  2. Sure, we ALL saw the Viper. But you wont be flying it for MONTHS! So relax.
  3. Just when I thought I would enjoy some DAYTIME dogfighting, ED plops some FREAKING STARS in the sky for the bandit to get lost in. SERIOUSLY ED????? Why do you guys insist on making everything a pain in the ass? I appreciate all of the hard work but, c'mon guys, give us a break.
  4. I’ve also noticed, when your wingman is totally defensive, he doesn’t call you for help. He just follows you around hoping you’ll notice.
  5. Thanks a lot! Some of these user missions are GREAT! Now, How do I upload my own creations?
  6. Hey guys, So I'd like to download and play missions / campaigns created by other users, but I'm certainly not a "computer guy". This is how dumb I am: I clicked the Download button, opened DCS and expected the new mission to be there. Clearly I've missed a few steps. After you're done laughing, can you please help me download and play some user content? Thanks!
  7. Mine is doing it also. After the last update, the AI carrier takeoffs started bugging. Off of cats 1 and 2, they leave the deck, disappear, then re-appear on the port side of the boat and continue to climb out. Cats 3 and 4 won’t even launch. I found that out the hard way during a Case 3 recovery! I wish the LSO calls were squared away.
  8. IRONHAND Wow. Impressive. Thanks to everyone for your input. “God’s G, the little bit at the top” Nice!
  9. Hey guys, Is it just me, or does anyone else find it hard to pick up speed (quickly) when the nose is pointed straight down, and the jet is in full burner? I've heard ACM instructors call "altitude for energy", using "God's G". I would expect even the little F5 to regain that valuable cornering energy quickly when pointed at the ground in full burner. But here sadly, God's G isn't much help. OR maybe I just suck. Anyhow, I'm interested to know what you think. Fly fast and take chances! Cheers.
  10. It is with great humility when I say, I stand corrected. This is my first experience with Track IR and obviously the older games did not have/use it. Hmmm...I guess I want the best of both worlds. Thanks for not thrashing me to bits (you certainly could've). Cheers mate.
  11. You're wrong sir. The only thing locked in the HUD when caged is the flightpath marker (a ghost marker is provided for your true flightpath). Everything else moves.
  12. I agree with these guys. Time spent practicing is the only thing that will get you there (along with a decent HOTAS because a keyboard ain't gonna cut it). A HUGE factor is knowing EXACTLY what the speed of the tanker is. Unfortunately, the tanker does not give you this information when you ask permission to join (and it should) and the exact speed of the tanker (at this time) does not match the speed you assign it in the mission editor. You're going to have to figure that out once you get in close and take notes. Once you do that, tanking in the F18 will become quite simple...even when the tanker goes into a turn! Have fun!
  13. Check out this thread. Cheers. Refueling Boom Light?
  14. I come from the 1990’s combat flight sims (I.e. Janes F18, F15, and EF2000). When I first started playing DCS, I found this “HUD info drift” HUGELY annoying. Obviously the earlier sims did not model wind effect on the HUD and that was fine with me. Especially in a dogfight. Because constantly having to sacrifice my maneuver or moving my head around so that I can see what my speed and altitude is, is well...annoying. Or maybe, I just suck. Anyway I wish you could lock the entire HUD for all of the modules , because all this realism can sometimes get in the way of just plain old fun.
  15. LMAO. I actually considered that! Too funny.
  16. Hey y'all, Doesn't the Hornet have a light on the refueling boom? I tried to hook up with the tanker (S3) on a no moon night, got ready to pre-contact, and I couldn't see a thing! The tanker itself had position lights but they are very dim. I suppose I could just crank up the NVGs, but still, a boom light would be cool. Cheers and...FLY NAVY!
  17. Frederf WOW! That worked!!! This community is awesome!!! Thanks SO much for your help. I am not a programmer and I am TERRIFIED of messing with the files and stuff so I dare not tinker with them if I don't know what I'm doing. I opened the program this morning, the boxes in the "ALL" menu were still muted, I closed the program, opened the INPUTS folder under HORNET, and dragged the KEYBOARD file onto my desktop then re-started the game...and BAM! The muted boxes were gone! (Some other boxes were had the same muted condition, but I don't use them.) I flew my F18 A2A training mission and I can now slew my TDC and lock targets as advertised. Side Note: When I Alt + Tab to check the INPUTS folder, the KEYBOARD file had been "magically" replaced. That was SIERRA HOTEL advice Frederf!!! Kick ass!!!
  18. RAZ+R Yes sir. I'm using the "Throttle Designate Control" (whatever that means) and the master arm is on. They are the only Grey boxes in the setup menu. In flight, my system does not recognize the inputs. Thanks for the reply tho.
  19. Totally cool. Great info here.
  20. Re: FA/18 Hornet So I've found the controls to slew the TDC and I am trying to bind them to my Warthog HOTAS, however, the boxes are "Grey" and the TDC will not slew in flight. Only the UP control works. My Flare dispenser seems to have quit working and that bloc is muted as well. Thanks for reading. Cheers.
  21. How do you set TACAN code for the carrier? Hey guys, 1. So I’m in the hornet (go figure) and I’ve created a carrier qual mission. On startup my MPCD never “sees” the carrier in tacan (even tho the default should be 1X). Frustrating. I’ve been eyeballing all of my approaches and I’m pretty sure the real pilots don’t do it that way. Where can I find a list of tacan codes AND/OR make my own in the mission builder? 2. Sometimes after a trap, when I taxi back to the shuttle and drop the launch bar in it, press U, then go to burner, homeboy in the “bubble” takes a break and refuses to push the button. What gives? “Talk to me Goose...”
