  1. Great topic! I am currently reading "Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War". A must read for any hog driver. (Oddly I don't have the hog yet?) Even though the Gulf war from a historical viewpoint was a quick "easy"win. Leading up to and fighting for those first few weeks was anything but easy. The author paints a picture of what a modern air war would (did) look like. Lots of unknowns. Lots and lots of AAA, scared of migs, long 8-10 hr missions. Hell the flight over from the states in the opening chapters had me about wetting my pants! And Red Storm Rising was awesome as well. Just more bigger :)
  2. I don’t even have time to figure out my warbirds so I have always ignored these nonmilitary modules. But Wow! This is looking nice and would actually be a dream come true for me. I have built and flown a lot of these as RC planes and have really fell in love with the Extra’s and even the Edge 540’s. Looking forward to even more screens and info.
  3. I am still learning these missile thingys. They are a lot harder to master than they first appear. Coming from the WWII flight sim world this is perhaps the most frustrating part of DCS. On the other hand I am killing it with the guns in this thing. :joystick: I have only really done the training missions and the instant action missions. I was wondering is there a way to turn up the difficulty of the AI in the Guns, Guns, Guns mission? Or do I need to make my own missions for that?
  4. I agree 100%. I am a brand new DCS user and the Mirage was my first purchase. Still learning the ropes, but I am having a ball with it. The newest updated added some much needed gun sounds and nice new vapes. I blacked out and splattered myself across the desert checking those vapes out last night:music_whistling: Too much fun. I have the Hornet on Pre-order and I am almost kicking myself for that because I don't want to leave the M2000 until I have it all figured out. I might just leave the Hornet in my shopping cart for a while longer?
  5. You should be hyped. It is really a great experience. It just takes a little bit to get used to. There are bunch of tutorials on youtube to help you out. But the biggest thing is to make sure there is no major light spillage onto the sensor. For instance where mine is currently setup in my office which is joined by the kitchen. When ever someone opens the fridge my tracking goes crazy :pilotfly: Just something to think about.
  6. I have had the T16000m for over a year now and just added the throttle system (buy them together to save some coin). I can only tell you that it works great for me. I haven't' used the other HOTAS systems. I am almost done setting up the mirage and haven't ran out of buttons yet if that is any help. And I don't have any control issues like I have had with other sticks (saitek Cyborgs/ fly 5).
  7. No gun sounds, external or internal since 2.5.1
  8. you have to turn it on first:lol:
  9. As a fan boy myself, I can assume it wont be overly complicated. Probably dead simple. BUT it will be priced on the high end and probably have a proprietary connector and wont be compatible with anything mainstream. Love them but hate them.:helpsmilie: But this can only be good news for long run no matter. Competition is good.
  10. I've always been a prop kind of guy too. The ones on the front not the top. This is my first jet sim since Falcon 4, how many decades ago was that? Loving it. I am killing it in the Guns, Guns, Guns instant action. As close to WWII on steroids as you can get. Learning lots of stuff. 1) I almost prefer a fixed gun sight. driving the target reticle is not at all natural. Not yet anyway. 2) Burst mode waste way too much ammo. Putting it on full auto and having trigger discipline is much more economical. 3) Mig 23's can take some damage. 4) Mig 29's can't :smartass:
  11. I am really looking forward to the Red Flag campaign! I managed two kills last night. One was blue on blue, but he bailed out so I don't feel so bad. It was just a quick mission I made to practice radar, I ended up using my wingman as target practice for the cannon. He will forgive me, in time. The other was a radar missile kill of a mig 29. So satisfying. His wingman killed me a second later tho. Yes, I'm having fun:joystick:
  12. Yep, I chose the Mirage. For no other reason than the fleshed out campaign. I however have been so busy with work that I don't even have my HOTAS set up yet for it. I'm about 75% there I think. So far, just a few training missions and free flights to get things set up, I am loving it.
  13. Thanks for all the feedback. I finished up work late last night and got drunk. I let the whisky pick. It choose the M2000-C:pilotfly: I can assure you the Harrier will be on the short list. So far, just sitting in the pit, setting up all the buttons, I am very happy with my choice.
  14. Oh wow! Harrier is ahead 34 to 24! I wonder if we can gets odds in Vegas?
  15. Philadelphia experiment?
  16. Awesome information and thoughts. Just what I was looking for. I like AA and AG almost equally, and have always had a love for the Mirage AND the Harrier, hence the reason for this thread :) I think I am leaning towards the M2000 only because of the campaign and the Upcoming Red Flag sounds amazing. I'm going to let this all marinate and hopefully pull the trigger on one of these soon. I can always come back and get the other later on. Its not like its final, final, right. Thanks guys
  17. See, this is great info!
  18. I am new to DCS but not flight sims, and I was all set to get the M-2000C as my first "real" module. But now I have started thinking about the Harrier. I have read all the threads, watched all the youtube and I can’t decide. I can only get one. So for all of you who have both, which one is your favorite? Thanks :pilotfly::pilotfly:
  19. Good info. Thanks guys. I am sure I will get a chance to practice this tonight :)
  20. First post! I'm new to DCS and just getting my feet wet with the frogfoot. I am surprised to say I am really enjoying this aircraft, was not sure that would happen. My question is, is there any fire suppression on the frogfoot? I always seem to be on fire:cry: Sometimes I almost make it back for an emergency landing before the fuel tanks explode, but most times I don’t. Do we have fire extinguishers modeled in this module? Any advice. Also I am trying to complete the very first mission in the campaign. Any advice here? I can usually take out a few tanks just past waypoint 3 but I almost never make to the recon area between waypoint 5,6. Read my first question above :helpsmilie: Thanks
