  1. Looks like the inlet guide vanes are variable also in addition to the four inside the compressor.
  2. Yes, I believe it does. I believe this skin is too silvery on the default skin, On most US aircraft this material would most likely be Iconel or Monel which are forms of corrosion resistant steel. This metal when subjected to heat and the enviornment normally ages to a dark redish brown.
  3. This is the file for the exhaust outlet. KA-50_EWU-PAINT.BMP can be found in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Bazar\World\WorldTexturesBMP3.cdds
  4. Look in Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Bazar\World\WorldTexturesBMP3.cdds
  5. Also when I downloaded the templates from ED and opened in photoshop some of the layer sets were closed. New skinners should be aware of this and use the drop down curtain arrow to open all the individual layer sets so they can see what all is in them. Just a thought.
  6. These small-small yellow marks (most visible) and other ones. It's just non-common for NATO helis. (Of course I can be wrong.) And they are located in one layer. So can be turned off with one mouse click Some that mark the latches and such I just desaturated others that are Russian specific I turned those layers off. You are right most NATO and US birds are marked in non-specular black. Also the overall specularity makes the paint appear to be semi-gloss, It would be nice to lessen this effect so the paint would appear to be flat.
  7. I need some feedback Fly a little, skin a little

    Congos WIP

One of several Im working on.
  9. Im running a single core 3.2 overclocked to 4.0. When I,m playing off line I turn off all services before starting the sim. OS is XP and it runs smooth as silk. Memory is PC-6400 (Mushkin). I have not tried OCing that yet but it is on my to do list. My motherboard also provides for variations in the PCIE bus so I'll probably do some experimentation there also. I am running a Zalman heatpipe cooler on the old Prescott but it seems to be really stable at 4.0. Below 50C with the fan set on high. Video card is EVGA 9800GT overclocked to 650 and 950 with the fan running at 60. I have never checked fps I just go by what looks smooth to the eye. Tried runing PCIE and memory up but the system didn't seem to like that.
  10. Go to the services feature in control panel and see which services are running when you are doing normal computing. The ones that are started shoud be set to automatic leave with that setting and then stop service, they will restart when you reboot. If I am playing offline I normally disable the network in control panel and then shut down all services that I can. After playing I then reboot and everything is back where it should be. I also have my swap files set rather than let windows manage them and they are on a different drive than my os. OS is on C drive and paging is on D drive. Most antivirus ,firewall, and disk defragmenters shuch as Diskeeper use system resources and are not needed if you disable your network connection. As you highlight each service it will give you a brief discription of what it does. As I stated before if they are set to automatic and you get into trouble just reboot to start them again. Hope this helps.

  12. Vortexs explanation is right on the money, The three forces that the rudder is used to counteract in a fixed wing aircraft are adverse yaw, asymetrical thrust, and P-factor and to be able to slip the aircraft for crosswind landings. Look up the first three terms for an explanation. asymetrical thrust happens during climbout. P-factor on takeoff roll, adverse yaw during turn. Rudders do not turn aircraft, wings and lift turns the aircraft. Also in tailwheel type aircraft the rudders assist with gyroscopic precession when you first lift the tail.
  13. On the Blackshark they are actually torque rather than antitorque as they induce a torsional load about the yaw axis. The Blackshark may have an aerodynamic rudder for forward flight this I dont know but to yaw the nose while hovering they will induce torque about the yaw axis.
  14. On all aircraft whether they be fixed wing or rotary the pedals control the aircraft about its yaw axis. right pedal yaw to the right. left pedal yaw to the left. On the ground they are generally connected to the nose wheel steering mechanism for taxi and placement unless the aircraft has a castering nose wheel which in this case you use differential braking to steer the aircraft.
  15. I think a FAC aircraft would be neat as hell, OV-10 or Mohawk, Fly out and spot the enemy, radio their coordinates and wait for the heavys to arrive.
  16. I would like to see them do something retro, maybe a cheyenne the grand daddy of them all.
  17. I have started converting some of the many skins I did for SB Pro PE for use in BS. Give me some feedback as whether this is a worthwhile project. Thanks Congo
  18. Hotdognz, Go get a plate out of the cabinet and draw a bullseye in the center, now lay a flat piece of salami on the bullseye, take the plate with both hands and practice keeping the salami on the bullseye this is easy mode. Now do it with a marble instead of the piece of salami this is realistic mode. Hope this helps. Guaranteed any mode equates to fun and challenge.
  19. I've been around too long pressure doesn't work on me anyway.
  20. Yes, I would have to agree with that statement provided they have the specs to run it. I guess there can be some obstacles and hurdles but in the end its worth it.
  21. Its definitely a possibility. At some point I'll probably delve into the textural aspects of this sim. Spent my whole career in aviation so i can't leave the things alone either virtually or realistically. And yes the Armor sims also grab my fancy. I guess I'll have to investigate packing CDDS files and a few other things but like I said its definitely a future possibility, Heck! I gotta find something to keep me busy in retirement.
  22. Affirmative on that Jester. Zipuli and I did a fair amount of skins under the cz studios title. Working with skins can become somewhat addictive. I started cause I wasn't happy with a lot of the default skins.
  23. Enjoy is not nearly the proper word, let it be said that I got to go on autopilot quite often to clean the juice out of my pants, sproing!!!!!
  24. Listen Guys, Finally ironed out all the glitches and just wanted to appologize for taking my initial frustrations out on you, Told xp to recoginize my mouse as something other than a sidewinder and found the proper NewInput.DLL and the sim is running like a charm on my machine though I do have the vcard a tad overclocked. No more CTD,s Again Please accept my sincerest appologies. Almost forgot to add that BS is probably by far one of the most realistic simulators I've ever flown. Scenery both internal and external again some of the best if not the best. I was fortunate enough to fly the V-22 sim at Pax river back in the eighties and now Im thinking how antiquated that was compared to this! You have my vote for a Job well done and yes consider me a loyal customer. Congo
  25. Yes, That seemed to be one of them, I went into control panel and opened MS Intellipoint and ran my sidewinder as an Intellimouse optical and reverted back to the 178.24 Nvidia drivers and additionally downloaded another NewInput Dynamic Link Library file over at the freetrack site and it seems to have cured most of the problems. Be aware that I am using FT in 2DOF mode with the zoom view mapped to my POV switch on joystick, but yea I would try a different set of mouse drivers.
