I've got a feeling an IPS panel would fix it, from what I've read anyway. I haven't tried it on 2.7 yet but I can't imagine it'll be any different. Somebody on here must have an IPS monitor to be able to confirm if the night environment is ok?

Still not sure the clouds and lighting etc are complimented on the Caucasus map. The vids of Syria and Channel look better...
-
Which preset is that?

8700k, 1080Ti, 32gb, 1440p monitor. No impact on FPS, holding 60fps as normal using RTSS. Slightly annoying re the aliasing on the horizon but ED are aware so I imagine that’ll be sorted within the next few patches hopefully.

If it’s colour banding then it’s definitely not a DCS issue. It’ll be the monitor. From what I’ve read anyway....
-
I think what we’re experiencing is something called colour banding. Google it and see if it looks like what you’re getting. Certainly in my case it looks extremely similar...

Didn’t seem to make any difference unfortunately mate. Just tested in the Viper set to 11pm and the whole environment just looks weird and blotchy. More so when you get airborne. I also tried turning the canopy reflections off but that didn’t do anything. it’s a strange issue for sure.

Aaah ok, will definitely give it a try. Thanks for that, I’ll report back....

I think a while ago I was doing a bit of research and ended up reading something about TN panels and dark image issues. So ever since then I’ve always thought it was the monitor. Maybe it isn’t after all. Unfortunately I don’t have any other games on my PC apart from DCS so I can’t compare. It may well be a DCS issue. If there’s anyone reading this who has a IPS panel monitor like an Acer Predator then it’d be interesting to hear what it’s like on theirs. I’ve tried every single setting on mine but no joy. Like you say, when it’s dark it looks horrid.
-
Me too, well longer to be fair, ever since I’ve had my monitor. Is yours an LED/TN panel or IPS? Mines the Asus ROG PG278-QR and it’s an LED/TN panel monitor. I’ve got a feeling it’s something to do with that and if I were to try an IPS panel monitor I don’t think I’d have the issue. I think anyway.... I can only fly up to early evening light, anything darker it’s a shambles and I’m sure it’s the monitor and not a DCS issue.
-
Which monitor do you have? I’m having this problem too....
-
To be fair it may even be fine if I set the refresh rate of the monitor back to 144hz or even 165hz but definitely turning G-Sync off and switching V-Sync on in game has made a hell of a difference. Also, I can’t notice any difference in game between 60hz and 165hz. It’s still very fluid and smooth.

Hi guys, I know this has been done to death regarding TrackIR stutters etc but I've been having a nightmare with it but I've sorted it. To help anyone out who's having issues, here's what's sorted it for me:- I was getting stutters, pauses, freezes, you name it. All this whilst FPS was good but locked at 60fps. 8700k @4.8ghz Strix 1080Ti 32gb RAM Asus PG278-QR 165hz 1440p monitor G-Sync TrackIR Pro Set monitor to 60hz Turn G-Sync off in the DCS profile in Nvidia Inspector Turn V-Sync on in Inspector (Fast Sync might be fine too but not tried it yet) Cap FPS to 60 using RTSS Also turned V-Sync on in game Thought I'd share it in case anyone else is pulling their hair out!

That’s great, thanks... I’ve checked and I have disabled the Windows 10 antivirus altogether...however, it seems to actually disable it properly it’s quite lengthy to do. So I’m beginning to wonder if it’s not completely disabled. I’ll reactivate it and add the DCS folders to the exclusion list and see if it sorts it....
-
I’m pretty sure I’ve disabled it...but I’ll check. Maybe even if it’s ‘disabled’ it may still be running somewhere in the background still? Probably clutching at straws with that one but anything’s worth a shot. Thanks.... which folders exactly do I add to the exclusion list?

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it.... My Windows drive is 500gb with only windows on it so there’s no end of space left so I’ll set it to 32gb. I’ve not got any antivirus at all installed on my PC so that’s not an issue. I’ve disabled a heck of a lot of Windows things so I’ll make sure Cortana and Onedrive are also disabled. The pagefile is the only thing left to try. If it doesn’t sort it it’s either DCS or my GPU (1080Ti) is at fault. I’ve tried all this:- Hotplug fix in config Total removal of GPU OC (MSI A/B) Removal of GPU driver using DDU Latest drivers installed G-Sync off/G-Sync on Nvidia Inspector, changed and tested most settings including Fast Sync etc etc V-sync in game on and off FPS capped to 60 as I use TrackIR instead of VR. Pauses/freezes/GPU lag happens when not using TrackIR also Checked Task Manager for any sign of another programme causing the issues but there’s nothing. All RGB software is also off Tried DCS repair several times I always delete FXO & Shaders2 folders Even set my GPU to run in MSI mode with a negative IRQ number Christ knows what’s causing it! If anyone has any other suggestions then I’m all ears! My PC is:- 8700k @ 4.8ghz Strix 1080Ti 32gb RAM @ 3600mhz Asus PG278-QR 1440p monitor TrackIR Apart from these sporadic freezes/lags it runs spot on, locked at 60fps all day long with high settings. Also lowering settings doesn’t help the lags & freezes.

Hi guys, I’ve got two SSD’s, one with Windows on and the other with DCS on and that’s it. I have 32gb of RAM and I have no pagefile set, it’s set to manage by Windows I think. I’m currently trying to eliminate some annoying freezes and slight pauses and the only thing left for me to try is setting a manual pagefile. Can someone tell me if A, I need one and B, what I should be setting it to for both drives please... Thanks...
-
I think I may have sorted it....I had my X52 stick and throttle plugged into a powered USB hub. Plugged it directly into the PC now and it seems fine. Fingers crossed.

I forgot to put that in the post to be fair but I've done that already, had that in the .cfg file for quite a while now. Although weirdly it does almost seem like it's that kind of issue...

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on this issue I'm having. It's nothing major but it's annoying. When I'm flying and perform a turn after a few seconds of straight and level I get a stutter. It happens mostly with the Viper although does happen now and then in the Hornet. It kind of hesitates when you put the input in and causes a stutter and then it's fine. It's weird. My PC is: 8700k @4.8ghz 1080Ti overclocked 32gb RAM Asus PG278QR 1440p G-Sync monitor 165hz I run TrackIR but it does it regardless of whether I'm using that or not. My monitor is set to 120hz and my FPS is capped at 60FPS. V-Sync off in game but on in NVCP. Apart from this it's fine, no stutters at all. Thanks, Jonny

Generally shimmering shadows, trees, river banks and shores

No, seems fine when doing that. It’s because TrackIR refreshes at divisions of 60. So 60 FPS, 120 FPS etc and it’ll be smooth. I believe that’s the simple explanation anyway. Seeing as no one can maintain a solid 120FPS on any PC is why 60FPS is deemed as the ‘perfect’ FPS to lock to when using TrackIR. Hopefully one day they’ll sort out the horrific ASW artifacts on the Rift-S and I’ll go back to using that but in the meantime I’m having a blast with TrackIR. -

Yeah those water edges are really annoying to be fair. Hoping they can sort those going forward. That’s really strange re your TrackIR as anything other than 60 FPS on my TrackIR Pro is a juddering mess, but lock to 60 FPS and it’s glass smooth. Weird. I’m also praying that these new clouds aren’t going to be a big FPS hog! -

Ah ok so you’re back to the in-game AA settings? I was running in game MSAA x2 and SSAA x1.5 until I read this post yesterday and spent a bit of time experimenting. if I run MSAA x2 and SSAA x2 it put my FPS down to about 54 over dense areas and with me running TrackIR I absolutely need a stable 60 FPS. So far I’m impressed with the Supersampling coming from Nvidia Inspector, literally no shimmering whatsoever. -

In game MSAA x4 and Inspector Supersampling x2...Changed it to this today and I can honestly say DCS has never looked better. 1440p. -
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else is having this issue??:- With the last two Nvidia driver updates I've been unable to set the FPS limit, comes up with an error message. I've rolled back the driver to 460.89 and it works again. Odd!
