  1. Nearly 5 years later and you just helped me to recover a few hours of progress making a MOOSE mission. Thanks
  2. The moon crossing the sun should have cancelled out the glare like in real life. Changing the settings is not how it should be done.
  3. I tried to recreate today's annular eclipse on the Nevada map and found that the sun and moon graphic in the ME shows the correct positions, however there was no actual eclipse when I started the mission. I tried various times but no luck. I have successfully recreated lunar eclipses.
  4. Hi flycats2, thanks for dropping by. To answer your first question, we do not address by rank or any kind of honorific unless you want to. We do however have a rank system that represents the role members have within our organization such as squadron leaders or various support roles such as media, recruitment etc. Rank also determines how long you have been with the organization. Military sim from our definition is trying to fly to the best of our ability and not like were playing Ace Combat. Secondly, having every new member fly the T-45 is a way of determining if a person IS proficient at flying in DCS and also to make it a level playing field for everyone coming in as we do not want to play favourites and give a pass on our training requirements. The core members of the organization are all experienced DCS players and we all are currently flying the T-45 qualification course. The founder has a PPL and we also have a former USMC Harrier pilot doing the quals. (we've had guys come in saying they are real life pilots but cant read charts or fly patterns at the airfield, even after being taught how to do it). In regards to events and training, we are currently in the training phase, so we do training flights and public server flights on Saturdays and we get together during the week when our schedules align. Some have more time to fly than others and I am based in Ireland and the rest in the US, therefore I myself cannot fly with them as much as I'd like. For now. So if your still interested go ahead and apply on our website or if I have raised further questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer. Cal.
  5. CJTF47 is currently recruiting for pilots to join our ranks. We are a Military Simulation (MILSIM) group. The group consists of a Carrier Air Group, Marine Expeditionary Unit, Air Wing, and NATO (In the future). Pilots will be given the opportunity to choose a Primary and Secondary aircraft to fly. The following aircraft are available: MEU: AV-8B, UH-1H, MI-8, KC-130, *HH-60L, *AH-64D CVW: F/A-18D, F-14 (Pilot/RIO), MI-8, UH-1H *HH-60L Air Wing: A-10C, F-16, * Denotes possible future integration Initial training is “MANDATORY”. All pilots will complete initial training in the T-45 GOSHAWK or C101EB on our Nevada training server. Pilots will be issued a Flight logbook and required to log training flight hours. In addition, the training server will record hours flown. Initial training will cover 11 topics (100 codes). Pilot Candidates are giving 60 days to complete 30 hours of training (10 hrs. instructed, 20 hrs. solo practice). Once these milestones have been achieved, you’ll be eligible for a check ride. The check ride will test your knowledge of the 11 topics. The requirements for the 100 Codes may sound daunting but to break it down in a logical way, if you dedicate 5 hrs. a week (1hr a day Mon-Fri), you can achieve the required time in 6 weeks. This is quite achievable, however to offset any unexpected lack of flying, we allot 8 weeks for completion. After completion of the check ride, helicopter pilots will begin helicopter training in the UH-1H (Used as a Basic trainer). All Carrier based pilots will begin advance training (200 codes) covering 9 topics related to Carrier Operation. The check ride will consist of having the knowledge and being able to demonstrate the procedures for entering and exiting the holding stack, Case I departures, Case I/III recoveries, entering and exiting the Marshall Stack, and basic LSO calls. Once 200 codes or helicopter training is complete, you will then move to your Primary aircraft and began applying all the knowledge you’ve learned thus far. You’ll then be assigned to either the MEU, CVW, or NATO Air Wing depending on your primary aircraft selection. Training is continuance between missions in order to become very familiar with your primary aircraft in order to fly and employ it effectively in battle. In addition, it will be equally important to learn the capabilities of enemy aircraft and ground threats. The finer details of this phase are still being developed. All time zones are welcomed, however most active members operate around US Central and Mountain time. We would like to eventually have a global community with members operating in as many time zones as possible. The ultimate goal of this group is to cultivate esprit de corps, test our skills in both missions and future competitions. Steel sharpens Steel and the members of this group both enjoy and have a strong passion for Combat Aviation. It’s that same passion which brings everyone from all different walks of life to DCS. We want to fly challenging missions with as much realism as possible while having fun doing it. In life, we tend to appreciate things more when it’s built upon hard work and dedication. Training may require some time, dedication, and maybe even a little bit of humble pie, but if you’re up for the challenge, please follow the link below. If time does not permit at this time come fly on our public server. Thank you for your time. Regards, Cal https://headquarters47.com/ and click apply to join.
  6. We have a CVW/MEU group run by a Marine and a Navy vet with with a couple other vets also. We are looking for a Harrier guy. Check us out and fill out an application if you are interested.
  7. Navy and Marines is what we do. Check us out if you haven't already found a group
  8. Hey man, I'm having trouble binding my switches on the panel. Did you have any issues? Any links or tutorials? I have no experience with this stuff
  9. I searched for this issue but cant find a similar thread After 2.5.6, I had a lot of trouble refueling. I found that I can connect and take fuel but if I lose connection, I could not take fuel. I tried for an hour and found that after disconnect, you have to close and reopen the fuel intake door in order to take fuel again. This has to be done after every disconnect.
  10. Thanks, will try tomorrow. It as basically a lone harrier in the editor fooling around.
  11. Hi, just jumped back in the harrier after a couple months and practiced cold start. When selecting the DATA page on the ESHD, DCS immediately crashes to desktop. There is no text box, its almost as if you just ended the program EDIT: Issue is specifically with cold start and I have INS pre-aligned in special options
  12. That made a difference for me. Good job. Only issue I had was the final training mission had no voice-over. Was somewhat distracting trying to read instructions while doing the work in the cockpit. Overall though they were great.
  13. Yep and maybe it would bring a bigger focus on supporting ground operations as a whole on servers.
  14. I think it would be excellent to see this in DCS. Considering it embarks assets from the Navy, Royal Marines, RAF and Army, it would be a worthwhile addition and brilliant for a variety of scenarios. Not to mention the fact that it has two islands, which is very cool
