Well to all those who tried to help me ....thanks. But I finally figured it out somehow...on my other laptop. But for anyone who the INSTALL directions didn't work for them I'll tell you'all what I did. ..because I had to modify things a bit. In my SAVED GAMES folder it only says "DCS" with no option to choose anything else like the Alpha or Beta installations. So I just chose DCS. In the DCS folder there was no "Mods" folder So I went to where I saved the A-4E file clicked on it and copied the "Mods" folder. Then went back to the DCS folder in "Saved Games" opened it and pasted the "Mods" folder into it. Closed everything. Started up DCS as usual and saw that the A-4 was listed with the rest of my aircraft. HOWEVER: There's always a "however" isn't there! I thought that I would quickly check out the new A-4 so I opened up INSTANT ACTION and chose Cold Start for the A4. When the mission begins I can see it sitting on the runway for a split second then it blows up in a fireball before my eyes.....every time. But it does not blow up if I choose a mission when it begins in mid-air.... Hmmmmm...strange! So I landed it three times and all but the last were the best I've ever landed any aircraft. The last one I bunny hopped a bit but I came in from hectic positions without really being set up to land and in fact I didn't use any instruments at all for any of the landings...because I couldn't see them. SO I winged it as they say. And if I had have done this with any of my other aircraft I would have crash on landing for sure! Don't know why it blows up when I start any mission from the ground. Don't know why I can land it so easily...I'm not that good. So.....I gotta say I like the plane after all.....because I can land it real nice!

Well....it didn't go to my desktop. It went to Google Drive....several times. Now I have a whole bunch of copies of it in Google Drive with a bunch of other stuff that I never knew I had.

Thanks but don't bother. I have read all the help websites. They didn't work....and I am not going to go through it again. I've got brain drain from it all.

For one thing it is invasive and it is unnavigable and the option to DL the file to your desktop doesn't exist. Against my better judgement I spent several hours of my life trying to figure out how it works. I am not a novice and if it is this hard to DL a file from google drive then I don't need the A-4 either.

Is this released anywhere else? .....besides Google. If not I'll not bother with this even if it is free. ..You'd think the developers would have more brains than to use Google Drive ...like some Millennial nitwit uploading to its Iphone.

Multiplayer Seems like I can get on a server since the Win 10 1803 upadate. Thanks

Here's the log from the last attempt. It didn't go to a black screen this time. Just hung up at "please wait" dcs log.txt

...And confirmed....cleanup and repair does not work in Powershell. The commands are not recognized even as Admin.

I never tried to repair because I don't understand the instructions anywhere on the web I've read. I get 'access denied' if I try to use the Terminal or whatever Win 10 calls it. Don't know why I would need a repair since I just installed DCS on this pc. Which is weird because I used Terminal to update DCS the other day. Win 8 was so much better for me than 10. I even took the pc to Geek Squad so they could check it. They seemed to think it is running OK. ...Oh..I have a cable connection. Just tried to get on to Buddy Spike. It eventually opened up to what appeared to be a blank Mission map and then after a few minutes it went to a black screen with my Task Bar showing at the bottom. I had to use Task Manager to close DSC.

Yeah....I'm going to upgrade to 24gb RAM any day now. However I have 16gb RAM on my other laptop and have the same problem connecting to servers. I'm using wifi to connect to the internet on both. Also, I have noticed that while trying to connect to a server my disk usage goes to 100%. I dont know if it does that on the old laptop because it's too risky to run DCS on it right now to test it because the CPU fan has quit and I am waiting on the part so I can exchange fans.

I've had a message once or twice about too high a ping before, come to think of it. I think from Buddy Spike. btw .....I'm not in far north Queensland anymore I better change that. I'm in the NW of USA.

Interestingly, now that I finally said something about the problem, I just now managed to actually get on a server for the first time in months. The Normandy WWII server. But I then went to Inferno and it just went into forever load mode as it always has done for that server and me. It drives my disc usage percentage up to 100% while trying to get on. I'll post a log file tomorrow its late here. I don't think there is anything wrong with my two computers.

It crashes in various ways. After trying to load the server for 5 or 10 minutes it just goes black and I have to use Task Mgr to end the DCS program. On rare occasion I can actually get into a server and then DCS crashes or boots me out. I've wasted hours trying to get in. I don't know how the read the log but now that I know to look there I'll keep an eye on it and check it right after DCS crashes or whatever it does.

What's the deal with DCS multi-player servers." It was always a problem but for the last few months it is quite impossible for me to join any of them. DCS crashes every single time now. I've tried on two computers and ...zilch! I hoped the problem would go away when I got my new laptop an Acer Nitro 5 light gaming but it is no better for joining DCS servers than the other. The graphics are way better though. So, why is it that it has become impossible for me to join one of these servers without DCS crashing? And since DCS is aware of this problem why hasn't it been fixed already.......like years ago? Any ideas?

And this is why that keeps getting repeated: If flight sims were not meant to be fairly accurate representations of flight then they would not be used in military flight training. It is simply not "accurate" to offer a flight "sim" in which 99% of new pilots crash and burn on the runway trying to take off the first 100 times they try ----- because in real life you can go to a flying school and they'll let you take a Cesna off the ground on your introductory flight. DCS needs to find a way to accurately portray learning to fly a new aircraft. DCS is not alone in this either.

Thanks but I'm already doing that. In fact with these setting below I can get 18 FPS flying level and 24 FPS pointing at the sky. It doesn't really change much when I turn up or down a few more setting, either.

It can't be THAT hard to takeoff and land a real Spit or even a P51 as it is in DCS, can it! ...I mean if it is, then 99% of WWII pilots in training would have been killed! ......What's the REAL story with why it's so difficult in DCS?

I get pretty crappy performance out of this laptop with settings on low. HP Envy Windows 8.1 64-bit Intel® Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz 16GB memory NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M 1920 x 1080 I'm lucky to get much over 20 FPS

Is it possible for us to install that theme into DCS?..I want it!

Well...I've been trying different things out for a couple of days now, after installing Nvidia Inspector and searching the internet for tips. The problem I have is that my version of Nvidia Inspector (which appears to be current) refuses to show the "Apply Changes" button as is seen on the screen shots of other people's Nvidia Inspector. I can't save any of the changes I make to it that msalama has posted here. Anyone know why that is? DCS 2.5 is only giving me around 19-20 FPS while flying high and doing nothing. I could get 5 or 6 more if I shut something else off but I already have enough shut off. If I have to fly with очень crappy scenery I might not fly at all.....If ya know what I mean.

Thought I'd update here for anyone else like me who ain't too savvy about these things. I just went ahead and updated 2.2 to 2.5 and I now see all the Multiplayer servers. The servers do not appear on 1.5.8 so I suppose they just all migrated to 2.5 Funny, I would have thought that there'd be a few left for the people who stay with 1.5.8 Btw...at the resolution levels that I must use in game I don't see any difference in the visuals between 1.5 and 2.5

I can't find any on version 2.2 either!

When I go to multiplay I don't see any servers at all listed....Blank! However, it seems that once in a while they all appear there as usual. But usually not, lately. I haven't seen a server on the list in 6 or 7 days now. What's up? Is it my ping? I do have a poor connection here and am in the southern hemisphere and is hard to get on a server when I do find one. But now, there is nothing at all in the list.

I think I should remove the Poll, then. Anyone know how to do that?

Thank you so much! I did change the wallpaper, too. I'll do some experimenting. EDIT: I changed the wallpaper back to the original Su-25 and it sounds good again. It was set to Flaming Cliffs. (No more outlandish disco) Thank you for telling me, again.
