Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
WineCape replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
Question: Recently bought Tacview Advanced version 1.8.1. Nifty program indeed ! Now that version 1.8.2 is out, is it just a matter of installing the latter version in the same directory as the existing old v1.8.1 to update, or should I first uninstall version 1.8.1 and only then install the latest v1.8.2 ? Kind Regards -
Ola Chuck, If you are ever in South Africa (Cape Town area) drop me a message. I will entertain you for a few drinks/beer/wine for all your effort in doing this guide - and many others. Just awaiting for DCS to update/deliver most of the promised Hornet's functionality so that I can ring-bind your outstanding guide in a shiny, full colour A4-size manual for reference. Many thanks again mate. Keep up the excellent work!

Some questions. Obliged in advance to those that can colour me in, as follows: (1) As per search info, it seems the DCS Nevada Map is roughly 33GB in size? Correct? (2) I'm on an copper ADSL, roughly 3Mbps d/load internet line here [ I know - :( ]. Is there a way to stop/start this massive map download a-la uTorrent style if I buy Nevada -- and continue d'loading at another day/time? Or is there a torrent map file I can link to directly via uTorrent? Reason I ask; Our area have power utility outages of late, so no way I can plan a 36+ hour download period for the Nevada map without the liklihood of starting afresh. Every day. (3) Is there any Nevada Map updates this year that will make it even bigger/higher fidelity, or is it done for the most part? (4) Any ED price specials on the Nevada map coming up soon ? :music_whistling: Sincerely, WineCape

DCS last Update: Big problem !!!
WineCape replied to FistofZen's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Even by back-up profile settings wont work. Plus I also have the reddish box colour of a few control settings, and I now cant assign my speed brake on the F18 in this specific red outline control box. How do I fix it? Note: It's effecting mostly my Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle. I just HATE, absolutely H_A_T_E it when DCS overwrite at updates and no amount of backup control settings will populate your preferred joystick and throttle binds. This is not the first time. This is horrendously time consuming; try over 70 key-binds on my Virpil throttle alone! Now to labour again -- just to play for an hour or so -- to rebind all that keys, given the complexity of my specific peripherals and given ED's module control complexity itself..... Some programmer either did not think about this, dismissed it, or could not be bothered. FIXIT or DO SOMEFINK ! -
Hello SkateZilla, Firstly, thanks for a wonderful tool. Currently, I am using your version 1.30.2018 - and are happy doing so with this stable specific version. Of late, I've noticed that, under your tool's "Open Beta" installed tab, the "Installed Version" is being reported as 2.5.3.22176, while the "Latest Version" from DCS is being reported by your installer/updater tool as 2.5.3.21708, an older version in fact? How can that the latest reported DCS version is older? At best, the reported version could be equal to an installed version number. Is this an issue with your tool, or with DCS' servers?

Mine too. I bumbled aimlessly along in the Configurator Software and corrected my Virpil Throttle problem magically. Dont ask me to repeat the procedure, but re-plugging the USB-port of the Throttle into the PC was (part) of the solution ..... to unknot me from an octopus' tentacles that was multiplying in my mind by the hour ...

That did it for me too! As simple as that. Thanks mate.

Want to pick some brains here on the forum: I have : (1) VKB's GunFighter MCG-Pro w/brake lever; (2) VirPil's MongooseT-50 throttle (received their serial #000008(!) last week) (3) MFG's Crosswinds Pedals (another piece of classy workmanship by Milan) (4) obviously TrackIR5; (4) And for now, exclusively starting to sweat it it out in DCS's F/A-18C module Now, in-game the F/A-18 has a plethora of key bindings available. My question relates specifically to what essential key-bindings do gents use here, and find useful, for the VKB Stick/F-18 specifically, given that I have so far:- (a) the Brake lever assigned (==>wheel brakes) (b) the Pinkie push button (==>NSW engage) © the 2-stage Trigger (==>Fire/release, obviously) (d) and the Flip-up Trigger guard lever (==> Master Arm on/off) Any thoughts/ ideas appreciated, as to assigning the flightstick's:- (i) Thumb 5-way HAT; (ii) Circular Big (Rubber) POV scroll; (iii) Bottom Middle HAT (BM HAT); (iv) Top Middle HAT (TM HAT) (v) Side 5-way HAT; (vi) and the 3 buttons (1 Red and 2 grey's) .... Obliged in advance. Sincerely,

THIS. Halleluja. Currently, I have the Throttle with Configurator software in "SYNC" (Green) mode and dated as follows VID: 03EB PID: 2048 VPC-Throttle (VPC-JOY-180913) + Device PCB = VPC.CNT.V06. Now here's the problem: I have Win7Pro 64 bit PC by the way - and currently have only the VKB GunFighter II Stick as hardware with DCS' F/A-18 (in SIM mode) - and the VKB works fine. But I simply don't understand how to map Virpil's peripheral wrt its button presses in DCS as an added peripheral. I did manage to mapped all 6 Axis on the Virpil Throttle - and its working fine ingame and as per DCS OPTIONS CONTROL Menu, but not a single button ON the Throttle can be mapped (in DCS' CONTROLS screen that is) even though DCS sees/recognizes Virpil's throttle ingame. Heck, DCS' Controls menu wont even allow me to OPEN its scroll menu to ADD a button throttle press in the first place. Frankly, I am as confused as puke in a tumble drier and prolly have fouled up more then I should admit. So if somebody can show me HOW to MAP all those nifty toggles/buttons on my T-50 Throttle ( which by the way is a damn beautiful piece of hardware) to DCS, I might just offer to pay for their MARS passenger ticket in the near future. :helpsmilie:

Have MT-50 Throttle: Need Configurator Software Firmware update help
WineCape replied to WineCape's topic in VIRPIL Controls
And to boot, my Virpil MongoosT-50 Throttle, arrived yesterday, has a single digit Serial Number, being #8, and it says so too on the front with a silver tag on the base. One VERY hefty/weighty unit for sure, with beautiful bevelled/chamfered edges -- Cant remember the difference now.... No issues with the buttons/switches - and the gnarled 2-way throttle knobs fit my big hands very well, with all HAT/buttons/scroll wheel within easy finger reach. Woot !
