcat longterm. If the Fishbed is any indication of longterm support, Ill be taking a wait and see approach on any new modules.

59.99 two years ago, so much great promise, everything is fantastic until you remove t he chocks, then you enter the world of the SFM which is terrible. Get me a believable EFM than ill says its worth it. Until then, stay away and force them to finish it.

Same problem in my group of dudes, i started as administrator, seems to be running mo better. Disclaimer, running better off two days of much less loading then kicked shenanigans.

so you dont need to calculate airspeed for on speed aoa in case one of the two aoa probes is damaged or decieving you? -

F-16 flares, F-18 doesnt usually. How is this blowing soo many minds. F-18 FCS set to 8.1 baam done, throttle for g/s, pitch for on speed. done. -

Throttles mil or if directed max from lso. You maintain on speed in the e bracket, throughout the go around and it rises above the horizon. Flaps dont come up unless theyre going to flaps half for an extended pattern during case iii or the boss says to depart which is unlikely given your already established in the pattern. Keys to flying this type of flying, 3 point power corrections, knowing a good neutral power point, keeping lineup in scan, and following paddles rules to live by. There are very slight for and aft inputs, ever so small if your velocity vector lags outside the ebracket. -

There are slight fore and aft pressure on the stick while in the groove. If you don't do that, then you've never landed on a boat before. -

NICE a T-6b landing pattern has zero correlation to a hornets fclp or cv pattern, has this guy even flown a tailhook aircraft?? -

So when I'm hi on glide slope, your telling me a power off correction should not be in conjunction with slight changes in the stick?!?! Literally hands off the stick?
