  1. I have one SSD C:\ which was intended to be only for the OS and related files. I have another larger SSD D: which I have tried to use for, DCS World, and other programs. The problem: Somehow, DCS is spread over both SSD drives. Somehow there are DCS files in C:\ Saved Games. And there are DCS files in a specified location, where they are supposed to be, in D:\ The Questions: Is this going to be a potential problem later on down the road? What would be the safest and easiest way to collect DCS onto the D drive if I were to attempt to do that?
  2. I don't usually fly with the VPN or Paint.....this ScreenShot was quickly taken for demonstration purposes. There is not much difference with these things on or off anyway. However, I will be upgrading the RAM and have asked for some opinions on another threat about this. I was mostly worried about the GPU. But after doing a web search I read that the GPU is not a problem. I think the RAM might be though.
  3. It seems that I am collecting a bunch of ram sticks of various sizes and speeds. I'll be able to upgrade Mrs Cuckoo's laptop with more of my old ram again, soon.
  4. Yeah.....I'm bad like that! ............I use 4 browsers loaded with tabs all the time. Especially when I am watching tutorials on different weapon systems. But this time I wasn't actually using DCS other than to demonstrate the GPU usage. I guess I should try to turn them all off when flying a mission, though.
  5. Decided to check the Task manager and noticed the high GPU and Memory usage. (It has 16GB RAM) I haven't actually noticed poor performance or low FPS ever. Just wondered what this means and if I should take any actions.
  6. I'm thinking of upgrading from --16GB Ram DDR4 2666mhz -- to 32GB Ram DDR4 2666mhz in my laptop. I was just going to put two sticks of 16gb to replace the two sticks of 8gb already in the laptop. Then saw online, a suitable stick of 32gb and I thought, "What if I buy that one stick of 32gb and leave in one of the 8gb sticks already there, making 40gb in my laptop?" So it would be 32gb on one side and 8gb on the other. I've read that some people say you shouldn't do that and in other places experienced PC people are claiming that it is actually perfectly OK to do that, and that it's an old wives' tail that you shouldn't do it. What is the general consensus here at DCS about this? And what about just running it with one stick of 32gb and the other slot empty....any problems? (In case I want to upgrade further to 64bg) Aorus 7 SA (Specs) AORUS 7 (Intel 9th Gen) Specification | Laptop - GIGABYTE Global
  7. Hangs on the black logo DCS WORLD screen on startup. Music keep playing though. .....does it a whole bunch of times in a row when retrying and ...then it works. Sometimes it don't crash at all. Been doing it 6 or 8 months. Sometimes it's worse than others. Seems random. Gotta use Task Manager to shut it off...then try again. dcs.log.old dcs.log
  8. Is there any way to get ahold of the music files for the Supercarrier and scrub just the guitar track of that piece? Perhaps the devs have access to the tracks for that music. It would be easy to record a take with the guitar track turned off. The guitar is way too cheesy for the rest of the music otherwise the piece is quite good. The cheesy porn-guitar sound ruins it. I think the artist must have been told to make it reminiscent of Top Gun movie or something. If they could send me the raw file I could edit it myself in my DAW. Болшои спасиба, мои друг! Over and out: Quack, quack!
  9. I second the motion. I think there should be a way to adjust the carrier landing lights. Sometimes they are real hard to see.
  10. Do you mean that we should go to the DCS folder in Saved Games and copy it onto another hard drive, external or Flash or something?
  11. Update here:EDIT: I decided it sucks. It's just not stable enough and I prefer not using it at all to fly with. I have been working with this little program called "AITrack" which is free. The good thing about it is that it does as I was asking for. It uses your built-in camera or an external camera. So, there is no contraption on my head and no cable to plug in. You can see a demo here and find the links to download it with instructions on how to install. It uses OpenTrack and the software AITrack. It was quite simple to download and install. I've spent quite a bit of time mapping in OpenTrack. It's still not perfect and I am not done figuring out what does what and tweaking. But it works on low lighting and with glasses and there is no camera to fall off and nothing on my head. Since I have never used a head tracking device before I have nothing to compare this thing to. I'd be interested to know how you would rate it compared to what you use, if anyone wants to try this thing. AITrack is a 6-Degree of Freedom headtracker designed to work alongside Opentrack for its use in simulators/games. AITrack uses its own tracking pipeline (based on neural networks) to estimate the user's head position with respect to the webcam and then, streams it to Opentrack, which in turn, transmits it to your games. Some videos of people using AITrack https://github.com/AIRLegend/aitrack/wiki/Videos You can start here and get it: https://github.com/AIRLegend/aitrack I found it while reading some Russian guy's comments at Steam under ViewTracker He gave ViewTracker a thumbs down and suggested AITrack instead. The Link at Steam for ViewTracker: https://store.steampowered.com/app/929270/ViewTracker/ Good luck!
  12. Please go back to the old format! ...Oh and btw ......where should We post interesting videos on historical planes and pilots?
  13. The guy who makes the UTC MKII has quit making them. Said he was too busy with his day-job for the time being. Otherwise I think he makes the most accurate and sturdiest tracker.
  14. It's looking like the best option if I can find a way to mount a phone directed at my face in a cradle on the laptop between the top of the keyboard and the bottom of the screen. Just have to keep the phone plugged in to the charger as well.
  15. Well.....it's a laptop. It moves. That's part of a laptop's job. That's not going to change. So whatever needs to be mounted to it needs to be clamped in place firmly.... AND ........... those clamps need to be out of the way of the screen and not cover any portion of it. and I am fairly certain that the legs on the trackir mount are too long and will hang over the screen. Unless the mount is jimmy-rigged in some fashion. An unknown fashion. Unless there is someone out there who has spent the money on this product and has done this jimmy-rigging successfully. I've never had my hands of a TrackIR so I can't say. The PS3 is in the same category. An Unknown. There is a clamp available for the PS3 but I don't know if it clamps tight enough to be of use either. There may be a way to Velcro these cameras into place. And this is why this topic was started. It seems to me that the principle of this technology should already be outdated given the speed which technology is advancing.
  16. It's not the best if it doesn't fit on my screen without falling off. It's not made for a laptop.
  17. From the reviews I read on Tobii and DCS some people are having problems. Suck as zooming in and out. Maybe its only 3DF ? I saw another video and it seemed that looking back behind you was slow. That's something that you just can't have in DCS. You have to be able to sweep back and see quickly! At this point in development and at the cost of around $300 or more all told and depending on where one is, I'd say it would be a gamble to purchase.
  18. Is there a direct link to this update? ..... EDIT: Nevermind I found an updater exe in the DCS World folder!
  19. I think we have established why TrackIR is so ridiculously overpriced. They want us to pay for their lawyers.
  20. Did you just use "conspiracy theory"? ....You just lost all credibility. Go stand in the corner.
