What is the correct communication procedure with ATC when landing? A couple of times after landing on the carrier ATC and Ground Crew refuse to acknowledge that I want refueling & arming or to use the cat. .....and the crew won't even hook me up to the cat. So I have to drive to the back of the boat and begin takeoff from there without the cat..... and usually run over a few yellow-shirts while doing it. And sometimes it refuses to grade my landing because I didn't like the comms I used, it tells me. However, it doesn't seem to me that I use the comms any different each time.

Disobedient wingmen?....Yeah...Tell me about it. They don't listen to me sometimes either. I order them back to base with me and there is often one who won't rejoin formation because he refuses to break off his attack on bandits. Once, on final approach to the carrier, a wingman jumped right in front of me attempting to land before me. I kept holding approach right behind him anyway until what seems like 150 yards from the deck, when he quickly pulled a left turn and broke off. Fun times with wingmen............. Sounds like pilot porn!

I couldn't get the main menu music to change either.

Thanks! .....Yeah I just saw that Stable is released. All this commotion on the forum about "should I or shouldn't I DL Open Beta to get the Supercarrier" was just made a moot point!

What is the correct procedure here when restarting a download? Delete those files? Or leave them?....btw these are F18 mod files. Will the current download use those files and make the download faster or will those files just be in the way? The reason I ask is because the last time I didn't delete them when this happened, I coincidentally, had to run a repair to DCS afterwards.

Thanks. .....Jeez...how big is Open Beta? I assumed it was about 20 - 30 GB altogether.....but it must be more like 75 or 100 now. If downloading 40-50GB is "saving space" on ones hard drive. No wonder it is taking forever, maybe 26 hours by the look of it, to update and install the Super Carrier on my other PC. I haven't used that PC for DCS on over a year and it may not be fast enough to run DCS anymore. I don't think SkateZilla's utility will work for me with my limited tech skills, either. Guess I'll just wait for the Stable Version to get an update.

Let me make this simple. The question is, "Does the SkateZilla utility turn, an already downloaded and installed, DCS Stable Version into the DCS Open Beta version without one having to FIRST, or ever, download the DCS Open Beta version onto ones PC?"

Thanks! .....But someone was just mentioning on another thread that the file size of this program is about 40 GB ...does that sound right? Or did I get that wrong.

Oh...is THAT what the deal is?...gotta DL Open Beta all over again just to get the new carrier?....... I was wondering why it looks like it will take well over 24 hours to download the Super Carrier and a couple of other mods ordered. I'm currently downloading the file onto my old PC which already had DCS Open Beta on it, just to see the carrier. I don't fly the Open Beta on that PC anymore usually because my new PC has slightly better specs. I fly the Stable Version on it. I may as well just cancel the download and forget about it.....just wait till they update the Stable Version. The download is so slow ...I ain't gonna wait another 12 or 15 hours with this crappy connection tonight. I got carriers I can land on already anyway.

What? Are you saying that the, DCS Updater GUI / Launcher Utility is about 40 GB to download?

Actually it's not. It is not clearly stated in the first post or by any of these recent posts here that you can download and install only DCS Stable on ones PC...and that this piece of software in question, will magically transform it into DCS Open Beta. And that is what the question was about. The term "Switching between builds" does not answer that question. Because one could have already downloaded both Open Beta and the Stable Version onto their machine. Furthermore, the guy orating that video is either barely speaking proper English and obviously did not attend any elocution classes or he is talking in technical terms assuming that his listeners are tech savvy....usually both!

I watched that video as best I could. It didn't really explain that it actually does what you said it does. If it did, I couldn't make head from tails out of it. Since I can't understand the instructions on the vid ...do you think the program is easy enough to figure out just by tinkering around with it?

Good questions. Wish I knew the answers. If it does what you think it may do then I would download it too. The video on the first page mentioned doesn't make much sense if you don't know what the program is for and it is so horribly narrated. The video has 7700 & something views but not one "like". It needs to be redone. Until then I guess we'll have to wait for someone with patience to come along who will explain what it is for.

I'd like to know the answer to that too! Are you saying that you can't stop a download in progress and restart it again later? Like if there was an interruption in the internet signal all the data downloaded would be lost? That would suck because I have been downloading the Super-carrier and a couple of modules now for 12 hours and it's barely halfway done and the internet drops a lot around here.

Does this work in the DCS stable version? Also, does it work in conjunction with ReShader or does Reshader have to be uninstalled?

So Burt, can you tell me how big the Open Beta file was? I may do the same as you, since I bought the Super Carrier and have the F16 too.

Grim Reaper videos are always informative in some fashion. Complaining about GR videos is not informative. Information is good no matter where and how it is delivered. For instance, if I had more information I would have known that when I bought the Super Carrier some weeks or months ago I would have known that it was not available to me for download immediately and won't likely be available to me for many more months, I have to assume, because I don't and won't be running Open Beta. I came to this thread for information on this but instead found that the thread had de-evolved into some sort of GR bashing.

Now the A-10C is the error for me. I got the message from DCS that the A10 was available for a free trial but it doesn't show on any mission after downloading and I get asked for an activation number.

No, it's true. I had the same problem with the F16 and a number of other aircraft. There is something funky about the throttle. I usually have clear it and remap it once when I first get a new aircraft. I'm not certain what's going on.

Well, well......I didn't even know there was a Super Carrier. I just found out about it when I saw this sale going on. So I bought the F16, Persian Gulf and I threw in the SC for good measure. Then I came to this forum here looking for info on why the SC is not showing up in game. The silly cuckoo I am didn't know I was supposed to wait even for one day...let alone 3 weeks! Quack, quack!

Well...I wasn't planning on buying anything for quite some time because I only purchased the F-18 and Nevada a couple of weeks ago and am still learning it. But I just noticed the free week-end and sale so I DL the F-16 to try out and really like it. There maybe a problem though or maybe it's just me. I'm having a problem mapping some of the flight controls to my ThrustMaster for some reason. The sale is good so I'll probably just buy it AND the Persian Gulf map. What the hell!
