  1. Using the rudder right before or during the gun engagement usually gives me a lof of dust puffs all around the target AND a couple of miles behind too. Meanwhile I get my wing blown or something... Having to use the rudder means that my initial approach was poorly planned, for example I am trying to make a circle, aim and shoot within 1 mile radius.. It simply doesn't work like that. Planning is the core and proper executing is the rest - so get at least 2 miles between you and the target and try to engage between 1,5 and 1 mile. All the rest is ArmA style, which is not really appropriate in DCS... About the Vullcan question about rudder - well mate, once you have it, you will know what you were missing. Especially in DCS A-10.
  2. The benefit of spotting possible incoming threat can not equal the loss of FPS... I have them off and look around more often. :)
  3. With the HOTAS Warthog on my desk I can't help it mate.. My finger keeps going to the A-10 icon :)
  4. Everything said so far is true. The "Saitek" products (sorry to say that) put next to the THW look pathethic... I own X-52Pro, 2x Yoke and Throttles and the Pedals. Since the Thrustmaster arrived I sometimes catch myself just sitting and looking at it. It is a piece of art mate. The saiteks are back to the box. No more plastic... I just need to change the rudder pedals with something more solid now.....
  5. is A-10 capable of carying WMD?
  6. Here is mine Evergreen ladout: TGP ECM 4xAGM-65D to dust off possible air defences 4xGBU-38 for precision attack on armour or structures (I would love to use the GBU-12s but I can't make them hit precise enough yet...) Guns for light armour and utility vehicles...
  7. The system still crashes from time to time. Sure related to the GPU overheating. I keep the case open now but the GTX280 keeps on overheating to 83C. While running idle the t=60C. Either the GPU-Z is giving wrong t or the GTX280 is ready for retiring. Anyway, The strange thing I noticed is that when the GPU-Z program is running while I play, the A-10 never crashes (I really pic a pattern here). The temperatures soar high but the game keeps on running. The hardware wizards might give an opinion here about the GPU-Z
  8. Can anyone point out the better brand for purchasing GTX580? Since now most of my components are Gigabyte and I am happy, yet I read here and there that the eVGA card in maybe the top. Any suggestions?
  9. Guys thanks for the advice. This thought has been circling since yesterday but I guess I'm just too lazy :) Certainly will do that.
  10. I am using the temp readouts from Core Temp 0.99 and from the GPU-Z.. The CPU has water cooling, I have removed the side screen of the case yesterday. The temps before that were about 65-80.. Now the CPU runs at approx 45-70. The GTX280 on the other hand seem to have the pounding with temps soaring at about 75-80 during the game... I believe that beyond that is when my computer crashes with a very weird color carpet on my screen. Two points here - I guess I need a new case - the one I am using is full with stuff and seems that the air flow is not enough for the graphic card. The CPU adds to the whole heat up. Second point - I am definitely going for my Christmas gift - a GTX580. Anyone know what might be the best option? eVGA 580 Superclocked appears to be everyone choice...
  11. I know this has been discussed here and there however... I noticed something interesting. Recently I started getting quite frequent overheat crashes. They appear to be GTX280 related. To battle this I installed GPU-Z (i have CPU-Z as the system is slightly overclocked). What appeared to me is that during play with A-10 the actual load of the GPU is 100% while the 4 cores of my Intel i7 are rarely getting more than 50-70% load. So, I can't help but wonder, is the graphic card more important with the DCS A-10? I know with FSX it isn't.. It is not in a way with Black Shark too.. But how about A-10? Than will the new GTX580 help improve performance?
  12. Afganistan seems like the natural chouse of a new battle region for DCS sims.. The hot action is there right now and A-10Cs are filmed left, right and centre doing bad stuff to some bad guys..... On the other hand I would pick a tropical region too (someone named Cuba) just for the change, you know - holiday destination on a compat airplane :)
  13. Mmm.. Cuba.. How about a new map of the region and have some nice tropical DCS A-10 action?... Am I dreaming?..
  14. I manage to connect every time, getting better with more practice... But I can not hold for longer than few seconds either. And PITA that I can not ask the tanker for retry. I can't get him back on the radios after the first disconnect.
  15. Interesting video.... Throughout the refueling you are making quite drastic throttle changes. Obviously worked because you were connected and taking fuel. I just wondered if that might be the right technique.....
  16. Great reference! This is what I needed. Thanks!
  17. I could not find anything about the lights. There is short description how the process should flow (482-485)... Maybe I'm missing something?
  18. Can anyone give me idea where to find more information on the belly guiding light of the KC-135? They change wile I maneuver but I still can not figure where exactly should I place the A-10 to be in the best position. At the same time the boom is chasing me and the result is one big mess... Thanks...
  19. Sure hope it is a WIP. On the other hand I managed to play the first missions on the other 2 campaigns.
  20. Can't make the tanker to contact me back after the first refueling. I guess that is some sort of bug. The rest of the communications are working (AWACS)...
  21. Excellent review, I tottaly agree. Here's my 2 cents: Yes the throttle is big, that is why I like it. And everything is metal. And heavy, yet again that is why I like it. I actually love only looking at it. Because it is a piece of art IMO. So far the only little problem is the muscle fatique on my trigger fingers :) I might get muscle fatigue on the right hand too. I guess A-10 pilots are rough guys anyway. The only thing that really needs to be fixed is the slew control (microstick). It is way too sensitive, but I guess DCS will be fixing this for the A-10 simulation. Until then the slew control is taken over by the Microphone Switch.
  22. Well, here goes: Apparently these guys are very sensitive about the whole "terrorists" theme. As you might all know the region here is kind of a breeding place for those with Pakistan and Yemen being the battlegrounds. Actually just the other day Dubai customs seized a package from Yemen bound to USA with a plastic bomb rigged in a printer toner cassette. So imagine the atmosphere here while UAE is really pushing to be recognized as a safe country (and I must admit it is). So, here I come with my "U.S.Air Force" stamped, weighting 15 KGs package that looks so real that one would think that those are actual parts from a real airplane. Perhaps the customs decided that I try to smuggle a real A-10 in the country ;). Anyway, after almost an hour sitting with the Boss and trying to explain how "unreal" is the stick in therms of bombing anyone, he did not seem quite sure about the whole thing. Out of desperation I almost made a clown of myself and eventually succeeded to convince them to release the package. Now I am happy camper :pilotfly:. P.S. this stick is DCS A-10 plug and play (first time such an flawless compatibility). OMG, OMG....
  23. Just two lines about the TH Warthog: > next to it ALL other "joysticks" look pathetic. > worth every single penny.
  24. Gentleman, I finally go mine after harsh morning at the Dubai Customs. Now I sit and just look at this piece of jewelry... Can't believe it.. Just two lines about the TH Warthog: > next to it ALL other "joysticks" look pathetic. > worth every single penny.
  25. Heh? Mine was shipped on 25th from Belgium. SimWare guys totally rock!
