Hi, I am looking for a tutorial\advice on the best way or ways to make new cockpit textures? It seems it would be extremely difficult to have decent photography of instruments etc and I'm wondering how I would go about detailing such items? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

A HELICOPTER has crashed on a roof of a bar in Glasgow
ddocg replied to BIGNEWY's topic in Military and Aviation
The roof of the pub was actually three roofs or rather after it became a single storey it had been re-roofed on two further occasions, this would maybe explain the initial bulge in the pub ceiling before the heli dropped through further? While the roads around the Clutha are busy at peak times, they would not have been busy at the time of the incident, also, across the road from the pub are two huge public car parks which would have been practically empty at that time of night. I don't believe the pilot intentionally set down on the roof, earliest eye witness accounts reported the craft as having no power and no noise. Like mr mojo, I work a few hundred metres away. Thoughts and prayers to all affected. -
How do I know how many activation's I have left?
ddocg replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You can login to your account at http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com then go to Personal Section>My Orders In the screen that opens, under Actions click on Details at the far right then, in the next screen at the bottom there will be the option to "Check Licence" click on this and you will be presented with a window detailing how many activations have been used and how many are remaining. Do this for each of your module purchases. HTH -
I took delivery last weekend of the following components: Intel Core i7 4770K i30 cooler Win 7 Pro 64bit Kingston ssdNOW V300 SATA III 240GB SSD ASUS Rad R9 290 ASUS Z87-K Corsair 16GB DDR3 Vengeance Jet Black 1600mhz Corsair AX860i PSU Thermaltake Chaser A71 Case Acer S271HL 27 inch monitor Using an existing mouse and keyboard with the above, I have to say I am impressed, I am hugely impressed with the difference to my previous system which was core 2 duo at 2.4ghz. Everything is fast(er) from power on, it takes less than 30 seconds to reach the desktop, previously this was measured in minutes While the system above is marginally more than your budget at $2600 the monitor is about $300 and Win 7 at $180 not buying these items gets it closer to your budget of $2000 Like yourself, I was unsure of what to buy as it had been six years since I last upgraded however, it was not too difficult finding out what worked with what. My preference is for ATI GPU's though, I don't think there is much of a difference between nVidia and ATI at these price points each is as good as the other. Whatever you do decide on, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised .

While it is limited in the dimensions of objects it can scan, I am expecting delivery of one of these any day now :yay: http://www.matterform.net/ though the downside is that 1:32 F/A-18 is half an inch too long for scanning! Dave

R9 290 vs GTX 680 Benchmark & Comparison
ddocg replied to Darkphox's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the info, I have just bought an R9 290 along with a new MB CPU RAM PSU and SSD. One thing I have read in reviews of the 290 is the cards tendency to be quite loud. Do you have any issues with fan noise levels under load? if so have you done anything to rectify? Kind regards Dave. -
Impressed Okay I appear to be making some progress :) I found this http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88164 Goto post #3 and download the VC++ 2010 redistributable - in my case the x64 version You should then open Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and check what VC++ 2010 versions you have installed > the version you download from above will be version 10.0.30319 anything other than this version will give you the 000007b error so make sure you only have 10.0.30319 installed. I had 10.0.40429 installed and had to remove it, in doing so I am now currently updating DCS World albeit slowly however I have not received any errors yet. Thanks and hope this helps someone Dave.

Hugely Unimpressed Title says it all really, I had DCSW working and now I find it won't even launch or update or repair for that matter. Like others I now receive the error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." Further I find there appears to be no solution to this problem or even a post from the developers in a prominent position acknowledging the problem far less any workaround. I was tempted to uninstall then reinstall however, I note that I can't even check what modules I have bought from DCS on their website as each time I try to log in I receive four options one of which is to check payments on my account however clicking the payments option I am taken to a page showing which modules are available to buy! I was caught out this way before when I had previously bought DCS BS however no record of that transaction existed on my account and I was effectively forced to buy it again after downloading DCSW. So, it seems I am left with ~$100 of software that has a mind of its own.

Hi, I have installed DCS World and unfortunately it is not running :(. My machine specs are Windows XP SP3 Now Upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64 Core 2 Duo @ 2.40Ghz 3GB Ram Now Upgraded to 8Gb ATI 5700 Video Card @ 1024MB Upon completion of installation of DCS World 1.2.2 I open the Desktop shortcut for single player and select Instant Action, I then choose SU25 on a ground attack mission at this point I am returned to my Desktop and a CMD window opens then closes, the mission never loads and I end up with a memory error message being that it is unable to read a certain address. I am at work right now and won't be able to confirm the error message until later when I return home. I'd appreciate comments and\or help as to where I might be going wrong. Many thanks Dave.

Crossfire cards will run two monitors in BS, however, if you have two crossfire cards installed you cannot switch crossfire mode on thus giving you no options to better improve AA etc. I have two 1950's both are plugged in and connected to each other, however, my second monitor is connected to the primary card as such the secondary card is passive, so, you would be better off with just one good crossfire card as both monitors connect to it. multi monitor picture request !
ddocg replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can position both, anywhere you like, however, for both it is still an aspect issue, the ABRIS IMO is not suited to a vertical split. Not sure if you can split just one monitor in a two monitor setup? as I understand it, the driver feature you speak of, stretches the desktop over two monitors, after which, you apply either horizontal or vertical split. I don't have NV but this is how it works on ATI, for me at least. Dave -
Read this thread, page 5 is where i started to pick it up  Edit: helps if i supply the link! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32630

multi monitor picture request !

Agreed about the sticky idea. @ in no particular order Acedy, Skooby, Maddog011, Koriel and Blacksharkace. Thanks guys, after following your posts, I now, finally have my two monitors working how I want - with the exception of having to swap the display mapping in CCC each time, even at boot the OS defaults to the smaller monitor hmmmm, however, I have it working and that's all that matters  dAVE -
multi monitor picture request !
ddocg replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've been messing around with trying to get my second monitor to play nice....not been having much luck! Okay, I have, as my main monitor a 22" with max resolution of 1680x1050. My secondary monitor which I want to show the SHKVAL and ARBIS on is a 15" with max res of 1366x768. I have tried editing the options.lua to show 3200x1200 in game, this is the max res that CCC reports when I stretch horizontally The following being the camera.lua I made from posts earlier in this thread Description = 'Shkval on the left monitor, camera on the right' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1680; height = 1050; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = screen.aspect / 2; } } Shkval = { x = 1680; y = 0; width = 1366; height = 400; } ABRIS = { x = 1680; y = 400; width = 1366; height = 624; } This is from the options.lua ["height"] = 1050, ["resolution"] = "3200x1200", ["civTraffic"] = 1, ["width"] = 1680, I have a mixture of problems the main one being that I can only seem to get the main cockpit showing on both monitors - not what I'm seeing in other posts. I would appreciate any/all advice as to where I'm going wrong. Thanks Dave -
Thanks for the quick replies. Groove, I changed the desktop to 1024x768 this got me in and working  And sorry no, there was no crash file, though I guess this is a good thing! Nate, when I got to the options page, I noticed the res was set at the next setting above what my monitor is capable of, maximum display of my monitor/card is 1680x1050 in game it was set at 1900x???? I have tried changing my sektop res back to 1680x1050 after I set this in game, still having problems, however, I can get it to run at 1024x768 so thats cool with me Again guys, thanks for the help. It's going to be a loooong learning curve ;) Dave

Just downloaded and installed the English version of BS. My problem is that whenever I run the desktop shortcut for BS, my screen goes blank for a couple of seconds then the monitor goes to sleep!!! I can hear what I presume to be the GUI music. I can only regain control by performing a reboot. This is as far as I have been able to get...still don't know where I have to insert the activation code! I am running XP SP2 on a Core 2 6600 @2.4 with 2 GB Ram and an X1950 of which I have updated to the latest driver being 8-12_xp32_dd_72271 Any help on this would be much appreciated. TIA Dave
