There have been a number of questions about how to program the CDU with a waypoint that a JTAC calls in and has not been datalinked to you. Hopefully this video helps and is not too confusing. Original video has been updated with 720p and voice over narration. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKDIQWZIHmo

Nice vid! Someone needs to tighten down the mounting bracket screws for that HUD camera though...

You have to program it via the HOTAS commands.

Got the coordinates figured out. The trick is changing the dial to Mission on AAP and setting appropriate waypoint. Anyone have a good track they could post for this mission? There are a few tasks that I'm wondering how others are accomplishing.

Makes perfect sense, thanks. I'll definitely give it a try. I guess what I really want to know is... what is the best way to find the coordinates referenced in this mission? Do you guys add the waypoint to the flight plan, or is there a better way to accomplish the task (i.e. find the referenced point in order to complete the mission)? Thanks! Jeff

Thanks, I'll keep working on it.

Hey guys, so first let me thank Geskes for creating a realistic mission. Really enjoy watching the events unfold. I'm struggling with one thing though (for now anyways)... What is the most efficient way to locate the coordinates called in by Romeo for the IED attack. I've gotten pretty good at weapons employment and pod utilization, but I'm not so great at getting around the CDU. Any help is greatly appreciated! (for reference, the coordinates are CL30321242) Ideally I'd like to add these as at least a hookable point that i can set as SPI.

Yup, posted this in the beta forum a few weeks ago... Apparently, it snows underwater too

Now all we need is a vid of the KA-50 doing this:

"Thanks I can get through there?... " "Nope." One of my favorite vids... -
Excited to try it, thanks!!

+1 I think you've nailed it.

A similar use I was toying around with is when the JTAC gives you the 9 line, you could create a separate flight plan with IP, target location, and EP. It may give you better situational awareness, and you still maintain your original, unmodified flight plan. Any thoughts?

Can you give some more detail on how you accomplish this?

Assuming the SADL switch is on, you have to get to the point of reading back the JTAC briefing. Once you do, he says he's transmitting and it should show up on your TAD and flashing "Message" in the HUD.

Any idea if you can hear or "feel" the bombs come off the rack? It would be awesome to have some indication that release has occurred to better time our break and avoid hung stores. I usually watch for the fall time counter to start, but just curious to know how it's really done.

Locating targets tasked by JTAC

Ahh, got it. So the IP issued by the JTAC shouldn't come as a surprise? -

Thanks Matt for the great video. Question re IP... in this mission the IP is FORDD. Do you simply add it as a waypoint or is it datalinked as well? I noticed an X over the ground in the HUD, but I couldn't find an explanation in the manual....is it related? -

I can play it, but, if I go to mission editor, I get all sorts of errors I have to squash. -

Silly question, but I did look through the manual and forums... From the mission editor, how do we add the JTAC when creating a custom mission? -
I'll seed the torrent overnight (US) tonight with unlimited upload constraints. Enjoy!

As stated, it's an early beta. It has most features in place, but you definitely will see bugs as well as instabilities. As reported above, I'm seeing lower frame rates that BS, but I haven't done too much tweaking, and the code has apparently not yet been optimized. My advice is, if you are uncomfortable or have never been through a beta, then hold onto your cash, download the manual, and start studying up.....there is a ton to learn! If your expectations are appropriately set, then you will be satisfied.

I currently use the TM T16000M joystick that uses the hall sensors. I've had it about a year, and the stick is hands down the best "cheap" stick on the market. The sensors are super accurate, spring is stiff, and centering is perfect every time.
